C. ROLE PLAY Imagine the following situations. Act them out with your classmates. 1. You arrive at your hotel in London and discover that your reservation hasn t been made. You are worried that she/he might be a terrorist. (Passengers, flight attendant, pilot) 3. You are enjoying a trip to London, but a taxi driver has just charged you far too much for your ride from Piccadilly Circus to the Tower of London. (Passengers, taxi driver, police officer) 4. You are in London on holiday and you don t know how to get to Regent s Park, Madame Tussaud s and the Sherlock Holmes Museum. (Tourist, tourist information clerk) 10

5. You are in London for a short break and you want to know what s the cheapest way to travel round the centre of the city. (Tourist, clerk at London Transport) 6. You go to the travel agent s to book a holiday for two adults and a child to Disneyland in California. Arrange flights, accommodation and tickets. 7. Your flight to New York has been delayed until the following afternoon. You approach the Information Desk at the airport to enquire what you can do. (Passenger, airport ground staff) 8. You are aboard an ocean-going liner on an expensive cruise across the Atlantic to New York, then on to the Caribbean. However, a stomach bug breaks out on board and the passengers are put into quarantine. (Passengers, petty officer, doctor) 11
