Mechanical ventilation must be recommended if air changes / hour are below 0.35 NACH. Performed at least to minumum jurisdictional code requirements. Duct Insulation R-8 minimum, in unconditioned space only Insulation and Air Sealing Duct Repair/Sealing Must use duct mastic or aluminized tape. Must be completed to local jurisdictional code requirements. Whole House Fan Fan should have a self-sealing mechanism that seals unit when not in use. Ceiling/Attic Insulation R-49 minimum required in open attic; cathedral ceilings will vary with rafter depth. Closed loop systems only. Must be 5.5 tons or smaller. Fan must have an automated, insulated air sealing mechanism that engages when the fan is off (i.e., doors or damper mechanism, etc). Only for homes with existing AC. Must have controls (thermostat or timer, multi-speed). Fan opening must be properly insulated and sealed in winter. For use with hydronic (boiler) systems. 20KW maximum size. SRCC rated. Must cool the entire house, not just a single room. Must be permanantly installed (no portable units). 14.5 SEER/12 EER minimum. Requires recycling of existing unit with supporting documentation, where applicable. Window (single room) units do not qualify. Radiant systems must be powered by a heat pump, efficient gas boiler, or solar system. SRCC rated. Must be 20kW or smaller. Geothermal Ground Mounted Closed Loop Systems 15% projected energy savings with energy efficiency upgrades must first be achieved through EnergySmart participation before being eligible for a PV loan. These guidelines apply to Solar Gardens subscriptions as well. For Heating/Cooling. System must be 60kw or under. Geothermal Electric is not eligible. Biomass Biomass Heating System 3MMBtu/hour or smaller. Energy Star Clothes Washer Energy Star models only, but recommend CEE Tier 3 (Modified Energy Factor 2.40 & Water Factor 4.0) See Energy Advisor for list. EnergyStar Appliances Energy Star Refrigerator Energy Star Freezer Replacement of existing unit only; requires recycling of existing unit with supporting documentation. Eligible units must be between 10-30 cubic feet.
