DataSMART 681, 696 and 698 56/64k and T1/FT1 Stand-alone s The FrameVision solution from ADC Kentrox unites a robust family of Frame Monitoring DSU/CSUs with comprehensive reporting tools for managing performance and controlling the cost of Frame Relay networks. Frame Monitoring DSU/CSUs With FrameVision from ADC Kentrox, service providers and enterprise customers can monitor the end-to-end performance of their Frame Relay network. DataSMART Frame Monitoring stand-alone DSU/CSUs support 56/64k or T1/FT1 Frame Relay services. When teamed with FrameVision Reporter software, network managers can verify Service Level Agreements (SLAs); isolate performance problems to the LAN, local loop, or Frame Relay network; determine appropriate bandwidth needs; and monitor network trends to aid in future capacity planning. DataSMART s maximize your network uptime with convenient management features, such as in-band access for simplified remote management. Each T1 DSU/CSU includes a front-panel LCD for easy local management. Embedded, standardsbased SNMP and an integrated Ethernet port ensure easy central management. Validate Frame Relay service level agreements Match bandwidth to application requirements Isolate poor performance to the LAN or WAN Reports available from FrameVision Reporter and enterprise network reporting packages Support a wide range of applications from 56/64k to T1/FT1 speeds Add/drop port available for voice and data traffic integration Standards-based, in-band management with SNMP DataSMART Installer and Alarms Utility software included at no charge 5-year manufacturer s warranty ensures reliability

DataSMART 56/64k and T1/FT1 Stand-alone s Complete frame monitoring solutions The FrameVision solution from ADC Kentrox includes a family of network access devices and reporting tools. DataSMART s support either 56/64k or T1 Frame Relay services, and are available in standalone or plug-in shelf models. E1 models are also available to support international operations. All models include a variety of helpful configuration and diagnostic tools to simplify installation, troubleshooting, and circuit performance monitoring. FrameVision Reporter software graphically displays key statistics on the Frame Relay network. The management data provided by DataSMART Frame Monitoring DSU/CSUs is also compatible with popular enterprise reporting systems, including Concord s Network Health. Frame Relay monitoring DataSMART s provide unique and powerful tools for analyzing Frame Relay performance end-to-end and separately in the enterprise and local loop. By providing a complete picture across the Frame Relay network, carriers and enterprise network managers have the information necessary to determine network availability, performance, problem sources, and bandwidth requirements. DataSMART s monitor performance at three levels: the local loop, end-to-end frame service and enterprise traffic. With in-band management and local Ethernet connectivity, DataSMART Frame Monitoring DSU/CSUs can be managed easily from a remote or local site. DataSMART Add/Drop DSU/CSUs integrate PBX traffic onto a single T1/FT1 line. By operating at the network access point, DataSMART Frame Monitoring DSU/CSUs offer independent and objective visibility of the network to help identify the true source of performance problems and the best resolution. Comprehensive local-loop monitoring Poor line signal quality, framing violations, dropped packets, slow throughput, and other network errors can all be caused by problems in the local loop. DataSMART DSU/CSUs provide a variety of circuit performance monitoring tools to help determine the health of your wide area network. LMI spoofing The LMI spoofing feature auto-detects router or switch failure and maintains communication with your remote units. To help network managers troubleshoot problems quickly and minimize downtime, DataSMART T1 Frame Monitoring DSU/CSUs support LMI spoofing. Standards-based management The DataSMART embedded SNMP agent supports SETs, GETs and Traps, as well as standard MIBs, such as MIB II and the T1 MIB. And for comprehensive control, an enterprise MIB supports all available functions. These MIBs are available on the ADC Kentrox Web site. Advanced management and diagnostics DataSMART DSU/CSUs have advanced features that enable you to take active control of your network, such as in-band SNMP and an integrated Ethernet management port. Comprehensive T1 diagnostic tools help you identify and resolve performance issues in the Frame Relay local loop before they affect service. With the DataSMART, you can remotely configure your units and receive SNMP traps for important network events. Add/drop voice port option The DataSMART 698 Frame Monitoring DSU/CSU provides an add/drop voice port. Businesses can integrate their PBX and managed Frame Relay traffic onto a single T1/FT1 line, avoiding multiple access charges. Check with your carrier about integrated T1 service options. Page 2

Flexible reporting options DataSMART s support an open architecture for reporting information. Network managers can easily integrate the FrameVision circuit management data into their existing reports, procedures, and activities for Frame Relay service management. ADC Kentrox also offers the economical FrameVision Reporter software. With its graphical interface, this easy-to-use application reports valuable information about the performance of your Frame Relay network. For more information on FrameVision reporting options, visit the ADC Kentrox Web site, www.kentrox.com. DataSMART Installer DataSMART Installer is an intuitive, point-and-click configuration and diagnostic utility that dramatically reduces the time to set up access to a Frame Relay circuit. Free with each DataSMART DSU/CSU, this Windows-based application communicates with ADC Kentrox DSU/CSUs over direct serial, in-band and modem dial-up connections. When installing multiple DataSMART DSU/CSUs, users can configure the first unit, and then download, store, and export the configuration to other DataSMART units for rapid deployment. When the circuit is up, DataSMART Installer provides valuable performance data and diagnostics with a simple point-and-click. Alarms Utility The Alarms Utility monitors the entire network for interface and device errors, posting them to the event log in the HP OpenView management system. Custom icons uniquely identify all DataSMART DSU/CSUs for easy recognition in the Network Node Manager topology map. This software is available free from the ADC Kentrox Web site, www.kentrox.com. With FrameVision Reporter, network managers can easily monitor the performance of their Frame Relay networks. DataSMART Installer makes setup and diagnostics fast and easy. With the Alarms Utility, DataSMART DSU/CSUs integrate easily into HP OpenView. Page 3
