1 Introduction 1.1 General Information Thank you for deciding to purchase a KLS Martin product. 1.2 Appropriate use Approved end-devices The ceiling pendant is only approved for connecting medical end-devices such as monitors, operating theater and examination lamps, devices for diagnostics, treatment or surgical interventions with CE labeling. Any other use may cause danger to life and limb and/or jeopardize the product and other assets belonging to the operator. If you encounter problems which are not covered in these operating instructions, please contact your supplier immediately for the sake of your own safety and the safety of your customers. The ceiling pendant is individually equipped, and depending on the version and equipment it can be used: In supporting and positioning medical devices on the M6 service head in the operating room, in intensive medicine and in the medical environment; In the delivery of media such as: - medical gases, vacuum and compressed air, - electrical power and data (e.g. telephone, nurse call, computer data, etc.). The ceiling pendant can only accommodate loads up to the maximum loads indicated in the Technical Data. The ceiling pendant is suitable for permanent use. Operationally safe combination with the M6 service head The components of the M6 service head and of the ceiling pendant are matched to one another, ensuring operational reliability. Any other type of installation, or use of parts which have not been supplied by the manufacturer or its representatives, is strictly forbidden since this may be dangerous. Improper use The ceiling pendant must not be operated in rooms where combustible mixes of anesthetic media with air, oxygen or nitrous oxide are used. The ceiling pendant and its components must not be subjected to loads in excess of the maximum working load pursuant to the details in Chapter 5.1, "Calculating the maximum working load". V 3.0 7

1.3 Warranty Our General Standard Terms of Sale and Delivery are applicable, in the current version. Agreements deviating from this do not restrict the purchaser s statutory rights. Any guarantee going beyond this must be set down in a contract, and excludes vandalism to componentry, software updates and consumables. Important notices The product may only be repaired by Gebrüder Martin or by a person or company expressly authorized by Gebrüder Martin for that purpose. Where a repair is carried out by a person or company authorized by Gebrüder Martin, the operator of the products is required to request a certificate from the repairer detailing the nature and scope of the repair. This certificate must bear the date on which the work was carried out, together with the company details and a signature. If the repair is not carried out by the manufacturer itself, repaired products must additionally bear the repairer s label. In the event of improper interventions or alterations by third parties during the limitation period, all rights under warranty shall lapse. Unauthorized actions on the product result in the loss of the entitlement to liability in respect of Gebrüder Martin. 1.4 Receipt of goods check Check the delivery immediately upon receipt for completeness and absence of damage. Any damage during transport is to be notified without delay. 8 V 3.0

1.5 Disposal Disposal guidelines The duty of the manufacturer to take back in accordance with the European WEEE Directive 2002/96/EC (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) has been in force in the relevant nationally implemented form since 24 March 2006. Therefore, to prevent damage to the environment or injuries to people, please contact us or your authorized service partner when you withdraw this device from service with the intention of disposing of it. The ceiling pendant satisfies the requirements of the RohS Directive 2002/95/EC (Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment) for Device Class 9. 1.6 Notes for the user Please note that the device may only be operated by authorized specialist medical staff with appropriate qualifications who have been instructed in its use. Trained medical personnel The term specialist personnel covers persons: Who have acquired their knowledge through a specialist training and who hold a corresponding license to practice (in states where such licensing is required under the statutory regulations); Who have been instructed on the basis of these in the operation and the mode of working of the device; Who are able to evaluate the activity which they exercise, on the basis of professional experience and instruction in those provisions of relevance for safety, and are able to identify possible hazards at work; The cleaning and disinfection of the device may only be carried out by authorized and trained specialist hygiene staff. 1.7 Notes for the operator Please note that certain kinds of work may only be carried out by persons who are appropriately qualified to do so. For hospital technicians only The adjustment work according to Chapter 6 and the maintenance work according to Chapter 8 may only be carried out by a hospital technician or a person with comparable qualifications. The device uses the latest technology and is safe to operate when it is operated in accordance with all instructions and safety notices contained in these. Despite this, the device may give risk to hazards. This is particularly the case where operated by staff who have not been adequately trained, or if used improperly and not in accordance with its designated use. Obligation to instruct Use these operating instructions to instruct your personnel about the operation, cleaning and care of the ceiling pendant. The operator of this device must prepare written, comprehensible instructions for personnel working on or with this ceiling pendant, based on these Operating Instructions, and explain them to the employee in his or her own language. For Germany, the rules regarding health and safety at work devised by the occupational accidents social insurer (BGV A2) must be respected. These operating instructions for the ceiling pendant are therefore not valid and not complete without the operating instructions for the M6 service head. 2.3 Safety notices for operating the device KLS Martin ceiling pendants are high-quality products manufactured using recognized state-of-the-art engineering. The ceiling pendants left the manufacturing plant in perfect condition in terms of their safety engineering. Please read and observe the following safety notices. Please comply with Chapter 1.2 "Appropriate use". The ceiling pendants should only be operated in rooms used for medical purposes where the electrical installation conforms to the provisions of DIN VDE 0100 Part 710 for Germany, or to the corresponding country regulations concerning power supply and inspection of electrical medical devices. WARNING! Gas explosion! In rooms where the ceiling pendant is being operated, no combustible mixes of anesthetic media with air, oxygen or nitrous oxide should be used. WARNING! Electric shock! During all adjustment work: Isolate all electrical poles of the ceiling pendant from the power supply. Protect against reconnection. CAUTION! Damage to the ceiling pendant! At least one stop must be locked at all times to prevent the internal supply lines from being twisted off. WARNING! Falling ceiling pendant! The maximum load (loading: e.g. monitors) is dependent on the maximum support capacity less the weight of the fitted service head/lifting equipment. The maximum load-carrying capacity is marked on the extension arm or on the M6 service head. This maximum load-carrying capacity must not be exceeded. WARNING! Do not exceed the permitted working load! If the shelf carries a sticker indicating the maximum working load, this value must not be exceeded. V 3.0 15

WARNING! Do not exceed the permitted working load! Regardless of the calculated maximum working load, the following maximum loads apply: On a shelf (no sticker), maximum 50 kg; The single-part pump rod set, 30 kg; The two-part pump rod set, 20 kg; A drawer, maximum 10 kg; The standard rail on the pump rod set, 10 kg. 2.4 Safety notices for tests, maintenance and servicing Please also observe and follow the special safety notices provided in the following Chapters. WARNING! Electric shock! For all testing, servicing and maintenance work: Isolate all electrical poles of the ceiling pendant from the power supply. Protect against reconnection. WARNING! Intervals between testing! The ceiling pendant is to be checked half-yearly by the operator for the following points: - Damage to paintwork - Cracks on plastic parts - Deformation of the ceiling pendant - Loosening of parts. If you notice any faults or damage, please contact our Customer Services. 16 V 3.0

WARNING! Only use genuine parts! The safety, reliability and performance of the pendant system are ensured only when genuine KLS Martin parts or parts approved by KLS Martin are used for servicing, repairs and modifications or as accessories. Spare parts may only be replaced by Gebrüder Martin or by a customer service operation approved by Gebrüder Martin. CAUTION! Intervals between servicing! The ceiling pendant must be serviced annually. 2.5 Correct handling with oxygen WARNING! Risk of oxygen explosion! Oxygen forms explosive mixtures with oils, greases, and lubricants. Compressed oxygen can cause explosions. Keep the oxygen and gas outlets free of materials containing oil, grease or lubricants! When cleaning, do not use cleaning agents which contain oil, grease or lubricants. WARNING! Fire hazard! Escaping oxygen is a serious fire accelerant: When working with oxygen, no open fire, glowing objects or open flame is permitted. No smoking. STORE THESE SAFETY NOTICES IN A SAFE PLACE! V 3.0 17

3 Components and scope of delivery Notice! Staff qualifications: This ceiling pendant should only be operated by specialist medical staff in hospitals and in GP surgeries. Please open the fold-out page (Page 2). Canopy Extension arm: Single arm and two-arm (two-arm version only in various lengths) Motor arm or spring arm: (height-adjustable by motor) Spring Arm (heightadjustable) Locking system: To limit vertical travel ( Spring Arm only) Service-head tube (variable length to accommodate different ceiling heights): with roller bearing (with pneumatic brakes) with plain bearing (with friction brakes) Service head M6: (For information on the M6 service head, please refer to the accompanying operating instructions for the M6 service head system, No. 90-227-59-31) 18 V 3.0

3.1 Description of the Ceiling Pendant Canopy The canopy contains the electrical connections for the Spring Arm and the. The canopy may therefore only be removed by trained service personnel. Extension arm (two-arm only) The extension arm can be rotated 340 degrees. The rotating range of the extension arm can be restricted to avoid collisions with other components. The stop positions have been set during assembly. Motor arm / spring arm The motor arm or the spring arm of the Spring Arm can be rotated 320 degrees horizontally and adjusted vertically 21 degrees up and 24 degrees down. The maximum vertical travel is 690 mm. Combinations The motor or spring arm can be combined with an extension arm : one-arm = motor arm or spring arm two-arm = extension arm with motor or spring arm Single = single suspension Duo = dual suspension Service-head tube The length of the service-head tube compensates for different room heights to ensure that the M6 service head is always at working height. Brakes The service-head tube may be equipped with different bearings. If the service-head tube has a roller bearing, the ceiling pendant has a pneumatic brake. If the service-head tube has a plain bearing, the ceiling pendant has a mechanical brake. Service head M6 The M6 service head can be rotated horizontally 340 degrees (for information on the M6 service head, please refer to the accompanying operating instructions for the M6 service head system, No. 90-227-59-31) V 3.0 19

3.2 Description of function Extension arm The extension arm is used to position the M6 service head with the end-device (e.g. monitor) horizontally. Motor arm / spring arm motor arm height stop Function of the springs in the spring arm of the Spring Arm The motor arm of the or the spring arm of the Spring Arm is used to position the M6 service head with the end-device (e.g. monitor) horizontally and vertically. The vertical travel of the motor arm can be restricted to avoid collisions with the ceiling or other components. The height stop has been set during assembly (see Chapter 6.7, page 34). Two springs are mounted in the spring arm of the Spring Arm to facilitate positioning of the end-device (e.g. monitor). The springs compensate for the weight of the end-device and are available in four different spring assemblies. Installed spring assembly For your installed spring assembly, please refer to the nameplate on the spring arm of the Spring Arm (for the position of the nameplate, see "Technical Data", Chapter 10, page 49). Vertical travel locking system In order to prevent the spring arm of the Independant 100 Spring Arm from jumping up when removing the enddevice (e.g. monitor), the vertical travel of the spring arm must be blocked using the locking system. Spring-force adjustment in the spring arm of the Spring Arm If the spring arm of the Spring Arm with end-device (e.g. monitor) drops or if a new end-device is mounted, then the spring force of the spring arm must be re-adjusted (see Chapter 6.8, page 36). 20 V 3.0

4 Commissioning 4.1 Initial start-up For commissioning, following the end of installation a proper initial start-up of the full pendant system is a mandatory requirement. For use of the pendant system in continuous medical operation, these are only valid once the safe function of the device during initial start-up has been accepted by the installation service undertaking the work and documented in a handover declaration. The pendant system must be handed over to the operator in the tested condition. The handover is to be formally recorded in writing, with confirmation from the operator. At the time of handover, the operator must be instructed regarding the function, operation, cleaning and disinfection of the pendant system. At the time of handover, the operator must be instructed in the permitted adjustment work in accordance with the accompanying Operating Instructions. V 3.0 21

5 Operating the Ceiling Pendant Notice! Staff qualifications This ceiling pendant should only be operated by specialist medical staff in hospitals and in GP surgeries. 5.1 Calculating the maximum working load 5.1.1 Calculating the maximum working load for the service head WARNING! Falling ceiling pendant: The maximum working load of the model used depends on the maximum load-carrying capacity minus the weight of the service head and attachments fitted. The maximum load-carrying capacity is marked on the extension arm or on the service head. This specified maximum load-carrying capacity must not be exceeded. Calculating the maximum working load (loading): Maximum working load (loading) = Maximum load-carrying capacity own weight of the service head If additional attachments, such as pump rods, are mounted on the service head, the own weight of these attachments must also be subtracted from the working load. Maximum working load (loading) = Maximum load-carrying capacity (own weight of the service head + own weight of attachments) Notice! Maximum loading on the spring arms Spring arms are fitted with different springs to compensate for the weight of the end-device. If the spring arm does not remain in the adjusted position after attaching the new end-device and after adjusting the spring force, the springs must be replaced by a service technician. If the calculated value exceeds the permitted working load of a shelf, the calculated working load must be distributed evenly over the shelf. 5.2 Positioning the device CAUTION! Damage to the ceiling pendant! In order to avoid damaging the ceiling pendant, do not approach the stops roughly. 5.2.1 Activating the brakes In order to avoid damaging the pneumatic brakes, release them by pressing the corresponding brake button (1, 2). When the motor arm is moved upwards, it may collide with other components and cause damage to the device. Before pressing the motor button, check the motor arm for possible collisions. 5.3 Removing/Installing end devices WARNING! Do not exceed the permitted working load! If the shelf is loaded beyond the permitted working load, the pendant system may fall down and cause serious injuries. Never exceed the permitted working load. WARNING! Spring arm jumping up! If the stops are not applied to the spring arm before installing or removing the end-device, it may jump up suddenly and cause injury. Always apply the stops to the spring arm when installing or removing end-devices. Apply the stops to the spring arm by engaging the locking system. Check to ensure that the stop is securely applied. Place end-devices on the shelf/monitor support/device support, without exceeding the permitted working load (see Chapter 5.1, page 22, and Chapter 10, page 49). Fix the end-devices securely on the shelf to guard against falling down, by screwing in the mounting screws. Notice! Changing over the shelf When fitting new end-devices, it may be necessary to change over the shelf. Please refer to "Changing over the shelf", Chapter 9.1 of the operating instructions for the "M6 service head system", No. 90-227-59-31. Notice! Maximum loading on the spring arms Spring arms are fitted with different springs to compensate for the weight of the end-device. If the spring arm does not remain in the adjusted position after attaching the new end-device and after adjusting the spring force, the springs must be replaced by a service technician. 6 Adjustments 6.1 Removing/Installing the canopy WARNING! Electric shock! Power supply cables are located under the canopy : Isolate the ceiling pendant from the power supply. Protect against reconnection. NOTICE! Sealing the canopy In order to seal the canopy, the canopy halves are fitted with a profile sealing strip (the canopy can alternatively be sealed using silicone). 6.1.1 Removing the ceiling pendant Isolate the ceiling pendant from the power supply and protect against reconnection. Unscrew the self-tapping screws (1). Loosen the cover retaining screws (2), pull the canopy halves down slightly and remove the profile strip from the canopy halves. Remove the cover retaining screws (2) and remove the canopy halves. 6.1.2 Installing the ceiling pendant Place the profile strip on the canopy halves (the canopy can alternatively be sealed with silicone). Place the canopy halves on the threaded bolts (3) such that the two canopy halves fit together and finish flush with the intermediate or normal ceiling. Secure the canopy halves with the cover retaining screws (2) and then screw them in place with the selftapping screws (1). Make sure that the canopy halves and all the retaining screws are secure. 28 V 3.0

6.2 Adjusting the stop for the upper extension arm WARNING! Electric shock! Power supply lines are located under the canopy: Isolate the ceiling pendant from the power supply. Protect against reconnection. WARNING! Electric shock! At least one stop ring (2) must be locked at all times to prevent the internal supply lines from being twisted off. Isolate the ceiling pendant from the power supply and protect against reconnection. To remove the canopy : Remove the canopy in accordance with Chapter 6.1, "Removing/Installing the canopy", page 28. To remove the cover (5) (Duo version only see next page): Remove the three MLF screws M3 x 6 mm (4). Pull down the cover (5). To adjust the stop rings (2): Adjust the stop rings (2) such that the M6 service head cannot collide with walls or objects: Undo the six M4 Allen screws (3) on each stop ring (2). Rotate the stop ring (2) to the desired position relative to the fixed stop. V 3.0 29

Tighten the six M4 Allen screws (3) on each stop ring (2) to a torque setting of 2.8 Nm. Make sure the stop rings (2) are securely seated. Perform a function test. To install the cover (5) (Duo version only): Push up the cover. Screw in and tighten the three MLF screws M3 x 6 mm (4). 6.3 Adjusting the stop for the lower extension arm (two-arm version only) WARNING! Electric shock! Power supply cables are located under the extension arm cover (3): Isolate the ceiling pendant from the power supply. Protect against reconnection. WARNING! Electric shock! At least one stop (4) must be locked at all times to prevent the internal supply lines from being twisted off. Isolate the ceiling pendant from the power supply and protect against reconnection. To remove the extension arm cover (3): Remove the two countersunk Allen screws (1) and remove the extension arm cover (3). Adjust the stop (5) so that the M6 service head collide with walls or objects: cannot Unscrew the Allen screw M6 x 20 mm (6) and remove the stop (5). Insert the stop (5) in the desired stop position (7) relative to the fixed stop (8). Screw in and tighten the countersunk Allen screw M6 x 20 mm (6). Make sure the stop (5) is securely seated. Perform a function test. To install the extension arm cover (3): Place the extension arm cover (3) with the slotted clips (4) pointing downwards on the pins (2). Press in the extension arm cover (3) fully. Screw in the two countersunk Allen screws (1). Make sure the extension arm cover (3) and the countersunk Allen screws (1) are secure. V 3.0 31

6.4 Adjusting the brakes for the upper extension arm KLS Martin Ceiling Pendants WARNING! Electric shock! Position of the adjusting screws: The two adjusting Allen screws M5 x 30 mm (2) for the braking force are located on the upper face of the flange (1). CAUTION! Damage to the ceiling pendant! If the two socket head cap screws M5 x 30 mm (2) are unscrewed by more than one rotation, the flange cover (1) lifts up and the brake hose lying underneath it is damaged beyond use. Unscrew the two socket head cap screws M5 x 33 mm (2) by a maximum of one rotation. Isolate the ceiling pendant from the power supply and protect against reconnection. To remove the canopy : Remove the canopy in accordance with Chapter 6.1, "Removing/Installing the canopy", page 28. Adjusting the braking force: With the end-device (e.g. monitor) installed, adjust the pneumatic brake force such that the upper extension arm can be easily repositioned and stays in any desired position. To increase the brake force: Rotate the two socket head cap screws M5 x 30 mm (2) uniformly to the right (clockwise). To reduce the brake force: Rotate the two socket head cap screws M5 x 30 mm (2) uniformly to the left (anti-clockwise) by a maximum of one rotation. Perform a function test. To install the canopy : Install the canopy in accordance with Chapter 6 "Removing/Installing the canopy", page 28. 32 V 3.0

6.5 Adjusting the pneumatic brakes for the lower extension arm (two-arm version only) Adjusting the braking force: With the end-device (e.g. monitor) installed, adjust the pneumatic brake force such that the extension arm can be easily repositioned and stays in any desired position. To increase the brake force: Screw in the four slotted brake setscrews (1) uniformly to the right (clockwise). To reduce the brake force: Unscrew the four slotted brake setscrews uniformly by turning to the left (anti-clockwise). 6.6 Adjusting the friction brake for the service head (service head tube with plain bearing only) With the end-device (e.g. monitor) installed, adjust the brake force such that the service head can be easily repositioned and stays in any desired position. To increase the brake force: Screw in the two slotted brake setscrews (1) (offset by 180 o ) uniformly to the right (clockwise). To reduce the brake force: Unscrew the two slotted brake setscrews (1) (offset by 180 o ) uniformly to the left (anti-clockwise). V 3.0 33

6.7 Adjusting the height stop on the motor arm KLS Martin Ceiling Pendants WARNING! Electric shock! Power supply cables are located under the covers (1). Isolate all electrical poles of the ceiling pendant from the power supply. Protect against reconnection. The height stop on the motor arm is 21 degrees max. upwards and 24 degrees max. downwards. The height stop can be limited upwards and downwards. The maximum vertical travel is 690 mm. Isolate the ceiling pendant from the power supply and protect it against reconnection. To remove the covers (1): Unscrew and remove the four countersunk Phillips screws (2). Remove the two covers (1). WARNING! Electric shock! The function test is performed with the power supply switched on: Prevent access to the installation site. Proceed with particular caution. 34 V 3.0

Mode of operation of the height stop: The height stop of the motor arm is defined by two limit switches (3) which move to the stop (6). To adjust the height stop: Loosen the two Torx screws (4) on the limit switch (3) and push it into position in the elongated holes (5). Tighten the two Torx screws (4) on the limit switch (3). Perform a function test. To install the covers (1): Put the two covers (1) in place and screw in and tighten the four Phillips countersunk screws (2). Make sure the covers (1) are seated securely. 6.8 Adjusting the spring force of the spring arm KLS Martin Ceiling Pendants WARNING! Electric shock! Power supply cables are located under the covers (1). Isolate all electrical poles of the ceiling pendant from the power supply. Protect against reconnection. Mode of operation of the springs in the spring arm: Two springs are mounted in the Spring Arm to facilitate positioning of the end-device (e.g. monitor). The springs compensate for the weight of the end-device (e.g. monitor) and are available in four different spring assemblies. The following spring assemblies are available: 20-34.9 kg; 35-49.9 kg; 50-69.9 kg; 70-85.0 kg. Please refer to the nameplate on the Spring Arm for information on the installed spring assembly. Required tool: To adjust the spring force, you require a socket wrench with pin. This can be ordered from Gebrüder Martin or an authorized dealer. Socket wrench AF 36: item number 85-090-20-04 Pin for socket wrench: item number 85-090-21-04 Isolate the ceiling pendant from the power supply and protect it against reconnection. To remove the covers: Unscrew and remove the four countersunk Phillips screws (2). Remove the two covers (1). DANGER! Serious injuries! If the threaded rods are torn off the hexagonal nuts (3) by pure force, the springs will fly out of the spring arm and may cause serious injuries. When adjusting, the hexagonal nuts (3) must be easy to move. The torque setting for adjusting a hexagonal nut (3) must never exceed 25 Nm. 36 V 3.0

Adjusting the spring force: If the spring arm drops with the end-device mounted, the spring force is too low: The hexagonal nuts (3) must be turned to the right (clockwise). If the spring arm rises with the end-device fitted, the spring force is too high: The hexagonal nuts (3) must be turned to the left (anticlockwise). Use the socket wrench AF 36 to adjust the hexagonal nuts (1), alternating between the nuts and turning each nut uniformly with the same number of turns. If the spring arm with the end-device mounted is still unstable following adjustment and cannot be positioned securely, the springs must be replaced at the factory. To install the covers: Put the two covers (1) in place and screw in and tighten the four Phillips countersunk screws (2). Make sure the covers (1) are seated securely. V 3.0 37

6.9 Aligning the shelf of the M6 service head (correcting the inclination) WARNING! Electric shock! Power supply cables are located under the covers (1). Isolate all electrical poles of the ceiling pendant from the power supply. Protect against reconnection. After the end-device (e.g. monitor) has been fitted, the shelf of the M6 service head may be in an inclined position due to the weight of the end-device. Isolate the ceiling pendant from the power supply and protect it against reconnection. To remove the covers (1) and metal screens (3): Unscrew and remove the four countersunk Phillips screws (2). Remove the two covers (1). Unscrew and remove the four slotted fillister-head screws (4). Remove the two metal screens (3). To correct the inclination: Undo the two setscrews (5) at the height of the eccentric shaft (6). Insert a suitable tool (e.g. pin) into the hole and rotate the eccentric shaft (6) until the shelf of the M6 service head is level. Tighten the two setscrews (5). Make sure the M6 service head is securely seated. To install the covers (1) and metal screens (3): Put on the screens (3) and tighten the four slotted fillister screws (4). Put the two covers (1) in place and screw in and tighten the four Phillips countersunk screws (2). Make sure the metal screens (3) and covers (1) are securely seated. 38 V 3.0

6.10 Lubricating the link bracket, motor spindle and chain with grease ( only) WARNING! Electric shock! Power supply cables are located under the covers (1). Isolate all electrical poles of the ceiling pendant from the power supply. Protect against reconnection. The link bracket (4), motor spindle (3) and chain (5) on the motor arm must be lubricated with grease at least once a year. Isolate the ceiling pendant from the power supply and protect it against reconnection. To remove the covers (1): Unscrew and remove the four countersunk Phillips screws (2). Remove the two covers (1). WARNING! Electric shock! The function test is performed with the power supply switched on: Prevent access to the installation site. Proceed with particular caution. To lubricate the link bracket, motor spindle and chain with grease: Use a brush to lubricate the link bracket (4), motor spindle (3) and chain (5) inside the motor arm. Recommended lubricant: Gleitmo GmbH, Munich, Germany Perform a function test. To install the covers (1): Put the two covers (1) in place and screw in and tighten the four Phillips countersunk screws (2). Make sure the covers (1) are seated securely. 40 V 3.0

7 Cleaning and disinfection Notice! Staff qualifications Cleaning and disinfection must be carried out by trained cleaning staff. 7.1 Cleaning DANGER! Oxygen explosion! Oxygen forms explosive mixtures with oils, greases, and lubricants. Compressed oxygen can cause explosions. When cleaning, do not use cleaning agents which contain oil, grease or lubricants. WARNING! Electric shock! The ceiling pendant contains power supply cables. Isolate the ceiling pendant from the power supply. Protect against reconnection. Do not allow cleaning fluid to enter the ceiling pendant. CAUTION! Damage to the ceiling pendant! To avoid damaging plastic parts, do not use scouring agents and alkaline, acid or alcohol-based cleaners. Disconnect the power supply Isolate all electrical poles of the ceiling pendant from the power supply. Allow the end-device (e.g. monitor) to cool down if necessary. Wipe the surfaces of the ceiling pendant using a slightly moistened piece of cloth; if required, add some mild soap solution (dishwashing detergent). V 3.0 41

7.2 Disinfection For disinfection, please use preparations from the group of surface disinfectants. We recommend preparations based on the following active agents: Aldehydes Quaternary ammonium compounds WARNING! Electric shock! The ceiling pendant contains power supply cables. Isolate all electrical poles of the ceiling pendant from the power supply. Protect against reconnection. Do not allow disinfecting fluid to enter the ceiling pendant. CAUTION! Damage to the ceiling pendant! To avoid damage to the housing: Disinfect the end-device (e.g. monitor) only when cold; Do not use halogen-splitting compounds; Do not use strong organic acids; Do not use alkali solutions, and Do not use any pure alcohols. Disconnect the power supply Isolate the ceiling pendant from the power supply. Protect against reconnection. Allow the end-device (e.g. monitor) to cool down if necessary. 8 Maintenance Notice! Staff qualifications Maintenance must be carried out by a hospital technician (or staff with comparable training). 8.1 Servicing All KLS Martin ceiling pendants must be checked and serviced at least once every year by an authorized customer service provider in regard to the following points: Function test Electrical safety check Inspection of the ceiling pendant The KLS Martin service department has been informed about and is trained to carry out the servicing work. Notice! Circuit diagrams, spare parts lists, descriptions, adjustment instructions and other documents are available on request. 8.2 Checks All KLS Martin ceiling pendants must be checked annually by the operator in regard to the following points: Gas type check Mechanical check 8.2.1 Gas type check DIN EN 737 Connections and labeling Anesthetic gas delivery systems Flexible tubes When changing or replacing flexible medical gas tubes and anesthetic gas delivery systems: Check for leaks, obstruction, solids contamination and correct type of gas.
