For Further Information: www.zantaz.com/products/introspect/index.php Ferris Research Comments Zantaz has a comprehensive suite of retention and discovery offerings to meet a wide variety of requirements. All three product lines are growing well. Zantaz s indirect sales channel of more than 50 resellers inherited from its Educom acquisition is a strength. The largest customers (particularly those with more than 5,000 seats) need a lot of industry-specific advice. Zantaz s Audit Center personnel have responded to more than 1,000 discovery requests in the past year. This is helping them develop deep domain expertise. 6 Visit us at www.ferris.com for market intelligence on messaging and collaboration technologies.
Zantaz s Data Restoration service currently restores about 200,000 backup tapes (and other media formats) each year. A potential challenge for Zantaz will be integrating all of its products and offerings. Zantaz has a head start in that EAS and Introspect already have Microsoft Windows and SQL-based back ends. Digital Safe is Unix-based, but since it is a hosted solution managed by Zantaz, platform compatibility and any duplicate administration overhead are not likely to be issues that impact its customers. Data compatibility engineering (to support migration between EAS/Introspect and Digital Safe) is already under way. This industry segment continues to evolve from basic archiving to retention and life-cycle management, which is more aligned with regulatory compliance. In the longer term, organizations will see archiving and retention as enabling access to their information, not just as a compliance burden.
