GENERAL INFORMATION As a result of the 2000 census, Mobile County and the municipalities that elected to be part of the Mobile County Consortium were collectively identified as an entitlement by the Unites States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). As such, the Consortium became the recipient of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Home Investment Partnerships (HOME), and Emergency Shelter Grant funds currently known as the Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG). These funds are primarily to assist low and moderate income persons, expand economic development opportunities, and provide decent housing and/or a suitable living environment. As lead agency of the Consortium, Mobile County allocates these funds to different activities to meet priority needs and the specific objectives identified in the County s Consolidated Plan. As of this print date, the upcoming 2015 Program Year funding allocations have not been announced. Mobile County is estimating level funding for 2015.
