Be sure to make your response BEFORE the male speaker and then repeat his answer after him, making sure that your pronunciation matches the male speaker s pronunciation. Instructor: Imagine that you are in Naples, Italy and you are speaking to a stranger. How do you ask do you speak English? Female: No, non parlo inglese. Instructor: Since you are speaking to someone who is not a friend or family member, did you remember to speak in a formal manner? Ask her again, do you speak English? Female: No, non parlo inglese. Instructor: Talking about someone else, ask her Does he speak English? Male: Lui parla inglese? Female: No, non parla inglese. Instructor: Now ask does he speak Italian? Male: Lui parla italiano? Female: Sí, lui parla italiano. Instructor: Ask Who speaks English? Male: Chi parla inglese? Instructor: Now ask Does she speak English? Female: Chi, lui? Instructor: Say Not him.? Male: Non lui.
