RELEASE, WAIVER, AND EXPLANATION OF NON-INSURANCE The parade committee and other entities involved in putting on the parade DO NOT have liability insurance or any other insurance coverage which covers individuals who participate in the Las Vegas Veteran s Day Parade. By signing this agreement, the undersigned agrees to release the Las Vegas Veterans Day Committee, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1753, and the City of Las Vegas, and their volunteers and agents, from any responsibility for injuries or damages of any kind which may occur during the events mentioned above and to waive any and all right the undersigned or the organization they represent may have against Las Vegas Veterans Day Committee, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1753, and the City of Las Vegas, or their legal representatives. EMERGENCY RELEASE AND WAIVER The undersigned, hereby accepts responsibility for any accident which may occur in connection with this activity, hold harmless Las Vegas Veterans Day Committee, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1753, and the City of Las Vegas and all other parties involved in the promotion and/or conducting of the above names activity. As well, I (we) understand that Las Vegas Veterans Day Committee, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1753, and the City of Las Vegas provides NO medical insurance coverage for this activity. RULES AND REGULATIONS I have read, understand and accept the parade rules and regulations, and will abide by those rules and regulations and the decisions of the Parade Committee and Judges, on behalf of myself, my organization, and all persons associated with my organization that will be participating in the Parade. RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. No political statements whatsoever are allowed. Political office holders may display their name and office currently held. Candidates for any office may display their name only. No signage, banners or clothing of a political campaign nature are allowed. Examples: no "Re-Elect", "Vote For", etc. Violation of these rules will result in denial of participation, removal from the parade and or denial of subsequent entry in future Parades. 2. As per City of Las Vegas ordinance, parade participants may not throw or hand out anything along the parade route (candy, literature, handbills, etc.), or in any staging area under the control of the Las Vegas Veterans Day Parade. Participants WILL NOT ACCOST parade route spectators. Failure to cease such activities when advised by Parade Staff, or failure to abide by these rules may result in removal from the Parade and or denial of subsequent entry in future Parades. 3. Static performances are allowed ONLY in front of the viewing stand (4 th Street and Ogden). This will be strictly enforced to prevent stops and starts, or the caterpillar effect. 4. Insurance is a requirement to participate in the Las Vegas Veterans Day Parade. All motor vehicles must carry proof of insurance. All rules of the road must be followed. Windows, mirrors and lights must be visible on vehicles as all times. 5. Proper and legal conduct of parade participants is required. 6. Drugs and alcoholic beverages are prohibited at the Parade. Alcoholic beverages are forbidden in public areas, on any float, in any vehicle or on the person of any participant. Participants consuming alcohol prior to parade start will not be permitted in the Parade and any person consuming alcohol during the parade will be removed from the line of march. 7. No livestock unit will be accepted without a decorated clean up unit following and manned by one or more assistants. The Parade Committee reserves the right to bar from the parade any animal or rider deemed unsafe to other riders or spectators. All horses must be in the control of the rider at all times. 8. The Parade Committee will NOT accept, allow or permit into the Parade any group or organization whose primary or underlying theme carries any controversial agendas. The Parade Committee has full and final decision on the content and participants in the Las Vegas Veterans Day Parade as well as each unit s content, signage, appropriate attire, and behavior of participants. 9. The Parade Committee reserves the right to bar and/or remove from the Parade those NOT conforming to the rules and regulations AND units that misrepresent or alter their entry from the registration application that was approved by the Parade Committee. 10. Entries must observe all applicable rules and regulations. They must be approved by the Parade Committee before entering the line of march. The Parade Committee and the parade marshals reserve the right to remove from the parade, either prior to assembly, at assembly, or any time during the Parade, any entrant not conforming to rules and regulations or any entrant refusing to follow instructions of police or Parade Staff. 11. Entries may display a wide variety of design, but should remember that the purpose of the parade is to celebrate and honor the military. All floats must meet ALL safety requirements of the Las Vegas Veterans Day Service Parade and be inspected by Parade Staff prior to the Parade. Persons appearing on the float shall wear appropriate and suitable costume or clothing in keeping with the theme of the entry or as weather allows. Float drivers, if visible, will also be required to attire appropriately. 12. The Las Vegas Veterans Day Parade Committee reserves the right to refuse entry to any applicant group that is felt to not represent the best interests or consideration of the Veterans of Southern Nevada. 13. The decisions made by the Las Vegas Veterans Day Parade Staff are considered to be final. 14. Your signature on the registration form or payment if the registration form is filled out electronically indicates that you agree to abide with all conditions set forth in the registration application and in this documents. The Las Vegas Veterans Day Committee, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1753, and the City of Las Vegas, (including their employees, volunteers and agents), are released from any and all responsibility for loss, damage, or injury to any person or property relating in any way to participation in the Parade. PARADE SCRIPT Please let us know as much as possible about your plans for your Parade entry. It will help us place you properly in the parade and give us the information we will use when we promote the Parade. You may wish to include your theme, the number of years you have been in the parade, the number of key people on your float, the name of the song you are performing and why you selected it, your organization s mission and why you participate, etc. Please include a description of how your theme relates to our theme and how your Parade entry honors Veterans. Remember, this is how your group will be identified and announced on TV and at the reviewing stand. Please remember, the announcer only has time to read 100 words, anything over will be cut off. If you need more room, please add a separate page which indicated continued entry description
