Features of a NatWest Essentials Home Contents Insurance Policy The Essentials Contents Home Policy You have purchased is underwritten by U K Insurance Limited and will run for 12 months. Your policy schedule will show which of the following sections of cover You requested. The shaded areas on this document are for use by NatWest branch staff. If you are purchasing this policy online please ensure you read the full policy summary. Cover Included As Standard Section 1 Contents Paragraph A Loss or Damage You are covered for: Fire Storm or Flood Water or oil escaping Vandalism or malicious acts What is covered: Household goods and any other articles belonging to You or any member of Your family who live with you at Your Home Money in the Home up to 50 Paragraph B Extra Cover (Extra benefits included as standard) Contents away from Your Home up to 250 Belongings during Vacation up to 3,500 or the Contents sum insured, whichever is lower. (This cover is applicable only if You are a Student) Replacing purchased or downloaded information stored on Home Entertainment Equipment and mobile phones up to 250. College property on loan up to 200 for College library books and 500 for other College property. (This cover is applicable only if You are a Student) This section will not cover the following items: laptop Computer Equipment other Portable Electronic Equipment mobile phones and their accessories pedal cycles landlords fixtures and fittings property (including Money) held or used for any profession, business or employment property in garages, sheds and other outbuildings caused by You or any other person who lives at the address shown in the schedule of Money unless force and violence is used to get into Your Home After your home has been unoccupied for more than 30 days in a row your policy will not pay for:
Section 1 Contents (continued) The reasonable cost of alternative accommodation while insured repairs are carried out if Your Home is unfit to live in (up to 20% of the sum insured) Cover for Your belongings whilst in transit at the beginning and end of a College term up to 500 for any one single carrying device. Section 2 Laptop Computer Equipment and Other Portable Electronic Equipment Cover Laptop Computer Equipment and other portable electronic equipment such as MP3 players and hand held games consoles belonging to You or any member of Your Family who lives with You at Your Home. Section 3 Mobile Phone Cover Any mobile phone belonging to You or any member of Your Family who lives with You at Your Home. Paragraph A Loss or damage Accidental loss Accidental damage while in Your Home and anywhere else in the British Isles Paragraph B Extra Cover (Extra benefits included as standard) Overseas Travel - Cover applies for up to 30 days elsewhere in the world Cover for belongings if left in the Term Time Address while Unoccupied during Vacation (only applicable if You are a Student) property held or used for any profession, business or employment the cost of unauthorised calls from an unattended motor vehicle from You except by robbery or where Your mobile phone has been concealed and not left unattended unless reported to the police within 24 hours of the incident For property left in Your Home after Your Home has been Unoccupied for more than 30 days in a row (other than during Vacation if You are a student) Your policy will not pay for: 500 in respect of any one claim Excess An excess of 25 is payable in addition to any other excess which may apply.
Section 4 Pedal Cycles Any pedal cycle belonging to You or any member of Your Family who lives with You at Your Home. Paragraph A Loss or damage Accidental loss Accidental damage while in Your Home and anywhere else in the British Isles Paragraph B Extra Cover Overseas Travel - Cover applies for up to 30 days elsewhere in the world Cover for belongings if left in the Term Time Address while Unoccupied during Vacation (only applicable if You are a Student) Loss or damage while the cycle is being used for racing, pacemaking or trials when the cycle is unattended unless the cycle is in a locked building or immobilised by a security device For property left in Your Home after Your Home has been Unoccupied for more than 30 days in a row (other than during Vacation if You are a student) Your policy will not pay for: 250 in respect of any one pedal cycle
Section 5 Specified Items Any item belonging to You or any member of Your Family who lives with You at Your Home, which has been specified on Your policy. Rights to cancel If this cover does not meet Your requirements, please call us on 0345 301 5286 within 14 days of receipt of Your documents or of the start date of the policy which ever is later. We will refund any premium that You have paid, providing no claim has been made. If either We or You cancel Your policy we may refund any premium paid for the remaining period of insurance providing that You have not made any claim during that current period. You will have to pay the administration fee as shown in Your Schedule if You cancel Your policy. How to Claim To notify Us of a claim in the first instance please telephone 0345 301 5286. How to Complain If you have a complaint, please call us on 0345 301 5286. If your complaint is about a claim, contact your claims handler, whose details will be shown on your claim documents. If you want to complain in writing please send your letter to one of the following: a) For complaints about claims, write to the Regional Customer Service Manager at the address shown in your claims documents. b) For all other complaints write to the Customer Relations Manager at Churchill Court, Westmoreland Road, Bromley, Kent BR1 1DP. Our staff will attempt to resolve your complaint immediately. If this is not possible, we promise to acknowledge your complaint within five business days of receipt. In the unlikely event that your complaint has not been resolved within four weeks of its receipt, we will write and let you know the reasons why and the further action we will take. If we cannot resolve the differences between you and us, you may refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS).
