3 Additional Cover - These covers only apply if shown in the Policy Schedule Additional Cover Features and Benefits Additional Accidental damage to Buildings and/ or Contents Personal Possessions away from home within the United Kingdom and also up to 30 days anywhere in the world Additional Cover Policy Limits Up to the Buildings Sum Insured and/or Contents Sum Insured shown on your Policy Schedule Items you have specified that are worth over 2,000 each, as shown on your Policy Schedule. 4 General Conditions and Exclusions General Conditions and Exclusions General Policy Exclusions applicable to all sections What is NOT insured Any deliberate act by you or your family Where to find information in General Exclusions Section Loss or damage caused by; Radioactive contamination War Terrorism Gradual deterioration, maintenance or wear and tear Faulty workmanship Pollution The excess you have chosen in addition to any excess we have quoted. Excesses are shown on your Policy Schedule Buildings Loss or damage that occurs when the Building is Unoccupied or Unfurnished for more than 30 days Section 1 The first 1,000 of any claim for subsidence At least the first 500 of any claim for escape of water or oil See your Policy Schedule At least the first 250 of any claim for Accidental Damage See your Policy Schedule Storm or flood damage to domestic fixed fuel oil tanks in the open, drives, patios and terraces, gates, hedges and fences, swimming pools and hard tennis courts Contents Loss or damage that occurs when the Building is Unoccupied or Unfurnished for more than 30 days At least the first 500 of any claim for escape of water or oil Section 2 See your Policy Schedule At least the first 250 of any claim for Accidental Damage See your Policy Schedule Storm or flood damage to Contents in the open. 4
5 General Conditions and Exclusions General Conditions and Exclusions Contents (continued) What is NOT insured Loss or damage caused by theft or attempted theft where there is no violent or forcible entry or exit Where to find information in Loss or damage caused by theft, attempted theft, malicious damage or vandalism by any person lawfully in your home Loss or damage caused by mechanical or electrical breakdown or failure Accidental Damage Extensions At least the first 250 of any claim for Accidental Damage Loss or damage caused by domestic pets, including chewing, scratching, tearing or fouling Optional Cover Number 12 and/or Optional Cover Number 10 Loss or damage caused by vermin, insects, fungus, wet or dry rot Personal Possessions away from home within the United Kingdom and also up to 30 days anywhere in the world Loss or damage caused by theft from unattended road vehicles unless the vehicle is securely locked and the items are out of sight Loss or damage to sports equipment when it is being used Optional Covers for Your Contents, Option A Loss or damage to musical instruments whilst in transit unless they are placed in a suitable protective container Loss or damage to pedal cycles Pedal Cycles away from home within the United Kingdom and also up to 30 days anywhere in the world Loss or damage caused by cuts, bursts or punctures Theft unless in a locked building or securely locked to an immovable object Optional Covers for Your Contents, Option B Loss or damage while being used for racing, pace-making, testing of any kind, taking part in trials or competitions 5
6 Household Insurance Information we need to know about You must take reasonable care to provide complete and accurate answers to the questions we ask when you take out, make changes to and renew your insurance. If you have misrepresented any facts or circumstances which might affect our decision to provide insurance or the terms of that insurance, or you have made a false claim, we may refuse to pay a claim or treat this insurance as though it had never existed. without their written permission. Full details of how to claim are included in the policy booklet. If you need to make a complaint It is the intention to give you the best possible service but if you do have any questions or concerns about this insurance or the handling of a claim you should follow the Complaints Procedure below. Please ensure your policy number is quoted in all correspondence to assist a quick and efficient response. We strongly advise our customers to review their policy each year to ensure they have adequate cover in place. Your right to cancel the policy If you decide that for any reason, this policy does not meet your insurance needs then please return it to your agent within 14 days of issue. On the condition that no claims have been made or are pending, you will be entitled to a pro-rata return of premium. If you wish to cancel your policy after 14 days, on the condition that no claims have been made or are pending, you will be entitled to a pro-rata return of premium and you may be charged a cancellation fee by Policy Expert. If you have made a claim on this policy there will be no refund. If you need to make a claim Claims will be handled by Trinity Claims at the address shown in your policy booklet. Should you wish to claim under your VFM Cover Select policy you should call the Trinity Claims Helpline on or by submitting a claim in writing as soon as possible and within 30 days of the event. The FOS is an independent body that can arbitrate on complaints after we have provided you with written confirmation that our internal complaints procedure has been exhausted. Financial Services Compensation Scheme UK General Insurance (Ireland) Limited is covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). You may be entitled to compensation from the scheme, if they cannot meet their obligations. This depends on the type of business and the circumstances of the claim. Most insurance contracts are covered for 90% of the claim.
