Today I Will action list to help one achieve better balance and wellness EMOTIONS: Today I will Ask for help when I need it Provide support to others Have a quiet moment with myself Let go of grudges Donate my old clothes, furniture or items I don't use anymore to my local Good Will, Salvation Army or charity of my choice. Get a dose of sunlight every day Limit alcohol intake Take a bubble bath Go for coffee with a friend Smile! Do my favorite hobby Accept responsibility for my actions Laugh at life and myself Do yoga Find ways to cope with stress that work for me Relax Spend time with my pet Think outside the box. Get out from behind my TV, computer screen or phone screen Take a few deep breaths Dance to my favorite music Take a walk Take a mini vacation Count to 10 Stick to a regular sleeping schedule Laugh at myself when something doesn t go my way Take time to relax (yoga, prayer, meditation, warm bath) Find five good things about a person that is frustrating me Tip larger than I normally would Put myself in another person s shoes who is struggling Turn a negative thought into a positive one Write down what I am thankful for

ENVIRONMENT: Today I will Engage in environmentally responsible behaviors Be aware of my surroundings Recycle, reduce, reuse Don t leave water running while I brush my teeth, do the dishes, etc. Pick up trash in my neighborhood Take a walk in nature Turn off unused lights Use reusable bags or recycled paper bags when shopping Install smoke detectors in my home Improve my home s energy efficiency Do not waste Stop my junk mail Clean disorganized cabinets, closets and drawers Drink on the go beverages in a reusable mug or tumbler Put down my smart phone more often than I normally would Spend time organizing my junk pile Donate unused clothes to a local charity thrift shop Leave no dirty dishes in the sink overnight Take my shoes off at the front door Spend less time using my computer Clean out my fridge and pantry Take the time to clean out my car inside and out If I don t love it, need it, or want it; pass it by or get rid of it. Avoid social media for 48 hours Freshen up my home by letting some natural light in and opening windows Clean up crowded closets, cupboards and drawers Take time to make my bed FINANCES: Today I will Balance my checkbook regularly Know the total amount of debt I have Go see a financial advisor Save for retirement Make a budget Know where my retirement is invested Know what my net worth is/means Pay my bills

File my taxes on time Balance my needs and wants Have money aside for emergency situations As a family, come up with free activities we can do for fun Brew coffee at home Brown bag my lunch Eat food from home Cook dinner tonight instead of going out Save a portion of my paycheck for retirement Make a weekly budget Pay one of my bills off in advance Save a dollar a day Stay away from name brand items Purchase used items versus new MIND: Today I will Try to learn something new every day: Keep my eyes and mind open to new ideas and focus on learning something new each day Challenge myself to see more than one side of an issue Take a different route to work Watch educational television and enlighten my mind Learn to appreciate art: Attend exhibits, plays, musicals, and poetry readings Attend an educational event in my community Learn a new hobby Learn about current affairs - locally, nationally, and internationally Play creative and stimulating activities/games Make a to-do list Read the newspaper, magazine and books Look up things that you want to learn more about Ask questions Go see the new art exhibit Read a book for pleasure Attend a free lecture or seminar Learn a new language Learn a new skill such as painting Take a class that interests me

WORK: Today I will Develop a balance between work and leisure Take breaks at work Attend career fairs Talk to my co-workers about any problems that may come up Have an ergonomic visit with my employee wellness team Ask for help when I need it Update my resume Communicate and collaborate with others Choose a job that is consistent with my personal values, interests and beliefs Find what motivates me Aspire to be great in all aspects of life Set goals for myself Take steps to achieve my dreams Use my natural talents and skills Have a positive attitude at work Do something special for my co-workers Say good morning/afternoon when I walk past someone at work or school Turn a negative situation into a positive situation Encourage my co-worker to share their great idea BODY: Today I will Walk the dog Try a new vegetable or healthy food Eat a balanced diet Keep a food journal Workout with a friend Go for regular health check-ups Take a wellness class Drink lots of water Get plenty of sleep Use the stairs instead of the elevator Park farther from the store Play outside with my kids Cook a meal with friends/family Take a cooking class Exercise regularly Dance to my favorite song Use my seat belts

Brush my teeth at least twice a day and floss At restaurants, share a meal or eat half now and half later Get a flu shot Wash your hands Wear sunscreen Have a heart-to-heart with my doc Vow to shop the outside isles of the grocery store Go to bed 30 minutes earlier Get up during commercials and do jumping jacks Put my raincoat to use and take a hike in the rain Eat foods only natural to the earth Drink only water Take a new exercise class with a friend Exchange my morning coffee with an apple Think of the rainbow while choosing my fruits and veggies Try eating fruits and vegetables that are local and in season Take a hike or a bike Avoid carbonated drinks for 24 hours Avoid processed foods Walk, carpool or bicycle to work COMMUNITY: Today I will Volunteer Learn about a new culture Plan a family, neighborhood, or work social gathering Join a new club or an organization Spend time with some of my favorite people Meet new people Go to social events in my community Practice random acts of kindness Value diversity and treat others with respect Say yes to more social invitations Join a bowling league Volunteer locally Join a book club Call a friend that I ve lost touch with Smile and wave to stranger passing by Donate to a local cause Join a local club Get to know my neighbors and say hello Get involved with local community events (fun run, Boys and Girls club, etc.)
