JEOPARDY ADULT ONLINE QUALIFYING TEST, January 7, 8, 9, 2014 Info from the Jeopardy! web site Link to registration and test info: http://www.jeopardy.com/onlinetests/adult/ WELCOME Welcome to the registration for the Jeopardy! Online Test. This test is your first step to becoming a contestant on the show. Registration is REQUIRED in order to take the test. You MUST register even if you have taken the test before or have registered for other Jeopardy! activities. Registration closes prior to the test, so don't wait! Registration will take approximately 5 minutes. Upon successful completion of the registration process you will receive a confirmation number, login information, and select a test date. You'll need a pen and paper and access to your calendar. TEST OVERVIEW The test consists of 50 clues from 50 different categories. You will have 15 seconds to submit your response to each clue. For the purpose of this test, you DO NOT need to frame your response in the form of a question. Take your time and type carefully. After typing your response, you can either click the submit button to move on to the next clue or simply wait for time to expire. When the clue time runs out, anything typed into the answer box will be submitted. AUDITION All tests will be submitted to the Jeopardy! Contestant Department for correction and evaluation. Audition space is extremely limited, so a random selection process may be implemented to invite individuals who pass the online test to participate in the in-person auditions. If you are invited to audition, you will take another 50-clue test, play a "mock version" of Jeopardy! and

participate in a short personality interview. TECH INFO To take the test you will need either a PC or Mac computer, as well as a high-speed internet connection. The test does not work on tablets or smart phones. If you have more than one person in your household that will be taking the test at the same time, they'll both need their own computer. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS Adults must be 18 or older Military must be full-time, active duty member of the U.S. Military You are not eligible to be a contestant on JEOPARDY! if you have appeared on any version of the show with Alex Trebek. You are not eligible to be a contestant on JEOPARDY! if you have appeared on a nationally broadcast game show/dating show/relationship show/reality show in the last year or three game shows/dating shows/relationship shows/reality shows in the last 10 years. You may not be eligible to play on JEOPARDY! if you are employed by, related to, or within the last five years known anyone who works for Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc., CBS Television Distribution, Sullivan Compliance Company, or any television stations broadcasting Wheel of Fortune or JEOPARDY! SHOW HISTORY Thanks! The next step is to confirm your eligibility to appear on the show. Please answer the following questions: Have you appeared on any version of the show with Alex Trebek? Yes No Have you been on a game, dating, relationship, or reality show in the last year? Yes No Have you been on three or more of the above type shows within the last 10 years? Yes No (If "yes" to any answer, then you may take the test, but only for fun.) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

General Q & A Eligibility Q: What are the contestant eligibility requirements? A: You are eligible to take the Adult Online Test if you are 18 years or older before December 13, 2013 and live in the US or Canada. Unfortunately, you are not eligible to be a contestant on Jeopardy! if you have appeared on a game show/dating show/relationship show/reality show in the last year or three game shows/dating shows/relationship shows/reality shows in the last 10 years. You may not be eligible to play on Jeopardy! if you are employed by, related to, or within the last five years known anyone who works for Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc., Sony Pictures Television Inc., Quadra Productions, Inc., CBS Television Distribution, Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy! prize suppliers, or any TV station (including advertisers and related radio stations) broadcasting Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy! Q: Are Canadians eligible to take the test? A: Yes, Canadians are eligible to take the Online Test. However, please note that we cannot allow non-us residents to take the test "just for fun." Non-US residents should only complete the form if they wish to be considered for a contestant audition. Q: There is more than one eligible adult in my household. Can we both take the test? A: Yes, you can both take the test, but you will each need to register with different email addresses and you will each need your own computer to take the test. Q: I took last year's Adult Test. Can I participate in this round? A: Yes, you are welcome to participate in this round of testing as long as you did not attend an in-person audition. If you did attend an in-person audition, but you would like to take the test "just for fun", please select "Yes" for the appropriate show history eligibility question. You will not be considered for a contestant audition. Q: I've taken the College Test in the past. Am I eligible for this round? A: The College Online Test is considered a separate event and does not disqualify you from the Adult Test. We encourage you to participate in both as long as you meet all eligibility requirements.

Q: Can I participate if I have a disability? A: Jeopardy! is proud of its long-standing reputation of openness to applicants with disabilities. If you have a disability and require assistance to complete the online test you may have a family member, friend, or assistant read the clues to you and/or type in your responses. Please note print-to-speech software and/or voice recognition programs may not operate quickly enough to allow you to answer within the time constraints of the online test. Registration Q: Am I registered? Do I need to re-register? A: Unsure whether you registered for the January 2014 test? https://secure.sonypictures.com/tv/shows/jeopardy/onlinetests/confirmationretrieval/ to request a confirmation number reminder and to verify your registration status. If the system does not recognize your email address, please register by completing the form. Q: The registration form didn't ask for a password. How will I log in? A: We no longer collect passwords as part of the Online Test registration process. You will now log in using your last name and a confirmation number. You should have been assigned a confirmation number after completing the registration form, and you should also have it saved in an email from jeopardy@news.sonypictures.com. If you cannot locate it, https://secure.sonypictures.com/tv/shows/jeopardy/onlinetests/confirmationretrieval/. Q: I lost or forgot my confirmation number. How do I retrieve it? A: https://secure.sonypictures.com/tv/shows/jeopardy/onlinetests/confirmationretrieval/ to have your confirmation number sent to the registered email address. Please add jeopardy@news.sonypictures.com to your address book, and make sure to check your spam or bulk folder. Test Details Q: Where will the test take place? A: To take the test, return to the main page of this site and click on the login button. That button will take you to the page where you will need to enter your registered last name and confirmation number. You will know you are successfully logged in when the countdown clock appears. We recommend logging in at least 20 minutes early. If you are unable to see the "Test

Login" button, please refresh your browser and try again. Do not close the test page until you are finished with the test. Q: I am unable to take the test at the designated time. Can I log in late or reschedule? A: The test dates and times are not flexible. The test will begin at 3 minutes after the hour according to the test site's clock, and you must be logged in before the test begins. We recommend logging in at least 20 minutes early. While we encourage you to take the test in your own time zone, you may take the test on another night depending on the demands of your schedule. There is no need to re-register or to contact us if you wish to take the test on one of the other nights it is offered. Make sure that you account for the time difference. Remember that you may only log in and take the test once. Subsequent attempts will result in disqualification. Q: How long will the test take? A: The test consists of 50 clues and you will have a maximum of 15 seconds to respond to each clue. The test will take approximately 10 minutes. You cannot log in late or restart. Q: How do I submit my responses? A: To submit a response, you can either click "Submit," or wait for the full 15 seconds to elapse. Pressing the "Enter" key on the keyboard will not submit a response. Anything you have typed into the response field will be automatically captured when time expires and you hear the "ping" alerting you to the next clue. You cannot pause, stop, or go back on the test. You do not need to answer in the form of a question. Last names only are acceptable. This is not a spelling test. Partial and mistyped answers will be considered. Q: Do I have to phrase my responses in the form of a question? A: No. DO NOT phrase your response in the form of a question. Don't waste time typing "Who is..." and "What is..." (We'll test you on your phrasing when you make it to the auditions!) Q: Will I be graded on spelling? A: Correct spelling definitely helps in the test grading process. We encourage you to review your response as closely as possible and check for any potential spelling errors before submitting. Q: Will completing the test quickly improve my score?

A: No, we do not grade the tests based on how quickly you respond. Q: Will I be penalized for incorrect responses? A: If you are not sure of an answer, by all means you should take a guess! Look at the category, and read the clue again to see if it offers any hints. If the answer you enter is wrong, it counts the same as leaving the space blank, so you've got nothing to lose. Q: What happens if I want to skip ahead to the next clue? A: You may choose to skip ahead to the next clue at any time. You should be aware that any partial data that you enter into the response field will be captured and submitted "as is" when the time expires for that clue. Technical Support Q: What are the technical requirements for my computer to take the test? A: You can take the test on either a Mac or PC. The test is currently not compatible with mobile or tablet devices. No matter which type of computer you use, we encourage you to check that you meet the technical requirements: - Use a high-speed Internet connection. - Make sure you have Flash 10 or higher. (Install or upgrade your Flash player here http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/.) - Use Internet Explorer 8.0 and above, latest version of Firefox, or Safari 5.0 and above. - Do not use a screen resolution smaller than 1024x768. The Online Test is optimized for screens this size and larger, and it may not display properly at smaller screen resolutions. - Make sure your text settings are no larger than 100%, or "normal" or "medium" size. Increased text settings will prevent you from viewing the test in full. Q: I am having trouble logging in and taking the test on test night. What should I do? A: If you are on a Mac or PC computer and having difficulties logging in try the following tips. - Close all running programs and restart your computer - Open your preferred browser and try to log in again. Do not run any other programs while taking the online test. - Confirm that your screen resolution is higher than 1024x768, and that javascript and Flash 10 or higher are installed. - If none of these tips work and your computer has all of the technical requirements listed in the

previous question, please send a note with your operating system, internet browser and version, Flash version and the error message you are receiving to jthelp@sonypictures.com and we'll do our best to help troubleshoot. Q: Can I take the test on my mobile or tablet device? A: The test is currently NOT compatible with mobile or tablet devices. You must take the test using a high-speed Internet connection on a Mac or PC. Q: Can I take the test using a dial-up connection? A: We strongly discourage you from taking the online test with a dial-up connection, as it is a timed test designed for high-speed Internet connections. However, you may take the test from any location, so you're welcome to use an alternate computer with a high-speed connection. Q: Will installing Flash cause any harm to my computer? A: There are no known issues associated with installing Flash. Q: What is the Computer Check and why should I take it? A: The computer check simulates the online test experience by offering 3 clues. It is intended for demo and testing purposes only. It confirms that your computer setup meets the technical requirements of the Jeopardy! Online Test and demonstrates the test format. You must do the computer check on the same computer and in the same browser that you will use for the actual Online Test. You may take it as many times as you need. Your responses will not be recorded or graded. Take the Computer Check to verify compatibility. http://www.jeopardy.com/onlinetests/adult/sampletest After The Test Q: Will I receive my test results? A: The Jeopardy! Contestant Department will not send you your score. You will know if you passed the test if you are contacted by a member of the Jeopardy! Contestant Department. Q: When can I expect to be contacted after the test? A: If you are selected to move to the next round of auditions, you could be contacted by the

Jeopardy! Contestant Department any time within one year of this test. Q: How are test takers selected to move forward? A: Due to extremely limited number of audition appointments, those who pass the test will be included in a random selection process. Those selected to come to an in-person audition will be invited to their preferred audition city (chosen during registration) to participate in a full audition process. Q: What can I expect if I'm selected to go to an audition? A: If you are selected to come to an audition, you will be tested with a new and different 50-clue test, play a "mock version" of Jeopardy! to assess your game-playing skills and do a short personality interview. Adults who pass this criteria for regular shows will remain in the applicant pool for 18 months from the date of their in-person interview. Tests and auditions for College students, Teens, and Kids are tournament-specific. Q: I haven't been contacted. When can I take the test again? A: If you have not been contacted to audition or compete by the time the next online test for your group is held, we encourage you to register and take the test again, assuming you still meet all eligibility qualifications. Passing these tests does not guarantee you an appearance on Jeopardy! or make you automatically eligible to appear on the show. Q: Can we be certain that you will visit my preferred audition city this year? A: The cities listed on the registration form are currently under consideration by our contestant department, but there is no guarantee that auditions will be held in each of them this year. Q: Can I change my audition city after registration? A: We would suggest that you select the audition city which is most convenient to you. We are always happy to make changes at the time that invitations are sent out, but there is no guarantee that auditions in your alternate selection will still be available or have not already been completed. Q: I want to register for the Teen, College or Kids Test. Where should I go? A: You're on the Adult Test site. When registration opens for other age groups, that information will be posted here http://www.jeopardy.com/beacontestant/contestantsearches/

Don't see your question here? Please email the Jeopardy! Test Help account at jthelp@sonypictures.com. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Top Tips to prepare for the online test - Remember the categories - Don't over-think your response - Know when to make educated guesses - Be prepared for clues in the form of word games: rhyme time, before and after and anagrams - You can skip ahead...but don't. Check your answers - Whatever you have typed into the answer field will be submitted - Jeopardy! isn't a spelling test, and the online test is not a typing exam. Partial and misspelled responses will be considered. - Just do your best!
