Why the Montclair State MBA? Montclair State University is New Jersey s second largest university, with over 16,000 students in its undergraduate, master s and doctoral degree programs. It ranks as one of the top institutions in the region. The School of Business at Montclair State is accredited by AACSB International, the top standard for college-level business programs world-wide. Only about one third of the programs in North America hold this prestigious accreditation, a mark of excellence in business education. In 2005, the MBA program celebrated its 25th anniversary, marking a quarter century of transforming students lives through high-quality management education. It now serves more than 340 students on our main campus and through our satellite Saturday-only MBA program. MBA classes are small (usually no more than 25 students), allowing for a high level of interaction with faculty and fellow students. The Montclair State MBA is designed to meet the needs of working professionals. All MBA courses meet for a single 2-1/2 hour session each week, either on a weeknight (Monday- Thursday) from 7-9:30 p.m., or on Saturday. We also offer an accelerated two-year program of Saturday-only classes, held on the Lincroft campus of Brookdale Community College, in Monmouth County.

Frequently Asked Questions Are there any prerequisites for the MBA? The only prerequisite is an undergraduate course in calculus. If you didn t take calculus as an undergraduate, you may apply and be accepted to the Montclair State MBA program on a deferred or conditional basis, taking the required calculus course before you enroll in the basic MBA courses for which it is a prerequisite. Is work experience required? Work experience is not required for acceptance into the MBA program. However, work experience is considered in the admissions decision, and most Montclair MBA students have worked full time for 2-6 years before applying to the program. Is the GMAT required, and if so, what is the minimum score? Under what circumstances can the test be waived? The GMAT is an MBA requirement (the GRE cannot be substituted). You can begin an application portfolio before taking the GMAT, but all your credentials must be received before your application can be reviewed for admission. Although we look for GMAT scores of 500 or better, if your other credentials meet our standards, there is no fixed score that will prevent a review of your application. The Montclair State MBA program uses an AACSB scoring system to weigh academic performance. To calculate this, multiply your undergraduate GPA by 200, and then add your GMAT score. If the total is between 1100 and 1200, your GMAT score should be acceptable, if your other credentials are also strong. If the total is below 1100, your other credentials, such as work experience, may be particularly important in the admissions decision. Does your program have mostly full-time or part-time students? About 80% of our students are fully employed professionals and attend the University on a part-time basis. By sharing their work expertise with classmates and faculty, they greatly strengthen and enrich the MBA program. I plan to be a part-time MBA student. How many years do I have to complete the degree? A student has eight years to complete the MBA program, although most part-time students complete in less than four years. If you need to interrupt your studies for personal or professional reasons, a leave of absence can be granted for up to two years, and the leave time does not count against the degree time limit. Please visit our Web site for answers to more frequently asked questions: www.montclair.edu/mba. The GMAT may be waived only for applicants who submit proof of the following to Graduate Admissions: An earned terminal degree (Ph.D., M.D., or J.D.) in any discipline; or An earned M.S. degree with a significant quantitative component (e.g. in a discipline such as math, engineering, computer science, statistics), from an accredited U.S. college or university.
