Whether it s an Arm Barrier or a Pneumatic Bollard the control of both elements has been carefully tailored by the most experienced professionals in the field, using the highest components available in the market today. Our systems can be operated both manually or automatically, using any technologies in-hand, such as LPR, remote controls, cellular, magnetic cards, etc`.
Background: ELGOTEAM was founded in Israel in 1989 by David Hever and Yoram Eshel. The idea was to found a creative environment for development of new solutions in the security and parking facility markets to answer the demand for better and more reliable products and security systems. The founders recognized a growing demand for high tech, fast operating security products that incorporate new technologies that would be a step forward from traditional metal gates. Secure facilities and military clients wanted to have better control over their compounds. The access control market was growing in response to the increased worldwide threat of terrorist attacks. Israel was at a particularly high risk. This placed ELGOTEAM at the forefront of security product development and has positioned ELGOTEAM as one of the early innovators and most experienced developers of high security protection. After extensive Research & Development and numerous field tests, ELGOTEAM revealed its first bollard system. The system had a pneumatic heart ; operated by a heavy duty air compressor. It was to become an immediate must in every respectable security compound. The almost un-limited operations per hour limit, the near zero need for maintenance and the reliable control panel set a new standard. The pneumatic system with proprietary technology is nearly maintenance free resulting in the most reliable barrier security system available anywhere in the world. ELGOTEAM`S R&D department answered the need for several types of systems. While basing the heart of the system on pneumatic operation, ELGOTEAM created the heavy spike barrier, road blocker, a unique arm barrier, and a security arm barrier, as well as a unique bollard system. These products are now deployed around the world in the most demanding security environments and climates.
Applications of ELGOTEAM`S spike systems: As a barrier for exit lane or as an added safety device for entrance lane in one of the following: Secured compounds. Government facilities. Defense force facilities. Stadiums. Harbors. Airports. Hospitals. Storage facilities. Commercial and private property gates. Oil refineries.
Advantages of the : Heavy duty construction. Suitable for areas with foundation depth problems. The Pneumatic operation method of the spikes is safer, and requires a minimum of maintenance. The system has a one year warranty on all parts with an option for a long term service contract. Rising time of as little as 2 seconds. All weather capability. Simple and fast installation process. Aesthetically designed as a flat barrier to minimize visual appearance. The barrier allows full and immediate protection of the entire lane width. Custom painted and finished.
Operating positions: The picture shows the bi-directional spike system in both positions.
The system: The system is designed and built as a three component system; A. Compressor B. Control Cabinet C. A40 road block A. The Compressor: The system is driven by air; the source of this high pressured air is the compressor. ELGOTEAM S heavy duty reliable compressors require minimal maintenance. The compressor unit compresses the air into an attached tank. The air is piped to the main control cabinet and to the barrier. Every compressor is installed inside an acoustic cabinet to reduce the acoustical effect of the unit. The picture shows a compressor and an acoustic cabinet.
B. The Control Cabinet: Coming from the compressor unit, the air enters the control cabinet to be directed to control the system and synchronize the operation of the barrier and other components as needed. Two control cabinet types are available: Type A: A standard control cabinet for direct operation of the barrier The control cabinet contains all the items needed for the system operation: - Power supply unit - Loop detector - Open/close/cancel keys - Connectors for additional devices like signal lights, arm barrier, and spikes. - Air connectors and valves
Type B: The type B cabinet will synchronize all elements of the system; such as an arm barrier, road barrier operation, and a signal light. All devices synchronize for a smooth, continuous operation without manual intervention. A highly sophisticated PLC installed in this cabinet will give the system the ability to perform in almost every desired way. The type B cabinet can command a controlled operation between the barrier and the arm barrier in front so that the whole operation will be performed in consecutive stages. For example: - Car approaches (Signal light is red, arm is down and barrier is up). - Arm lowers. - Only after arm is lowered barrier is lowered as well. - Only when the barrier is down signal light turns green. - Car passes. The control cabinet contains all the items needed for the system operation: - Power supply unit - PLC logic controller - Loop detector - Open/close/cancel keys - Connectors for additional devices like signal lights, arm barrier, and spikes. - Air connectors and valves

C. The Bi-directional spike Barrier The barrier is spike type barrier, designed and manufactured by ELGOTEAM. The barrier incorporates modern technology and is suitable for current terror threats and access control projects. The system is designed to be a heavy-duty, fast operation and lowcost solution. The barrier is also suitable for locations where foundation depth is an issue the barrier requires only a 20 (50cm) deep foundation. The barrier is designed to maintain a one way traffic lane operation. It is installed 1 (2cm) above road level to insure a smooth drive on top at the desired direction. A locking of the spikes at a lowered position is also an option to maintain driving in both directions in certain times or in cases where the system is installed as an emergency device only (see diagram). DESCRIPTION The barrier is built from separate units, the first (main) unit will always include the operating enclosure on the side and the other slave units will be attached to it. The result is a custom made barrier depended on the needed length starting with a 90cm single unit and up to 5 more slave units in a row. The barrier is suitable for any type of vehicle including heavy trucks. This picture shows the main spike unit. The yellow part is the operating enclosure.
Structure: Each unit: 90 cm L, 23 cm W. Main unit size: diagram attached. Spike height: 5 cm above road level. Unit top plate: ST-37 steel,10 mm. Unit body: 3 mm steel 15 cm H, 19 cm W. Spikes: ST- 52 steel, 5 cm H, 1.5 cm W, the spikes are connected in pairs to gain strength. 72 mm between spike to spike. 75 mm between pairs. All barrier parts are Zinc coated to prevent corrosion. Operating time: Operating time: 1.5 sec`. Operating temperature: 0 C 54 C degrees under the following limitations: - No water froze inside the barrier body.
2 ways of using the spike barrier system are shown here: Diagram 1: Shows a one way lane work method. The default position of the spikes is up. Only out going vehicles are allowed. The barrier can be lowered upon the operator discretion to open the lane for incoming traffic as well. Diagram 2: Shows an emergency operation use of the barrier. The default position is down; barrier is activated only by manual operation from the check point when there is an immediate threat. The use of an arm barrier as an additional security measure is always recommended.

Safety accessories: Access control security is our area of expertise, but safety is first! Each system is designed and installed with a zero tolerance for error. This has been ELGOTEAM`S goal for more than 15 years, and has been proven throughout the years in numerous installations. To achieve this goal ELGOTEAM has developed the best safety accessories in the market: - Pneumatic safety arm barriers. As an added safety unit to the spike barrier, the arm barrier creates a visible barrier line at the height of the driver s eye, not to be missed. - Loop detectors. The loop detector is a magnetic loop to be installed around the spike barrier. It signals the system whenever a car is approaching or standing/passing above the barrier line. When this is installed, there is no possibility for improper operation of the barrier. - Signal lights. Several models are available. The signal lights are fully synchronized with the system operation. - Photoelectric eye. To be installed on the arm barrier to prevent a false operation of the arm at any time. - Warning lights. Several models are available. To be placed at the barrier line area for added safety and visibility.
Operation methods: ELGOTEAM`S spike system can be operated by almost any type of control method that exists today, among them: - Cellular control - Button operation - Remote control - Magnetic card readers - LPR License plate recognition systems - Proximity cards - Internet No matter the size of project, location or distance of the control center from the barrier line a suitable operation method can be installed to meet our client s requirements. The system can be custom programmed and designed to achieve the desired results.
