Postnatal enrolment from birth to 3 weeks. Babies over 3 weeks old will have a one-off visit from a lactation consultant to support lead maternity carers, doctors and Well Child providers. Registered mothers who require extra support with breastfeeding can also call 0800 B4Baby. The B4Baby service is available to Maaori, Pacific and Asian mothers from Mangere, Otara, Clendon, Papatoetoe, Manurewa and Papakura. Support and education are provided in a range of settings including the home, local community venues, marae, or the Coveney Clinic. The website has information for mothers and their supporters, personal stories, tips about how you can help and information for health professionals. DVD: Breastfeeding. Naturally : This follows nine women, showing the realities of breastfeeding for women and their families as well as tips for success. It is distributed to mums-to-be by their lead maternity carer and can also be viewed on the above website. Breastfeeding in the Workplace www.ers.dol.govt.nz All employers are required to provide facilities and unpaid breaks for employees who wish to breastfeed their infants or express milk during work hours. These provisions are part of the Employment Relations (Breaks, Infant Feeding and Other Matters) Amendment Act 2008. Work & Income Assistance www.workandincome.govt.nz/individuals Depending on individual circumstances and eligibility, assistance may be available for the hire or purchase of a breast pump through: Transition to Work Grant: if the mother is returning to work Special Needs Grant: if the mother cannot receive assistance elsewhere Disability Allowance: the cost of hire may be included in this allowance for a mother or child with an ongoing disability requiring a breast pump Temporary Additional Support: if ongoing disability costs already exceed the maximum rate of the Disability Allowance
