AIR QUALITY UPDATE 8-Hour Ozone Standard Revision Timeline By October 1, 2015 December 1, 2015 By October 1, 2016 By October 1, 2017 Final Rule Effective Date for Revised Standard 1 States to Submit Nonattainment Designation Recommendations 2 EPA Nonattainment Area Designations 3 2020 2037 Potential Attainment Dates for Revised Standard, Based on Region s Classification 1 Approximate - Effective date is 60 days after publication of Final Rule in the Federal Register. 2 States have one year from Final Rule to recommend areas to be designated as nonattainment under the revised 8-hour ozone standard. 3 EPA has two years from Final Rule to designate areas as nonattainment under the revised 8-hour ozone standard. 8
