ULE for Home Automation and Security The Smarter Home Automation Technology

The ULE Revolution Home Automation, Monitoring and Security, Energy Management and Remote Healthcare are fast-growing markets. In-home wireless systems addressing these markets are inexpensive, simple and safe - providing fast time to market, easy deployment, and excellent potential for mass adoption. Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT) is the standard for cordless phone communications worldwide. Available in over 110 countries and operating in some 600 million households, DECT is the dominant and most appropriate technology for voice services and realtime guaranteed data services at rates up to 1Mbps. With the introduction of the Ultra Low Energy (ULE) standard extension, DECT has become the ideal technology for home automation and security, as well. ULE features extremely low costs, low power consumption, long range (full house coverage with simple start topology), highlysuitable bit-rates, and value-added complementary voice and video capabilities. DSP Group s state-of-the-art product line provides the most advanced ULE chipset solutions from the world s DECT and ULE expert and standardization leader. Leading the ULE Revolution DSP Group is leading the ULE revolution. Providing a full in-house, one-stop-shop solution, DSP Group delivers ULE IC s, full ULE and Application Layer stacks, and Hardware/Software Reference Designs for both base stations and nodes. IDEAL FOR: Home Automation Security and Safety Remote Healthcare Energy Management 2

ULE for Home Automation and Security/Monitoring System Topology ULE utilizes star topology, taking advantage of an extended indoor (over 70meters/230feet) and outdoor (over 600meter/2000feet) range to provide full coverage without deployment of a costly mesh network. ULE is a SW protocol extension of the standard DECT, already deployed in millions of DECT gateways and standard (PSTN) base stations. These devices can be easily upgraded to support ULE for Home Automation and Security/Monitoring, while continuing to support legacy telephony. This enables operators and Telcos to generate new revenue streams with minimal OPEX. ULEbased devices will be suitable for diverse business models ranging from do-it-yourself (DIY) retailers to professional installers, and including self-or professional-monitored services.
