Weatherford s Field Office 2011 software suite release is designed to help exploration and production companies optimize production from any field whether conventional or unconventional with naturally flowing and/or artificially lifted wells. The main objective is to help operators and engineers optimize the asset using real-time data and mathematical simulation models to minimize lifting costs and downtime. A significant increase in interest in shale and heavy-oil assets around the globe has led to many new features in the Field Office 2011 suite to monitor, analyze and optimize production from such assets. What is new for the 2011 suite? One key addition to the Field Office 2011 family is the CygNet product line. The CygNet enterprise operations platform (EOP) is currently used to monitor more than 250,000 wells in North America, and is now part of Weatherford s real-time integrated production optimization solution. The CygNet SCADA module is comprised of several building blocks, including SCADA functions, protocol drivers, alarm management, security and a robust and efficient historian. CygNet s pipeline module is widely used to monitor transportation of gas throughout North America safely. The original applications of the Field Office family introduce many new functions. The LOWIS real-time production optimization solution now supports optimization of progressing cavity pumping (PCP) and gaslifted wells. The detailed analysis workbenches of these two lift types will help identify problematic wells through intelligent alarms and assist in running equipment at optimum settings so that production, as well as the life of the equipment, is maximized. Loading of gas wells with liquids is one of the main challenges faced when optimizing wells in shale fields. The newly added deliquification module in LOWIS software monitors gas production as well as liquid loading using real-time engineering calculations. This assists well analysts to take the right remedial actions, including the correct artificial-lift method selection proactively. WellFlo software, the artificial-lift design and analysis module of the Field Office suite, now supports plunger lift and jet pumps. Plunger-lift operators now have the ability to use WellFlo software to model gas-well deliquification. 2
Field Office 2011 Software Suite Overview For many assets, full-field real-time optimization which is based on sub-surface, well and facilities models is vital as bottlenecks could be present anywhere in the production system. In Field Office 2011, the i-do solution designed for managing these systems in a real-time environment is significantly enhanced to help the interdisciplinary team manage complex assets through a collaboration center. Extracting the correct information from various data bases and presenting it in the right form is required for quick and efficient analysis which ultimately augments efficiency of the entire asset-management team from asset manager to the operator. The new key-performance-indicator (KPI) tracking functionality provides an overview of the asset s performance with one click, while the issuetracking feature keeps engineers and maintenance crews in synch. Field Office suite modules include many new features, like the integration of LOWIS and ReO software for facilities optimization of electric submersible pumping (ESP) assets, parallel processing technology in the PanMesh application to achieve the maximum benefit of multi-core processors and an improved solver in the MatBal module. To handle the diversity involved with collecting real-time data from different assets of various lift types, the Field Office suite uses open standards that ensure existing hardware and software tools are incorporated into the production optimization solution. This suite supports various mechanisms including web services and production markup language (ProdML) for data integration, and object-linking and embedding (OLE) for process controls (OPC ) to access realtime systems. Weatherford is committed to providing world-class solutions for maximizing production from any asset while minimizing CAPEX and OPEX. With the release of Field Office 2011, we have achieved another milestone in offering a unified real-time production optimization portal for all artificial-lift types. WSM 2011 well-service manager WSM tour sheet wizard cost capture During production, wells that are down need immediate attention to reverse lost revenue back to production. Every hour, day or days that a well waits for a rig repair is a liability so operators need to find ways to bring wells on line as fast as possible. Adding more rigs to a field operation is not always the answer. Without an organized way of administering additional rigs, you can end up with more downtime for your resources. Getting production started faster after a well installation or repair requires having the precise assets ready for each job at the appropriate time. Rigs waiting on materials to arrive or a high-priority well waiting for a rig are both detrimental to starting wells in a timely manner. The WSM module in LOWIS software provides an efficient way to gather and store well information for effectively managing all well activities and the assets used for those events. The applications that make up this program present you with the ability to track, view and manage drilling and well intervention jobs in an organized way that enables you to make better decisions regarding resource usage, well prioritization and allocation of operational funds. With WSM software, you get more from your assets and can be confident when it is time to make additions because you have the information needed to effectively use your resources. RMS 2011 reservoir monitoring system RMS software is highly flexible, scalable data acquisition software that supports Weatherford s production optimization reservoir monitoring optical sensing and electronic gauge product lines. RMS software is a combination of embedded software implemented on custom electronic subsystems and application software that is executed on field-hardened Intel computers running a Microsoft Windows operating system. The design approach uses high-level components of Weatherford s RMS system for optical sensing systems. A similar architecture supports electronic gauge systems and combined optical sensing and electronic gauge systems. PanQL home page with Log-Log plot DTSPlus LinkBox WIS A two-tier architecture fully enables the separation of the data collection activities from the delivery of the results to the acquisition systems. Embedded software resides on the digital signal processor (DSP) of the optical interrogator. The data collection engine (DCE) running on the instrument computer manages the data acquisition process and schedules signal processing algorithms to compute pressure and temperature. The algorithm manager manages the execution of these calculations. Reliable operation of these devices is ensured by Weatherford Launcher, a design component capable of self-health diagnosis and autonomous failure recovery. What is new for version 2011? Field Office 2011 Software Suite Overview DTSPlus 2011 temperature profiling Weatherford s DTSPlus software is a standalone program designed to easily read, view and manipulate temperature profiling data, such as distributed temperature sensing (DTS) and array temperature sensing (ATS). The application is specifically suited for users of temperature profiling and monitoring data in the oil and gas industry. The software runs on Microsoft Windows-based PCs or servers and is capable of single or multiple, simultaneous users. The program can read and write from many different database formats, including open standards formats, WITSML and PRODML. DTS and point temperature data are easily viewed and manipulated for quick visualization and evaluation of multiple, time-lapse temperature profiles from multiple wells and vendors. DTSPlus software can also be used to identify and select traces that can be used for post-processing and detailed analysis. RigPlan 2011 resource scheduling Weatherford s RigPlan desktop scheduling tool provides the visualization and control needed to ensure that rigs and assets are effectively used. The user interface offers a multilevel calendar that displays where each rig is currently working, its expected completion time and the time frame for the next scheduled job. RigPlan resource scheduling Times are updated based on input from the WSM application in the Field Office suite. If a job is running long, the user can see the effect it will have on future jobs and enables rescheduling to better use rigs to avoid unnecessary downtime. The application provides more than just a calendar of scheduled events. Operators using RigPlan software can take advantage of opportunistic scheduling, meaning that if there is an opening in the schedule a rig can be rescheduled to a nearby job even though it may not be the highest priority task in the queue. It enables the operator to take other factors into consideration such as location of nearby rig and expected time to complete the task verses travel time to a different task. This feature enables all the rigs to be used optimally rather than just executing jobs in the original priority order. How does this application help improve job performance?
