NV Energy President & CEO Paul Caudill McGinniss Hills Geothermal Lander County, Nevada Renewable Energy Growth Benefits Customers NV Energy customers continue to benefit from one of the most diverse renewable energy portfolios in the nation. At the end of 2014, 40 separate renewable energy projects in Nevada were producing for customers. Renewable energy growth in 2015 was also promising, as a large geothermal energy project expansion achieved commercial operation status and two additional solar resources were under construction. If all of these projects produced their nameplate capacity at the same time, it would power nearly 700,000 Nevada homes. RECENT RENEWABLE ENERGY GROWTH Early in 2014, the 20-megawatt Mountain View Solar project located in North Las Vegas was added to NV Energy s renewable energy portfolio. Late in the year, the 17.5-megawatt Searchlight Solar project achieved commercial operation. It is located about 50 miles south of Las Vegas. The McGinness Hills Geothermal Energy Project in central Nevada added 48 megawatts of renewable energy to NV Energy s portfolio in early 2015. That project can now produce up to an impressive 96 megawatts of around-theclock geothermal energy for customers. SIGNIFICANT ADDITIONS SCHEDULED FOR 2015 Later in 2015, the 110-megawatt Crescent Dunes solar project is scheduled to achieve commercial operation. This new technology solar project will store its energy in the form of molten salt, which can then be used to drive a conventional steam-turbine generator during cloudy periods or even during the nighttime hours when southern Nevada customer air-conditioning needs are still very high. By the end of 2015, the 15-megawatt Nellis Solar Array II project is expected to be completed. This project is located on the Nellis Air Force Base and is owned by NV Energy. REDUCING RELIANCE ON COAL NV Energy is continuing its effort to reduce its reliance on coal-fueled generation and replace that capacity with renewable energy and clean natural gas generation. At the end of 2014, three 100-megawatt generating units at the coal-fueled Reid Gardner Generating Station were permanently shut down. The remaining 257-megawatt generating unit will be shut down at the end of 2017. Additionally, NV Energy will end its ownership and use of coal-fueled generation from the Navajo Generating Station in Arizona at the end of 2019. SOLAR ENERGY TO EXPAND IN NEVADA To help compensate for this loss of generation, NV Energy has finalized 20- year agreements to purchase the output from two new 100-megawatt solar plants under development in Southern Nevada. If approved by the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada, NV Energy will purchase the output from SunPower s Boulder Solar project under development in Boulder City, and First Solar s Switch Station project under development within the federal Bureau of Land Management s Dry Lake Solar Energy Zone northeast of Las Vegas. Due to remarkable advances in solar technology, the first-year price of both contracts are considered to be the lowest in the country. EXCEEDING NEVADA S RENEWABLE REQUIREMENTS Similar to the past five years, NV Energy exceeded the state-required Renewable Portfolio Standard. In its Portfolio Standard Annual Report for 2014, NV Energy reported that its northern operating company achieved a 33.6 percent level and southern Nevada achieved a 20.2 percent Renewable Portfolio Standard. NV Energy is well on its way of achieving the required 25 percent by 2025. ROOFTOP SOLAR PARTNERSHIPS GROW DRAMATICALLY More customers took advantage of NV Energy incentives for rooftop solar and other RenewableGenerations installations in 2014 than any previous year. More than $30 million was paid to customers, as applications and paid incentives accelerated in 2015. NV Energy is helping to install more than one rooftop customer solar system every two hours.

Geothermal Energy Association s 2014 Annual U.S. & Global Geothermal Power Production Report NV Energy Helps Advance Renewable Energy in Nevada CRESCENT DUNES SOLAR IN FINAL CONSTRUCTION & TESTING PHASE This 110-megawatt solar project in south-central Nevada will shift the solar energy paradigm by harnessing the sun s thermal energy during the sunny times of the day and providing much needed power during the evening periods and during intermittent cloud cover. The technology uses 10,347 large mirror assemblies to heat up liquid salt to 1050 degrees Fahrenheit. That heated salt is stored in a hot salt tank and then used when needed to create steam, which drives a steam turbine and generates electricity night or day to approximately 66,000 typical Nevada households. NEW APPLE DATA CENTER TO BE 100% GREEN Thanks to an imaginative plan developed by Apple, Inc. and NV Energy, Apple s new data center in the Reno/Sparks area is being powered by 100 percent renewable energy. Apple built a 19.5-megawatt solar array at NV Energy s Ft. Churchill Generating Station near Yerington, Nevada. The project achieved commercial operation in August of 2015, and NV Energy will operate and dispatch the plant. Apple, in turn, will own all the renewable portfolio credits produced at the plant and will pay the approved Green Rate for those credits to offset energy consumed at the data center. SEPA NAMES NV ENERGY TO TOP 10 LIST NV Energy was named among the 10 utilities that integrated the most megawatts of solar energy in the United States in 2014, earning a spot on the Solar Electric Power Association s annual Top 10 utility solar listings. A Decade of Helping Customers Save Money With Power From the Sun More NV Energy customers have been taking advantage of renewable energy incentives in the past year than any previous year in the history of the company. SolarGenerations has helped fund solar installations at more than 3,000 Nevada homes. To date, NV Energy has provided more than $230 million in special incentives for rooftop solar installations, solar water heating, small hydro and small wind generation. Under the RenewableGenerations program, these incentives have benefitted residential and large customers, schools, public buildings, and nonprofits. Remarkably, the capacity of these installations at customer locations is more than 75 megawatts, or enough energy to supply about 45,000 Nevada households. Said another way, the environmental benefit of that amount of renewable energy for a full year is equivalent to keeping about 95,000 passenger vehicles off the roads. NV Energy is supporting the installation of residential rooftop solar systems at a rate of one every two hours. RENEWABLEGENERATIONS AND NEVADA SCHOOLS Thanks to NV Energy and its customers, thousands of Nevada students better understand renewable energy, how it works to generate electricity, and how it helps their schools save energy costs. More than $112 million in RenewableGenerations rebates have been shared with 305 schools throughout Nevada. Lowering school utility bills certainly helps stretch Nevada s educational budgets. But more importantly, these renewable energy installations can spawn new understandings, ideas and energy discoveries from the next generation.
