In my Master s degree, I was given the opportunity to acquaint myself with technology support of E-Learning, acquire a deep interest in the field and complete a thesis on E-Learning Strategies in Cyprus Higher Education. My research interests further include collaborative work in virtual communities, and personalisation and user adaptive systems, supporting online and learning communities and large social networks. Through the BRAIN project I also became interested in modelling and supporting community collaboration for the creation of innovation in industry and academia. Furthermore, I would be interested to investigate the possibilities for how semantic web and Web 2.0 technologies can be exploited to support social systems and virtual communities especially in the processes of knowledge sharing and collaborative learning. I have extensive experience in developing programs using the JAVA language and MySQL database and also developing programs that use and reason through semantic technologies (e.g. OWL ontologies). During my PhD work I had to design and develop algorithms that extracted information from databases, ontologies and mining graphs in order for support to be generated to community members.
