3 WHAT IS THE BBA PROGRAM? This four-year, rigorous business degree program provides graduates with the knowledge and skills necessary for successful careers at for-profit or not-for-profit organizations. Business graduates will not only have a strong business foundation but also a broad exposure to the arts and sciences in the core curriculum studying the physical sciences, the social sciences and the humanities. 5 BBA PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS WHAT COURSES DO STUDENTS TAKE? Required Courses 48 Credits (3 credits per course) Business Essentials Introduction to Financial Accounting Introduction to Microeconomics Introduction to Macroeconomics Finance Essentials Organizational Behaviour Marketing Human Resource Management Business Information Systems Production Operations Public Relations Fraud Examination Business Ethics and Social Responsibility Business Law Canada Project Management Business Statistics Elective Courses Choose 12 Credits, including a minimum of 6 credits from the italicized courses (3 credits per course) Managerial Accounting Leadership Marketing in a Not-for-Profit Environment Selected Topics in Business Business Strategy International Business Business Application Project Independent Study in Business Advanced Selected Topics in Business A minimum of 120 credit hours. A minimum of 42 credit hours in arts and sciences (general core curriculum). A minimum of 60 credit hours at the senior level. Specific program requirements: 60 credit hours in business, including 48 credit hours of required courses and 12 credit hours of electives in the discipline. Other Degree Requirements: All BBA students are required to take either Introduction to Psychology (6 credits) or Introduction to Sociology (6 credits) for their social science in the general core. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES: A wide variety of fulfilling career options is available to a graduate with a Bachelor of Business Administration including: general manager, account manager, entrepreneur, business analyst, junior financial advisor, loans officer, auditor, human resource manager, fundraiser, public relations manager, and so much more!
6 FOUR-WEEK INTENSIVE ORIENTATION PROGRAM All students have access to free tutoring, academic workshops, exam study sessions and drop-in advising. SETTING YOU UP FOR SUCCESS! While all new university students have to deal with demanding course work and the adjustment from high school to university, international students have the additional challenges of adjusting to a new culture, living in Canada, being away from home, and studying in English. In partnership with Heartland International English School (www.heartlandenglish.com), Booth UC s international students take part in an intensive one-month, multi-skill orientation program to help with their transition to life in Canada and prepare them for success in their university studies. Held in the summer prior to the start of school year, this four-week University Preparation Course is 100 hours of instruction that will allow you to polish your English skills without the pressure of university course work. As part of this comprehensive program, you will have academic English classes to prepare you for essay writing, note taking, presenting and speaking in class, and other academic skills. The program will also help you adjust in Canada and set you up for academic success. When classes start in September you will already have a bank account set up, a health card in hand, you ll know your way around the city, and so much more.
7 ACADEMIC LEARNING CENTRE University-level learning can be overwhelming for many students, especially for those who are also in a new country and far from home. At Booth UC, the staff at our Academic Learning Centre are here to help. They can help structure your semester and assist in developing reading and writing skills, effective note taking, advanced online research and correct bibliography writing. You can also take advantage of free one-on-one tutoring, academic workshops, exam study sessions and drop-in advising. Every Booth UC student is assigned their own personal librarian to ensure quick, individualized support. JOHN FAIRBANK MEMORIAL LIBRARY The hub of any post-secondary institution is the library and John Fairbank Memorial Library is Booth s essential source for scholarly information and documentation that supports all academic disciplines. Another unique aspect of Booth UC is that every student is assigned their own personal library assistant to ensure superior support and quick service. The library has a computer lab and a comprehensive collection of books, journals, videos, audiotapes, CDs, maps and microfilms. Students also have 24-hour-a-day access to nearly 80,000 ebooks and other electronic resources a collection that continues to grow and change to remain current. URBAN SERVICE LEARNING One of the most enriching and memorable parts of the Booth UC experience is our unique Urban Service Learning program. As a first-year business student, you ll participate in an introductory course that explores Booth s principles of hope, justice and mercy within the context of an urban service learning experience. Focusing on such social concerns as homelessness, exploitation, illiteracy and poverty, you ll step out of the classroom to become immersed in service to the poor and vulnerable people living in the heart of Winnipeg. You ll learn about compassion, responsibility and service. You ll build self-awareness, acquire leadership skills, and gain an in-depth knowledge of the causes of injustice, inequality and suffering around the world.

9 LIVING ON CAMPUS! Booth s residence is housed on the upper levels of our main campus building, providing a safe and secure environment for students. All residence floors are gender-specific, and alcohol, drugs and smoking are prohibited. Comfortable Living with On-Call Support You'll have a newly redecorated room with everything you need to feel like you re at home, including a comfy bed, desk, chair and plenty of wall space for photos. Every residence floor has a shared TV and lounge space, as well as pay-as-you-go laundry facilities and a student storage area. WIFI is available everywhere on campus, the main floor has a big screen TV and pool table, there is an outdoor BBQ patio on the third floor, and students also have access to a full kitchen. Importantly, with live-in staff and a Residence Assistant just down the hall - support is always available when you need it. Our campus residence has live-in staff and a Residence Assistant who is always ready to provide academic, social and spiritual leadership and support. Healthy Mind, Body and Spirit: Extra-Curricular Fun Maintaining a good study-life balance is important to your overall health. To help pay for their education, a lot of students will take on a parttime job. You can work on or off campus during your studies and all part-time jobs pay $10.25 CAD or more per hour. A $500 SCHOLARSHIP is available to all international students with an entering average of 70% or higher. All five courses must be at the S (Specialized), 41G (General) or U (Dual Credit University) level. Included in the five must be English and Math. International students are expected to have educational standing considered to be the equivalent of the requirements for secondary school graduation or post-secondary transfer in the province of Manitoba. All applicants whose primary language is not English must provide evidence of proficiency in English by taking the TOEFL test (minimum score 550 paper-based; 213 computer-based) OR IELTS test (minimum score 6.5 paper-based).
