Since 2008, Eberspächer Electronics has been a part of this successful group. The subsidiary company was the result of a takeover of the business division FlexRay/Bus Systems from the Transferzentrum Mikroelektronik (TZM), belonging to Steinbeis GmbH & Co. KG für Technologietransfer in Stuttgart, Germany, which was founded in 1991 in Göppingen. Eberspächer Electronics are the experts in automotive bus systems and are considered pioneering in the area of FlexRay bus systems: since 1996, we have been developing hard- and software for TTP bus systems and, since 1999, we have been concentrating on FlexRay technology. We were developing and producing various hardware platforms for the evaluation of FlexRay for customer projects very early on. As a result of these projects, we now have a complete portfolio of a wide range of hard- and software products for FlexRay and beyond. More than 30 employees work in our development department to ensure continuous improvement and expansion of our product range, as well as tailor-made solutions for you. 6 AUTOmotive bus systems NETWORKING WITH FLEXRAY Open data bus with many benefits Electronic control units and electronic components are an important part of modern vehicle design today. In order to guarantee the smooth transfer of data between all components, standardized communication busses are used. Constantly increasing requirements for data rates and data security also require time-triggered bus systems. The open bus standard FlexRay not only fulfills these requirements, but also provides you with numerous other advantages. As a bus system it was specially developed for use in vehicles and also for extreme climatic applications. With a data transfer rate ten times higher than that of a similar CAN bus, you can transfer large amounts of data quickly, easily and reliably. A secure transfer of your data is also ensured by the two-channel structure of the bus system, which will enable you to profit from the redundancy of the system in your applications. And all this can also be deterministic, because with FlexRay you have the option of repeating cycles of messages in allocated fixed time slots with a high bandwidth. The FlexRay bus system can be individually adapted to your requirements and is extremely flexible it can even be used in applications other than vehicles. Since as early as 2006, the open FlexRay data bus has been used in numerous production applications. The problem is that often the necessary communication partners are missing. With our combination of hard- and software, Eberspächer Electronics provides you with the perfect solution for the simulation of missing components as a remaining bus, in order to execute comprehensive and informative testing of your prototypes. Our hardware platform FlexXCon is not only impressive due to its robust structure, which can be used in any testing conditions from the laboratory to extreme practical application but also has variable interfaces and can be used in various different bus systems such as CAN and FlexRay. This significantly increases the range of applications possible for your control unit tests. In combination with a PC application, you can easily and simply configure the layout of your remaining bus simulation according to your specific requirements via a clearly laid out Windows interface. Even if you wish to manipulate signals or data during the application, this can easily be done via an Ethernet connection on your test bench computer. For the simple and secure transfer of data between numerous bus systems, there is also a gateway function built in to our FlexXCon hardware. For your control unit development, this means that you have an effective tool available, which not only enables communication between networks, but also allows you to influence the data transfer. You can manipulate signals, delete them or create new ones, thereby simulating the unique testing conditions required for your control unit prototypes. And all this can also be done with various different networks: the FlexXCon hardware is also capable of transferring data from a CAN to a FlexRay bus. In order to evaluate this data and present it more clearly, you need an effective tool for data analysis. The software solution developed by Eberspächer Electronics covers all the basic functions for measuring and analyzing networks in vehicles. In this way, you can monitor your test set-up more effectively. In order to take as many test conditions into account as possible during data analysis, the data assessment works with our PC application both online and offline. This provides you with the necessary flexibility required to work with the software individually and with different vehicle busses. At Eberspächer Electronics we believe that a clearly laid out graphic display is extremely important. The basic framework of our data analysis software also offers the option of carrying out expanded analyses and can be used for special applications. Numerous open interfaces, which can connect various different hardware components, make our solution a flexible and adaptable tool that can be used for much more than simply data collection. Last but not least, the analysis software also has a fault analysis function for intensive vehicle testing. We offer a comprehensive range of interface products for connecting your PC or laptop to automotive bus systems such as CAN or FlexRay.
