Page 2 of 5 Overview: If you want to distribute a paid app to ios devices, you will use the Apple Volume Purchase Program (VPP). The Apple VPP enables organizations to purchase available applications in bulk for distribution. Any paid app from the App Store is available for volume purchase. Note: You must be enrolled in Apple s VPP program in order to purchase applications in bulk. If your school or department does not have a program facilitator account (ex. Schoolnamepf1@cps.edu), please contact the service desk to have an account created. Purchasing Applications: You will go through a two-part process to deploy application in bulk through the Apple VPP. 1.App Purchasing: purchase applications in bulk throughout the VPP website. Please see documents and video available on the ipads.cps.edu website for instructions. 2.Application Deployment: distribute the applications throughout your device fleet using redemption codes in the AirWatch Admin Console. Directions: Deploying VPP Applications in AirWatch The first step to manage and deploy VPP application orders through AirWatch is to upload the Apple VPP Redemption Code Spreadsheet to the AirWatch Admin Console. Note: You must purchase the application and download the spreadsheet from Apple s VPP site (volume.itunes.apple.com) before continuing. 1.Navigate to Apps & Books > Applications > Orders. 2.Select Add and then select Purchased Public App. 3.Click Choose File to upload the CSV or XLS files that you downloaded from the Apple Portal. 4.Click Save to continue to the Product Selection Form. 5.Click Select to finish uploading the spreadsheet. Page 3 of 5 Assigning and Publishing Redemption Codes: After you upload the VPP Redemption Code Spreadsheet you can allocate the redemption codes for individual app purchases for your smart group assignments. You must enable the AirWatch Admin Console to assign redemption codes to device smart groups. Directions: Assigning Redemption Codes to Smart Groups 1.Navigate to Apps & Books > Applications > Orders. 2.Locate the specific order to enable and allocate redemption codes. 3.Select Edit Assignment tab. 4.Click Add Assignment By and select Smart Group. from the Actions menu and then select the Assignment 5.Click Select Smart Group and select the Smart Group you want the app to be accessible to. Note: You can select more than one Smart Group. 6.Verify the information in the following columns for each Smart Group row: A.Users: ignore this column. Information & Technology Services 42 W. Page 4 of 5 B.Allocated: enter the number of licenses to allocate. This entry should not exceed the total number in the order. C.Redeemed: view the number of licenses that have already been redeemed, if any. 7.Enter the number of redemption codes that you want to place on hold in the Redemption Codes On Hold field. Use this field to save the redemption codes for later use that you will not be assigning at this time. 8.Select the Assignment Type in the deployment section to on-demand. 9.Have the Remove On Unenroll box checked so when a device is unenrolled from AirWatch Admin Console, the application will be removed from the device. 8 10 9 10.Prevent Application Backup and Use VPN option should both be unchecked. 11.Review your order and then click Save. 13.Click Publish 12.Navigate to Apps & Books > Applications > List View > Purchased.
