If you want to attract a steady stream of ideal clients who are eager and ready to work with you, then you need to match your marketing message and offer to the exact person you would be overjoyed to serve. And that client needs to feel that you are the ideal person to help them solve their problems, end their suffering and achieve their goals.
You are an expert. The wisdom, knowledge, and experience you possess have the power to transform lives. But you won t be able to help others achieve the lasting transformation they deeply desire if they do not know you exist or say yes to working with you. Your ideal client needs to connect with their deepest emotional reason as to why it makes sense to invest in your program. When they feel the emotional connection to what you are offering, they will joyfully invest. How do you create the emotional connection between your ideal client and your offer? Start by understanding who your ideal client is, and what they really, truly want. Step 1: Define Your Ideal Client Avatar To do this, you will need to begin by identifying your ideal client / customer profile. Start by indicating some of the key customer demographics that represent your ideal client, such as: Age Income Level Gender Marital Status Location Language Hobbies / Interests Then include some of their character attributes, such as: Decisive - said today, done tomorrow Positive and optimistic Strong & powerful Self-starter Take their business seriously Ready to take action Give your avatar a name: Now describe this ideal client as if you were describing someone you know to another friend.
Step 2: Pick A Problem That Your Ideal Client Struggles To Overcome Chances are, if you are an expert, you have a pretty good idea of how you can help your ideal client with your expertise. Chances are, your ideal client probably has a lot of problems you can help them overcome. Pick one. Write down 5 problems your ideal client struggles to overcome. Pick the one problem you feel MOST inspired to solve. Step 3: Identify Your Ideal Client s Pain Imagine you are your ideal client. How does it feel to be suffering their pain and struggle? Write down some of the painful feelings that come to mind. For example: Overwhelmed, frustrated, depressed...
Write down some of the thoughts that come to mind. For example: I ve spent so much time creating my message on my website, but nobody is responding - what am I doing wrong? Step 4: Identify Your Ideal Client s Most Desired Outcome Imagine you are your ideal client. How would you feel, after months or years of struggle and hardship, to finally achieve your deepest desires? Write down some of the pleasurable feelings that come to mind. For example: Light. Fulfilled. Overjoyed! Write down some of the thoughts that come to mind. For example: I feel relieved. Relaxed. Like I ve FINALLY arrived.
Now you have the words that you can use in your marketing message that show your ideal client that you understand their pain and can help them get to their goal. Whenever you create your website copy, write email newsletters, or speak on video, imagine that you are talking to your customer avatar - just one person - as a friend who cares. II. Solve Your Ideal Client s Problem When you have a clear idea of your ideal client s pain point, as well as their most desired outcome, you can now map out a solution that will allow your client to escape their painful predicament and get to their pleasurable destination. If you are an expert, chances are you already possess the knowledge, wisdom and experience to offer an actionable solution for your ideal client. If you are totally new to the industry and are unsure of what product or service you want to sell, you can still use basic market research techniques - such as researching best-selling Amazon.com products, or browsing online forums to create a problem-solving lead magnet that builds a targeted lead list. Step 1: Find a friend or colleague to interview you for an hour. Find a friend or colleague who is genuinely interested in the desired outcome, or a solution to the specific problem, but has little knowledge about the topic. Give your friend a list of 5 questions they can ask you (that best positions your expertise) on how to solve the specific problem. Encourage your interviewer to ask their own questions. Verb + Desired Outcome. Alternatively you can describe a transformation from an undesirable state to a desirable one. Figure out what action you want your ideal prospect to take and indicate a juicy benefit they will receive by taking that action.
