It s typically a digital download file - like an audio MP3, PDF guide, ebook, or video MP4 file that is given away for free as an incentive to join an email list. Your lead magnet serves 2 purposes: 1. To get qualified prospects 2. Onto your email list A well-designed lead magnet will ensure that the people who join your email list are your ideal clients people who you know you can help, you would love to help, who will be tremendously helped by you. A poorly designed lead magnet will build a list of unresponsive, unqualified prospects and make your email marketing efforts feel like throwing spaghetti on the wall. An irresistible lead magnet consists of the following key components: 1. Your ideal client profile 2. Your unique solution to your ideal client s problem 3. Your irresistible title 4. Your compelling call-to-action 5. Your juicy digital product I. Market Definition: Your Ideal Client Profile When you try to market to everybody, you end up appealing to nobody. If you want to attract a steady stream of ideal clients who are eager and ready to work with you, then you need to match your marketing message and offer to the exact person you would be overjoyed to serve. And that client needs to feel that you are the ideal person to help them solve their problems, end their suffering and achieve their goals.

You are an expert. The wisdom, knowledge, and experience you possess have the power to transform lives. But you won t be able to help others achieve the lasting transformation they deeply desire if they do not know you exist or say yes to working with you. Your ideal client needs to connect with their deepest emotional reason as to why it makes sense to invest in your program. When they feel the emotional connection to what you are offering, they will joyfully invest. How do you create the emotional connection between your ideal client and your offer? Start by understanding who your ideal client is, and what they really, truly want. Step 1: Define Your Ideal Client Avatar To do this, you will need to begin by identifying your ideal client / customer profile. Start by indicating some of the key customer demographics that represent your ideal client, such as: Age Income Level Gender Marital Status Location Language Hobbies / Interests Then include some of their character attributes, such as: Decisive - said today, done tomorrow Positive and optimistic Strong & powerful Self-starter Take their business seriously Ready to take action Give your avatar a name: Now describe this ideal client as if you were describing someone you know to another friend.

Step 2: Pick A Problem That Your Ideal Client Struggles To Overcome Chances are, if you are an expert, you have a pretty good idea of how you can help your ideal client with your expertise. Chances are, your ideal client probably has a lot of problems you can help them overcome. Pick one. Write down 5 problems your ideal client struggles to overcome. Pick the one problem you feel MOST inspired to solve. Step 3: Identify Your Ideal Client s Pain Imagine you are your ideal client. How does it feel to be suffering their pain and struggle? Write down some of the painful feelings that come to mind. For example: Overwhelmed, frustrated, depressed...

Write down some of the thoughts that come to mind. For example: I ve spent so much time creating my message on my website, but nobody is responding - what am I doing wrong? Step 4: Identify Your Ideal Client s Most Desired Outcome Imagine you are your ideal client. How would you feel, after months or years of struggle and hardship, to finally achieve your deepest desires? Write down some of the pleasurable feelings that come to mind. For example: Light. Fulfilled. Overjoyed! Write down some of the thoughts that come to mind. For example: I feel relieved. Relaxed. Like I ve FINALLY arrived.

Now you have the words that you can use in your marketing message that show your ideal client that you understand their pain and can help them get to their goal. Whenever you create your website copy, write email newsletters, or speak on video, imagine that you are talking to your customer avatar - just one person - as a friend who cares. II. Solve Your Ideal Client s Problem When you have a clear idea of your ideal client s pain point, as well as their most desired outcome, you can now map out a solution that will allow your client to escape their painful predicament and get to their pleasurable destination. If you are an expert, chances are you already possess the knowledge, wisdom and experience to offer an actionable solution for your ideal client. If you are totally new to the industry and are unsure of what product or service you want to sell, you can still use basic market research techniques - such as researching best-selling Amazon.com products, or browsing online forums to create a problem-solving lead magnet that builds a targeted lead list. Step 1: Find a friend or colleague to interview you for an hour. Find a friend or colleague who is genuinely interested in the desired outcome, or a solution to the specific problem, but has little knowledge about the topic. Give your friend a list of 5 questions they can ask you (that best positions your expertise) on how to solve the specific problem. Encourage your interviewer to ask their own questions. If the person is genuinely interested in the topic, chances are, they will ask you questions you never anticipated, which will create a much better interview. Write down your 5 questions:

Option 1: Desired Outcome Title Structure Use a noun that describes the unique, irresistible outcome that your ideal client deeply desires. Adjective + Desired Outcome. For example: Bestseller in a Weekend Hollywood Abs Coffee Shop Millionaire Engaged At Any Age Endless Clients Conscious Millionaire Smart, Passive Income Millionaire Messenger Suitcase Entrepreneur Click Millionaires Option 2: Verb to desired outcome This structure leverages an action word - a verb - to achieve that desired outcome. Verb + Desired Outcome. Alternatively you can describe a transformation from an undesirable state to a desirable one. Old State to New State For example: Single to Soulmate Calling in the One Meet to Marry Attract Clients Now Tapping Into Wealth (EFT)

Option 3: Secret System to Desired Outcome This structure implies that a secret process exists that will fast-track your ideal client to your desired outcome - if only you knew what it was! Desired Outcome Secrets / Formula / Blueprint For example: 6-Figure Funnel Formula Asian Beauty Secrets Guru Blueprint Product Launch Formula Passive Income Blueprint Client Captivating Video Blueprint Selling from the Soul (could be process or desired outcome) Bestseller in a Weekend (could be process or desired outcome) Option 4: End Your Pain This structure relies on understanding your ideal client s pain, by offering the promise to end their suffering. IV. Create Your Compelling Call-to-Action This is a statement that indicates the action you want your visitor to take. You may include the call-to-action on your opt-in page, in any promotional banners you create, and even in the lead magnet itself. Figure out what action you want your ideal prospect to take and indicate a juicy benefit they will receive by taking that action. Join over 400,000 fellow marketers. V. Design Your Juicy Lead Magnet Now it s time to decide what you want your juicy lead magnet to be, and then create it. Step 1: Create your media You have the foundational information the audio transcript. From here, you a number of choices: Create a 7-10 page downloadable PDF Guide Create a script so you can record a 4-part video training series. Create a script so you can record a 60-90 minute webinar training. Step 2: Create your digital product image Digital products are almost always represented as if they were physical products. Unless you ve been living under a rock, chances are, you ve purchased software online via a checkout page with a graphic of a CD Rom box, but you got the product via a download link immediately after purchase. Or you purchased a video online, and the checkout page featured a DVD box. You are going to create a similar graphic for your lead magnet. Here are some examples I ve created:
