Navigating the Landing Page The homepage is divided into two main parts: My Subscriptions in the middle and Learning Students on the right. My Subscriptions Each book has an entry with the title and the cover of the book, as shown on the left. Some books may have multiple links associated the title, but all will have at least one link with the program. This link will take you directly into your Online Edition for that title. Other links include Electronic Interactive Presentations, which we ll cover later, and State-specific Resources. Overview of the Homepage My Students The blue column on the right is where teachers can manage the online class. This column has links for adding individual students or adding new classes. They can also edit or delete a class or student record as needed. They can even view and print class rosters. Also found in the Learning Management Center is the Assignment Management section. From here teachers can enter our assessment system, from which they can create and administer tests to the students and classes they have created. Teachers can even run reports on student and class performance.
Navigating the Online Editions When is a book not a book? When it is an online edition. Our online programs contain the same, full student edition that you would find in print, but also a host of additional resources described below. Navigating the Online Editions When you first click into the book, you will see a screen like the one on the left. 1. Back will take you to the previous page and Next will take you to the next page. 2. Explore will take you to additional enrichment activities. 3. My eproducts will take you back to the My Subscriptions homepage. 4. When you click on a Unit title, the contents within that unit will appear, such as Start with a Story and unit chapters. Interactive Online Editions include features such as the Start with a Video DVD, which include features at the beginning of every unit, Interactive Visuals, point-of-use audio, a multimedia glossary, and an atlas. Additional intervention assistance is available with the enhanced online version, which uses Live Ink to assist student reading and comprehension of the text in grades 3 6. Live Ink (grades 3 6) is an online technology enhancement that increases students comprehension, helping them to remember more about what they read and to improve their test scores.
Navigating the Online Editions Harcourt Leveled Readers Online Database (grades K 5) is an online collection with more than 1,000 titles that span all curriculum areas. Users can view readers online, listen to readers online, print readers to read offline, and email readers to students and parents. Teachers can search the database by subject area, reading level, reading skill, text feature, genre, category, theme, keyword, and author. Many titles are available in English and Spanish and vocabulary words are highlighted at point-of- use. Electronic Interactive Presentations (EIPs) (grades K-5) offer a highly engaging, animated overview of material covered in the corresponding Student Edition for Harcourt Social Studies, but the presentations can be adapted for any basal student text. These unique digital learning resources can be used by students individually or in group learning context led by teachers. Each EIP includes almost 800 interactive topics across six grades from K-5 plus a teacher resource center. Harcourt School Publishers Online Assessment (HSPOA) (grades 1 5) is an easy-to -use Internet-based tool for administering Harcourt Social Studies assessments. Teachers can customize tests by standards, question type, or content. Students can take tests on the computer and receive immediate results and feedback. Prescriptive reports guide teachers to Harcourt Social Studies materials to help students achieve academic improvement. Administrators can also create reports of Adequate Yearly Progress. Test items come from the Harcourt Social Studies Assessment Program.
