Cisco/Linksys SPA Phone Base Setup for MegaPath Duet Hosted Voice Service
Summary This document details the steps to obtain the basic phone setup necessary for provisioning your Linksys or Cisco SPA phone to the MegaPath network. Once these steps are completed, the phones will be ready to use with the Duet Hosted service. Minimum Requirements: The EdgeMarc router and Ethernet switch need to be installed and configured. MegaPath will install and configure the EdgeMarc for all Duet Hosted customers. MegaPath will also install and configure the Ethernet switch if MegaPath provided. If the Ethernet switch is customer provided, the customer is be responsible for the installation and configuration of the switch. The MAC Address (MAC ID) and phone number for each of the phones will need to be provided to MegaPath. The MAC Address is located on a sticker on the bottom of each phone. MegaPath will use the MAC Address and phone number for each phone to provision it to the MegaPath server. IP address of the phone. DHCP is enabled on the EdgeMarc allowing the SIP Phones and PCs to automatically have an IP address assigned to them. The phone IP address can be manually looked up by depressing the "Menu" button on the phone, then scrolling down to "Network", and then depressing the "Select" soft key button. IP connectivity to the SIP phone. Once the router and switch are installed, a local machine on the customer s network is used to pull the setup for the SIP phones. Phone Setup There are two methods for setting up your Cisco or Linksys SPA phones outlined in this document. For example: If you have a Linksys SPA 942, with an IP address of 192.168.1.100, enter the following in your browser: http://192.168.1.100/admin/resync?http://xs.voice.dsl.net/dms/linksys_spa942/$ma.xml Resync the Phone Once you have entered the information for the specific phone, cut and paste the completed URL into the browser of the local machine, and hit enter. This step will resync the phone. Reboot the Phone You will be directed to a webpage that will display messaging about the SPA phone will resync once the phone is rebooted, and then direct you to enter a URL to reboot the phone so that it can be synched to the MegaPath Duet Hosted service. Manually enter the IP address of the phone where indicated (see below). Option 2: HTTP into the Phone Linksys SPA Phones Step 1 Enter the IP address of the phone into your web browser. For example purposes we will use the IP address: 192.168.20.12. http://192.168.20.12 Note: If the phone prompts for a "login", enter your current login information. If you do not know the login information, you may need to factory default your phone. Step 2 From the default page select "Admin Login" which is located at the top right hand corner of the web page. Step 5 Enter the following into the Profile Rule Field (see arrow below) using the following format: http://xs.voice.dsl.net/dms/device/$ma.xml In this example, for a Linksys SPA 942 you would enter: http://xs.voice.dsl.net/dms/linksys_spa942/$ma.xml 2010 MegaPath Inc. Cisco SPA Phones Step 1 Enter the IP address of the phone into your web browser.
