isingpop School Information Pack ABOUT US isingpop is a brilliant primary school singing project that brings together school, church and community by using the entire school to produce its very own pop CD. It takes 4 days to learn and record the songs, then a week later the children perform them at a big concert held at the local church. The entire community comes along to celebrate the achievements of the children and there is an opportunity for people to purchase a copy of the CD. isingpop is part of Innervation Trust, a Christian organization with charitable status, with over 10 years experience working with children and young people across the UK. isingpop Tutors All our tutors are experienced at working with children. They will give the children a structured and engaging experience during which they will learn singing technique, performance skills and dance routines whilst picking up lyrics and actions of the songs they will perform in their community concert. isingpop Music The music used for isingpop projects has been specially designed for primary schools with catchy, energetic songs that children love singing. All the music has been made by award winning musicians and is exclusive to isingpop. The lyrics of the songs are written from a Christian perspective and are full of positive content, a great antidote to some of the pop lyrics children hear in the charts. We understand the powerful influence of music and media over young people today and aim to leave them singing songs that will help them grow in friendship, hope, peace, compassion, and also help them to understand Christian values. The isingpop experience will include: 3 days of tutor led music teaching in your school where pupils learn a set of high

energy, fun filled and current sounding pop songs. An exciting recording session with a sound engineer and mobile recording system. Dress rehearsal in the performance venue the afternoon of the concert (usually a week later) A concert involving every member of the school, ie Foundation Stage, KS1 and KS2. The provision of a full PA and all equipment necessary for the concert. The chance for each family member to join the children at the community concert, usually in a local church The opportunity to purchase a copy of your own school CD A partnership between church and the school. All this will be delivered by our experienced team and will work as much as possible within your existing timetable. ENDORSEMENTS I have been a Senior LEA Advisor for a number of years.this is one of the best primary school projects I ve ever seen why? because the whole school uses excellent music to inspire and model responsible citizenship, it creates a community event where people meet together, relationships are formed and the community becomes a better place. Phil Gadsby Senior Improvement Advisor, children and young peoples directorate, Stockport Borough Council "In all my years of teaching, this was the most inspirational project I've ever invited into the school." Chris Wroe Deputy Head, Westcott Primary School, Kingston Upon Hull "The concert was full to the brim with 300 kids and the 500 seater hall packed standing room all taken, it was huge fun, the kids were so excited and happy, the parents loved it! The teachers loved it! The whole community loved it! The CD's all went in minutes!" Report from Bootle School "The Christian message was painted in a very positive light, accessible to all and free of the media stereotype of dullness and irrelevance. This project paints the picture of enjoyment, partnership, fun and relevance for life." Colin Tapscott Headteacher Gusford Primary School I just want to say how fantastic the concert was this afternoon! The children were fabulous and it was such a great atmosphere to make any parent proud! I've never been to a concert like this, i have two children at the school and they sung the songs again in the car on the way home to the CD, we're still buzzing from it. Lyndsey Roberts, Parent, Westhoughton Primary, Bolton isingpop CAN HELP YOUR SCHOOL: Promote children s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development/understanding.

Promote cross curricula interaction and creativity across the Performing Arts, PHSE, Citizenship and Religious Education. Inspire children and teachers to explore possible uses for music and the performing arts in learning. Develop relationships between schools, community groups, churches and other faith groups. Bring together schools with different pupil profiles, social and ethnic backgrounds to learn from and support each other. Promote intergenerational relations encouraging older people from the community to invest in the life of the school. Raise the profile of the school within the community demonstrating its ethos and core values and building mutual respect. (DfE publication Community Cohesion and PREVENT for schools Ref DFE RB087 Feb 2011) isingpop projects adhere to the following standards of ethics: (a) Inclusion, equality and common ground Every child whatever their background, ethnicity, culture or religion will be fully involved in each project. (b) Respect for all regardless of gender, race, ethnic origin, religion, sexual orientation, age and physical or mental ability Songs and lyrical content used in the project will teach pupils the importance of valuing all people and ourselves. (c) Mutual commitment, responsibility and obligation to serve one another Each project is designed to enable all participants to work together to support each other and the wider community. (d) Community participation and harmony Each project seeks to unite communities by celebrating goodness and life affirming values. At the same time the project seeks to challenge and remove any obstacles to unity and understanding. HOW IT WORKS Teaching days

This is our example timetable but we are flexible on exact timings. These can be arranged in consultation with your isingpop tutor. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 9.10 10.40 Years 5+6 11.00 11:45 Years 1+2 (and Reception) LUNCH BREAK 1.30 3:00 Years 3+4 Recording day On the fourth day of the project an isingpop sound engineer with mobile recording equipment will arrive and work with the tutor and children to record their vocals for the school album. This will then be mixed and mastered back at the studio to create your own school album. 9.05 10.30 Recording Year 5+6 10.30 11:45 Recording Years 3+4 LUNCH BREAK 1.15 2.00 Recording KS 1 Bring back any year group for re takes Concert day The isingpop project culminates in a community concert usually held in a partner church, also involved in part funding the project. This is a great opportunity for the school to link with the local community and for parents and friends to celebrate and enjoy the children s performance and achievements. The performance is usually about an hour long and there is an opportunity for families to purchase their very own isingpop school album at the end of the show. Church Partnership isingpop projects are usually a partnership between a school and a local church with each party sharing the funding of the project and with the church providing a venue for the community concert. Churches provide a great venue for the concert and are often keen to support their local primary school. If your school does not have an obvious partner church please contact your isingpop regional manager for advice and help in finding a partner church. COSTS We always encourage schools and churches to make this a joint project wherever possible. The costs of an isingpop project therefore are shared between the school and the church.

This encourages greater integration and participation. The usual cost for a 5 day project is School 600 Church/Community 600 Plus travel which we will minimize as much as possible. PROJECT RESOURCES Teachers can download logos, concert poster, colouring posters and tickets from our website: www.isingpop.com ONGOING RESOURCES Along with the isingpop backing tracks, schools will have access to a range of other music for use in assemblies and other special occasions.
