The City of Baltimore Small Business Resource Center is gearing up for its Local Contractor Development Program (LCDP) and will offer its 2012 Contractor s College beginning October 3 rd, 2012 through December 5 th, 2012. The Contractor s College is a ten (10) week contractor workshop series being held on Wednesday evenings from 6pm 8pm. Specific classes will include presentations in the following areas (minimal fee required): Project Owner/Developer Perspective The Role of an Architect Construction Contracts/Construction Law Safety on the Jobsite Surety/Insurance Requirements for Contracts Construction Accounting Principles Estimating & Bidding Construction Scheduling Project Management RFP Readiness Clinic(s) Certifications/Contract Pre-Qualification The Contractor s College is a great learning experience for small, minority and women owned contractors seeking to better understand the contracting process, gain new skills and help build capacity for their companies. Many MBE/WBE companies have participated in the Contractor s College in the past and benefited tremendously. The City of Baltimore Small Business Resource Center and LCDP is partnered with the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) and the Baltimore City Department of Transportation (DOT) to support the participation of minority and women-owned businesses in all City construction projects with an emphasis on projects developed by DPW. Millions of dollars of contracting opportunities are available for local contractors looking to grow their business. A turnaround in the City has begun and change is ahead.
