Project Information Title: Project Number: Project Type: Year: 2011 Status: Country: Marketing Text: Competences Framework for European Project Manager 2011-1-PL1-LEO05-19892 Transfer of Innovation completed PL-Poland ComPM recognizes the need to enhance efficiency in EU funds management by improving the quality of education of managers of EU projects and upgrading their key competences. Summary: Recognition of needs of target groups was based on long lasting and deeply rooted into practice experience of the project partners and their network of cooperation. EC puts great impact on better efficiency in EU funds management and creation of homogenous structure for the majority of projects. It underlines the necessity of improving the level of professionalism in project management. The compm project was based on the results of the ASTRA project and EPMT project implemented under the LdV. The compm project was focused on adaptation, adjustment and implementation of the competence assessment tool developed in the ASTRA project and pedagogical materials used in trainings of EU project managers developed in the EPMT project. Direct link between managerial competence assessment and a training plan tailored up to the needs of the tested individual were the main innovative asset of the ASTRA project that has been transferred. The elaborated competence assessment tool enables to recognize and measure key managerial competences of project managers. The results of training need assessment allow to define and implement training plan. The application of innovative compm tool helps project managers to have better view on their competences in relation to EU project management. Training plans help them to make right choices on training vital for their successful performance on the market. The project products support trainers in EU project management and provide them with new tools/materials. It should result in improvement of EU fund management. The application of the project products leads to more effective EU funded projects, progress and compliance with EU standards. The project partnership consisted of 5 organizations coming from 5 EU countries. Description: The project partners defined the competence profile of EU project manager distingushing the competencies typical for managers of soft, investment, research and international projects. It was the basis to develop the project products by execution of the following tasks: - Formulation of the training curriculum for project managers based on competencies and unification of educational standards in all countries participating in the ComPM project; - Adaptation of the ICT tool to measure the competencies of EU project managers to partner s national realities; - Testing of the ComPM tool to define individual needs of project managers; - Development of the training materials adapted to the elaborated training curriculumm and the competence profile; - Testing of the developed training materials in all participating countries and their modification. The elaborated training curriculum supports the unification of educational standards in project management education, improving its quality. Product 'Training materials for trainer and trainee' Title: Training materials for trainer and trainee Product Type: teaching material Marketing Text: The ComPM Training Guide is set-up in a modular way and consists of six modules defined in the training curriculum. Description: Training materials for each module consist of the following materials: 1) handbook for trainee, 2) workbook for trainee, 3) trainers manual. The project managers, the trainees, can use the Handbook and the Workbook. For the trainers the Trainers Manual was created and they can use the handbook as backbone. The Handbook contains theoretical information on each topic. It is not the intention to go through this handbook and use this theoretical material as lecture material. It is merely a backbone for the Training Guide. The Handbook can be used by both trainee and trainer as research material or if they wish to know more on a certain topic. The Workbook is the exercise book for the participants. It contains templates for all proposed exercises and some space for personal notes. The Trainers Manual contains all exercises, an introduction to those exercises (aims, objectives, approach) plus some feedback possibilities, some tips. The Trainers Manual also contains links on where to find more information on certain topics in the Handbook and practical information on timing, material,in the fact sheet per module. The created Training Guide provides a complete package for both trainees as well as trainers. It is the training guide which together with the ICT tool for competence assessment, training curriculum and training materials, create the complex approach to develop and improve the competencies needed for successul project management. It describes the elaborated training materials which help to implement this training model and its delivery way. Description: Training model 80:20 describes the main features of the training approach characterized by 80 % of practice and 20% of theory. It is the training guide which together with the ICT tool for competence assessment, training curriculum and training materials, create the complex approach to develop and improve the competencies needed for successul project management. It describes the elaborated training materials which help to implement this training model and its delivery way. Target group: - trainers/consulants - training organisations Result: Training model 80:20 Area of application: It is a training guideline to conduct effective trainings/lectures for up-grading the competencies of the EU project managers. A practically-oriented training appears to be necessary when addressing a target of experienced participants, willing to develop their professional skills and ready to focus on knowledge only if it can be translated into practical expertise. From this point of view, the 80:20 approach helps participants in solving working problems and probably enhances their willingness to be involved in training.
