This course introduces students to concepts of Epidemiology in terms of its definition, uses, scope, and distribution of morbidity and mortality according to person, place, and time. The course will also cover measurements of morbidity and mortality, epidemic investigation, surveillance of diseases and principles of epidemiological studies. This course introduces students to the concept of external environment, factors affecting it ( including, chemical, radiation, different gases) and the impact of exposure on human health. Health administration ( 3 credit hours) course number (0505703) This course introduces students to management of organizations that deliver health services. It develops an understanding of the management process within the context of the changing types, functions and scope of work of health services organizations. It presents the health services organizations management framework, describes the health services environment, addresses the design and structuring of health services organizations and introduces strategic planning and inter organizational linkages for health services organizations. Students are also exposed to quality improvement and problem solving concepts and to human resources management. Research methods ( 3 credit hours) course number (0505704). This course introduces students to stages of investigation of health and health related problems. Emphasis will be given to writing sound hypotheses and objectives, methodology, data collection and analysis, and report writing. Students will apply all previous themes in the field. Primary Health Care (PHC) (3 credit hours) course number (0505705). This course introduces students to the concept of PHC and conference of Alma-Ata. It also introduces the levels of PHC, determinants, characteristics and services provided. Environment, health, and Population ( 3 credit hours ) course number (0505706) This course consists of introducing students to demography and indicators used to calculate population characteristics ( size, density. Distribution, population pyramid) It also presents demographic indicators affecting population change with local and International comparisons. The course also outlines the relation between the external environment and human health.

Biostatistics :( 3 credit hours) course number (0301737) Organization and summarization of data, sampling methods and sampling distributions, statistical inference (binomial, Poisson, normal χ2, t and f ), sampling methods and distributions estimation and hypotheses about means, proportions and variances based on large and small samples, analysis of variance ( one- way, two- way, factorial designs, Latin square) regression analysis (simple and multiple), Chi-square tests, nonparametric methods and correlation coefficient. Epidemiology of communicable diseases (3 credit hours) course number (0505708). This course introduces students to common diseases in Jordan as compared to other countries. These diseases will be discussed in terms of causal agents, frequency and distribution, incubation period (IP), reservoir, mode of transmission, control measures and interventions, and Epidemiological investigation.. Epidemiology of non-communicable diseases (3 credit hours) course number (0505709). This course introduces students to some common chronic diseases in terms of definition of the disease, risk factors, distribution and magnitude of the problem, time trend, prevention, interventions and epidemiological investigation. Emphasis will be given to common diseases in Jordan such as hypertension,diabetes, and cancer. Planning and evaluation of health programs (3 credit hours) course number (0505710). This course introduces students to definition of evaluation, and planning, purposes and steps of planning and evaluation, and types of evaluation. Students will be also exposed to how to analyze the evaluation methods, identify barriers and limitations, establish strategies for interpretation and action guidelines. Water and Air pollution and its impact on health ( 3 credit hours) course number (0505711). This course deals with topics sources and types of water pollution, its health impact and pollution control methods used locally and worldwide. The course also introduces students to air pollution, its source and relation to diseases. Occupational health ( 3 credit hours) course number (0505712). This course introduces students to occupational diseases, and methods of reducing occupational injuries. The course also includes a study of air, water and soil measurements, methods of application analyses of results, internationally acceptable and allowable levels and the impact on human health.

Child health (3 credit hours) course number (0505713). This course introduces students to child health issues, on global as well as regional and national levels. It presents child health related international treaties. It discusses child health indicators and major services provided to children in different age groups. Women s health ( 3 credit hours) course number ( 0703723) This course deals with the concept of health as a human right It also includes analytical discussion of the most important needs and health issues related to a woman in all her life stages within the social and economic context. The course also offers a study of the health system and development plans from the point of available services to women.
