Energy targets In 2009/10 the University s carbon footprint was 80,615t CO 2 and the total energy bill was 10.6 million. University of Oxford energy targets: Reduce CO 2 by 11% by 2015/16 (2005/6 baseline) Reduce CO 2 by 33% by 2020/21 (2005/6 baseline)
Electricity Bills There are 3 types of electricity bill that departments will see Monthly/Quarterly - Non Half Hourly metered from our supplier Monthly - Half Hourly metered from our supplier OUED Split bill
Electricity Bills (Monthly/Quarterly) Use on Oracle Details on next slide Received by buildings which are small and not on a university distribution network 13 digit MPAN (Meter point number) 21 digit full MPAN gives more information and is unique to supply point A supply point can be thought of as the physical point at which a service enters the building and stays the same regardless of changes in meters or suppliers
Electricity Bills (Monthly/Quarterly) Now for a more detailed look at consumption and cost Take note of dates the bill is for Check Address Meter serial number (kwh) (kwh) Use in kwh x = x = Applies if VAT is at 20% Added to cover admin and metering costs Total to pay
Electricity Bills (Half Hourly) Half Hourly bills are supplied to large sites with a maximum demand of over 100kVA These site have meters owned by the suppliers that record consumption every half an hour
Electricity Bills (Half Hourly) Take note of dates the bill is for Maximum demand /kva/yr kwh Energy Costs 164782.1 Transmission Charges Est Triad demand 1264kVA x p/kva/mnth Std loss adjustment rate 8.189% 7.3%
Electricity Bills (Half Hourly) Distribution charges 164782 9.5% 41.9% 48.6% kva x 28 = p adds 97% p adds 15% p adds 2.5% p/day To day rate Published charges Or 3.19% to night rate for Green unit rates Red Unit Amber Unit Green Unit 16:30 to 19:00 Mon-Fri inc Bank holidays 09:00 to 16:30 and 19:00 to 20:30 Mon-Fri inc Bank holidays 00:00 to 09:00 and 20:30 to 24:00 Mon-Fri & 00:00 to 24:00 Sat and Sun Also there is a reactive power charge of 0.251p/kVArh if your power factor is less than 0.95
Electricity Bills (OUED Split) We have tried to keep our split invoices as simple as possible. These are always derived from half hourly bills Embedded in the kwh cost are all the charges shown on the previous two slides
Gas Bills There are 2 types of gas bill that departments will see Supplier bill OUED Split bill
Gas Bills (Supplier bill) Gazprom contact details SiteRefNum Account No Due Date Invoice No Gazprom Ref Ref for OxUni accounts Note 21 days to pay Quote on Oracle
Gas Bills (Supplier bill) Check address Made up of Transmission Distribution and Metering costs 25 days @ 1.90/day variable with site. All meters totalled here
Gas Bills (Supplier bill) Difference Meter point reference A=actual E=estimated C=customer read Con in m3 or 100ft3 check on meter 2.018 = Gas price = 1.937p/kWh + admin costs
Gas Bills (OUED Split) We have tried to keep our split invoices as simple as possible.

Water Bills There are 2 types of water bill that departments will see Supplier water and wastewater bill Supplier water and wastewater and trade effluent bill
Water Bills (Supplier water and wastewater bill) When entering on Oracle, quote a/c number & date because there is no bill invoice number Building number Year the meter was made i.e. 2000
Water Bills (Supplier water and wastewater and effluent bill) Trade effluent consent No. Consent held by Estates
Water Bills (Supplier water and wastewater and effluent bill) Use to check fixed charges 2% 98% From meter readings Water Fixed charge There are two water meters for this building one 80mm in diameter and the other 50mm diameter 80mm meter standing charge 936 x (175/365) = 448.77 50mm meter standing charge 416 x (175/365) = 199.44 648.21 Wastewater Fixed charge There are two water meters for this building one 80mm in diameter and the other 50mm diameter 80mm meter standing charge 1656 x (175/365) = 793.98 50mm meter standing charge 736 x (175/365) = 352.88 1146.86
Water Bills (Supplier water and wastewater and effluent bill) Determined by Thames water It will say if this number is an estimate
Water Bills (Supplier water and wastewater and effluent bill) Implies water is clean and less treatment required
