Introduction This guide describes how to download and install the Primavera Unifier File Transfer Utility. In This Section About the Primavera Unifier File Transfer Utility... 7 About the Primavera Unifier File Transfer Utility The Primavera Unifier File Transfer Utility is used with the Oracle Java SE Runtime Environment (Java) for transferring files between your local file system and Primavera Unifier. Examples of file transfers include attaching files to business process forms, cost sheets, funding sheets, schedule sheets, and umail messages; and uploading and downloading files to and from Primavera Unifier s Document Manager, which manages project documents for access and collaboration by project team members. Primavera Unifier users can choose between three methods of transferring files. The File Transfer option you choose determines how documents, spreadsheets, drawings and other files are transferred between your local machine and Primavera Unifier. The File Transfer options are: Basic: HTML-based, does not require the installation of special software Intermediate: requires installation of Java Advanced: requires installation of Java and the Primavera Unifier File Transfer Utility With the Advanced option, the Primavera Unifier File Transfer Utility works in conjunction with Java to provide the greatest flexibility for uploading and downloading documents and folders. It supports drag-and-drop uploading/downloading of multiple files and folders. Its advanced functionality for managing reference file relationships in DWG and DGN drawing files makes it easier for users to locate, upload, revise and download reference files. If you are using the Space Manager, the Advanced option must be used for uploading drawing files into the Space Manager. The File Transfer option is selected in the Options tab of the User Preferences window. The Advanced option is the default File Transfer selection for new users. 7
Unifier File Transfer Utility Instructions Installation Instructions These instructions are for new and existing Primavera Unifier users who are installing or updating Primavera Unifier File Transfer Utility. If you have a previous release already installed on your system, the installation of a newer release will automatically override the previous version. It is not necessary to uninstall previous versions to upgrade. Note: The Primavera Unifier File Transfer Utility and Java are installed locally and run as client-side applications on your local system. If you access Primavera Unifier from a different computer where you have not installed these applications, and attempt to upload, download or attach files, you will be presented with a screen suggesting installation of Java. A special copy of JRE is installed automatically together with the file transfer utility.to use this utility, you must install the Primavera Unifier File Transfer Utility on each computer you access. Alternatively, if you do not wish to install Java on other computers, you can switch your File Transfer Option (in User Preferences) to "Basic" to use the HTML-based method which does not require the utility installed separately. Step 1: Download and Install Java This step is necessary only if you do not already have Java installed on your machine. The Primavera Unifier File Transfer Utility works with the Oracle Java Virtual Machine (formerly Sun JRE, or JRE applet) on your local machine. Check to see if you already have this plug-in installed. It is not necessary to upgrade to the latest version; the Primavera Unifier File Transfer Utility contains necessary components from a supported Java version within the installation file, but you must have some version of Java installed. Note: Java is also necessary on your local machine in order to view Gantt charts in the Primavera Unifier Schedule Manager (Basic), and also to do graphic markups on documents using the AutoVue viewer. See the Primavera Unifier User Guide or online help for more information. 8
