Global Learning & Development CCNA Curriculum Overview CCNA Description This certification lays the foundation for all other Cisco certifications. The Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) designation indicates apprentice knowledge of networking. The Cisco Certified Network Associate knows how to install, configure, and operate simple (100 nodes or fewer) routed LAN, WAN, and dial access services, as well as switched LANs. They also need to be able to optimize WAN traffic through Internet access solutions that reduce bandwidth and reduce WAN costs using features such as: Filtering with Access Lists, Bandwidth on Demand (BOD), and Dial on demand routing (DDR). The protocols and concepts included in this understanding are IPv4, IPv6, ICMP, AppleTalk, RIP, IGRP, EIGRP, OSPF, Serial, ISDN, PPP, HDLC, Frame Relay, VLANs, VTP, Ethernet, CIDR, VLSM, NAT, and Access Control Lists. Although there are no prerequisites to test for the CCNA certification, to remain competitive and succeed as you pursue your career, proper training is ESSENTIAL for extending your knowledge and strengthening your professional options. GLD Recommended Training The GLD CCNA training path is made up of 15 courses and 27 vlabs. Courses are available in both an instructor-led LiveWeb format and web video replays. To attend LiveWeb, Instructor-led sessions, you must register for each course individually. Web video replays are available on demand, 24x7. Search MTMS.mcilink.com using the LiveWeb Course s to view the current LiveWeb schedule or view/launch a course replay 24x7. Course Materials Course materials can be found on PubWeb. To print/save course material: 1) Go to http://pubweb.mcilink.com/ 2) Type the Doc ID number in the search box and click Submit. 3) Click on the "Doc.ID" hyperlink to open the document. 4) Print by clicking on the printer icon directly above the document; do not use your browser print button. vlabs To access the vlabs, you must complete a one-time registration process which allows access to all vlab exercises. 1) Go to http://mtms.mcilink.com/ 2) Type the course code TIVLAB1000 in the Search Catalog box and click Go. 3) Select "Lending Library" under "Actions", then "Request." 4) You will receive a confirmation email and then login instructions in 1 3 business days. 1
