Leading-Edge Research at Research at TU Darmstadt Research Profile of TU Darmstadt Strict selection criteria, competition, and constant assessments guarantee high research standards. A convincing proof of TU Darmstadt s commitment is the high ranking in the federal and state initiatives aimed at expanding leading-edge research. Interdisciplinary fields of expertise such as Smart Interfaces: Understanding and Designing Fluid Boundaries excellence cluster and the Graduate School of Computational Beyond Traditional Sciences form particular strengths. The federally funded Excellence Cluster entitled Formation of Normative Polities is a further example of cutting edge research in collaboration with the Goethe University, Frankfurt. TU Darmstadt was ranked No. 1 by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation for visiting researchers in the fields of engineering based on the number of research stays of fellows receiving support from the foundation as well as prize winners from German research institutions. Darmstadt is the birthplace of numerous things that have changed our daily lives. Due to the large number of international companies based in Darmstadt and its numerous institutions of research, Darmstadt prides a very international community.
