Using Web Apps for your Attendance and Event Management Abe Cereno Associate Director Catcard and Systems Application University of California, Merced
Native app versus mobile web app? A native app is one that is installed directly onto the smart phone or device and can work, in most cases, with no internet connectivity depending on the nature of the app. The app needs to be downloaded. High maintenance. A web app works via web browser on the smart devices but requires either a cell signal or wi-fi to function. It has the fortune of being used on multi-platform and devices as long as the web app is written for cross-browser compatibility and scalability. No app download required. Low maintenance.
