Depending on the application, we will work with you to plan the best possible infrastructure to support your processes. Our certified products conform to all international standards. With FieldConnex, fieldbus solutions are incredibly straightforward to operate. The intrinsically safe components allow field devices to be exchanged rapidly even during operation. To satisfy the need for long cable runs in process plants, Pepperl+Fuchs developed the capitalization concept. The trunk transfers the full power supplied to the field via a protected cable. In the vicinity of the field devices, the power is limited intrinsically safe at the junction box retaining all of the benefits of intrinsic safety while enabling high device counts per segment and long cable runs. DART and the Intrinsically Safe High-Power Trunk The DART fieldbus (Dynamic Arc Recognition and Termination) is a Pepperl+Fuchs innovation. It is approved and certified in line with current standards for intrinsic safety, and offers high perfor mance while maintaining the energy limits of intrinsic safety. The trunk, which is now also intrinsically safe, can be installed using the same simple technology as the spurs, making installation significantly easier. Intrinsic safety can easily be verified without performing calculations. 9

Installation in the Control Technology Room Power Supply and Segment Coupler What Are the Characteristics of th It Comes Compl Space-saving, reliable, and per - manently fault-free: The in stallation in the control cabinet is at the center of the process plant. FieldConnex Power Hubs provide the ideal solution whatever your requirements and all have an exceptionally high packing density and an exceptionally long service life. The cabinet: Delivered as a ready-to-install total solution with all devices (shown here with the four-channel SK3), approved, and tested as a unit. 10

Once everything is installed, we conduct an FAT in your presence. After installation, our technical support team is at your side at any time. Segment Coupler 3 as a Power Hub The PROFIBUS Power Hub (SK3) has a modular design and is able to fully decouple the communication speed of the PROFIBUS DP and PA protocols. Suitable modules and motherboards can be selected for any application. Depending on your requirements, a range of different versions are available, including options for redundancy and modules with different output voltages. The available options are: Two channels or four channels Simplex or redundant Intrinsically safe High-Power Trunk with DART The compact SK 3 the economical solution for small plants. High Performance: Power Supply with Transparent Coupling FieldConnex Segment Couplers have two functions: They supply power to the PROFIBUS PA segments, and as the only one of its kind, transparently couples PROFIBUS DP and PROFIBUS PA. Further details are available on the next page. Segment Coupler 1 all-in-one solution, can optionally be selected to be intrinsically safe, also in accordance with FISCO. 11

Integration into Control Technology Power Supply and Segment Coupler What Makes Control System Inte Transparent Coupling The transparency of FieldConnex Segment Couplers makes it easy to integrate PROFIBUS systems: All field device data is displayed in the same consistent way in the control technology. Segment Coupler 3 with redundancy of coupling and power supply for four segments the solution for the most demanding requirements. Speed and communication are decoupled to ensure that PROFIBUS DP and PROFIBUS PA operate with maximum performance. Suitable for simplex and redundant control systems. High-Performance Technology for Perfect Data Transfer The key advantage of transparency is that PROFIBUS PA nodes seem to be PROFIBUS DP nodes. The transparent coupling between PROFIBUS DP and PROFIBUS PA allows control technology, engineering, and maintenance systems to access field devices directly and without any technical effort. The benefit of this is that each work step, from engineering to configuration through to process control, is carried out with the native tools of the control system. This applies to cyclic and acyclic communication, such as: Integration of field devices in control system Access to device information such as self-monitoring for remote diagnostics, etc. Setting and parameterizing devices via remote access Optimal use of the fieldbus components and infrastructure when using multivariable devices 12

gration Fast and Safe? Suitable for All Control Systems. SK3 with DART provides maximum safety: with intrinsic safety across the entire segment, high output power as well as power supply and gateway redundancy. Zero-Configuration, Fast, Powerful: Maximum Performance with SK3 Designed specifically for integration into control system, the FieldConnex SK3 provides advantages above and beyond homogeneous data transfer. The SK3 requires no configuration and therefore virtually no engineering. Each PA segment has its own PA master, working in parallel with its counterparts and as a result PROFIBUS systems with Field- Connex SK3 are four times faster than conventional fieldbus systems. The SK3 is also available with redundancy. Equipped with the Advanced Diagnostic Module, the SK3 enables users to perform full diagnostics on the entire physical layer. The SK3 has exceptionally low power dissipation and requires little space per channel. This means a high segment count per cabinet saving space and reducing energy costs. 13

Intelligent Fieldbus How Does a Technology Achieve 14

New Levels of Availability? By Thinking Ahead. 100% availability this is the objective of each and every development of FieldConnex fieldbus technology. The new generation of diagnostics-enabled FieldConnex components guaran tees a seamless, transparent fieldbus infrastructure that is capable of detecting and remedying a wide range of additional and rare faults. These components make it possible for the first time ever to install a fieldbus infrastructure with monitoring and protection at each output in the field. This technology brings your process plant closer to the ideal of 100% availability than any other. Zero Tolerance: Seamless Fault Monitoring Detect faults. Avoid faults. Isolate faults. This is the only reliable way to keep processes running continuously. The new, diagnostic-enabled FieldConnex components monitor the entire fieldbus physical layer and are directly installed in the field. Faults are immediately reported to the control room or plant asset management, allowing you to clear them efficiently and reliably before they can impede process communication. Intelligent Installation without Configuration The diagnostic software helps to integrate all functions into the control system. The field components do not need a control address or configuration, and the modules and infrastructure also configure themselves. This makes the planning process much simpler, and the new components start protecting the system as soon as they are configured making it easy and cost-effective to monitor the entire fieldbus infrastructure. This innovative technology provides, for the first time, maximum protection at all critical points in the infrastructure enabling plant operators to achieve unprecedented levels of availability. 15

Installation Monitoring in the Field Distribution and Field How Do We Tackle the Challenges of With Intellige The interface between the control system and the field devices is the key to reliable operation and high productivity. FieldConnex device couplers, FieldBarriers, and Segment Protectors offer a range of innovative features and the best possible protection for each individual fieldbus segment. The functionalities of both device couplers are identical, but each component is tailored to the requirements of Zone 0 or 1/Div. 1 or Zone 2/Div. 2 respectively. Automatic Early Detection for Higher Availability Faults in process communication can lead to prolonged downtime, and the resulting shutdown of production usually comes at a high cost. These issues can be caused by faults in the fieldbus installation, such as insufficient insulation between conductors, loose contacts, changes to the load characteristics due to water ingress, or maintenance work during operation. FieldConnex device couplers use intelligent diagnostics to quickly detect faulty de vices and protect segment communication by switching off the affected devices. A Pioneer in Explosion Protection FieldConnex FieldBarriers were the first device couplers on the market with galvanic isolation, which allowed explosion protection to be easily implemented in the field. The intrinsically safe outputs of the FieldBarrier are designed for Zone 0/Div. 1 devices and are equipped with short-circuit protection, which allows the segment to continue running in the event of a fault. Segment Protectors and FieldBarriers can provide any type of explosion protection that may be necessary in hazardous areas primarily intrinsically safe connections for field devices in accordance with FISCO or Entity. 16

Installation Monitoring in the Field? nt Components and Intrinsic Safety. Efficient design: The FieldBarrier in its housing ready for connection without any additional accessories. Intelligence Inside: The New 12-Channel FieldBarrier The new 12-channel FieldBarrier represents an advanced level of technology that sets new standards in reliability: The development of this new technology focused on achieving the greatest level of availability for each individual segment. As a result, the FieldBarrier boasts innovative, state-of-theart features that provide maximum protection against segment failure. Intelligent load management: Sequential activation of the outputs on start-up and load shedding in the event of overload helps to prevent excessive load current. Unique: Physical layer diagnostics on the spur provides maximum protection for each individual fieldbus segment. High packing density and 50% less space needed for installation. 17

Installation Monitoring in the Field Distribution and Field Improved Safety: Surge Protection with Diagnostics FieldConnex surge protectors reliably protect the fieldbus infrastructure from lightning and voltage spikes. As an option, they can also be equipped with an automatic self-monitoring function that records the strength of the current surge and reports the end of the useful life. Regular manual checks are no longer required. The easily interchangeable plug-in modules require no additional wiring and planning, saving time and reducing costs. These modules are also suitable for retrofitting. 18

The Segment Protector: Safe and Practical The Segment Protector shown in GRP enclosure, provides intelligent fault detection. But that s not all its mechanical design is well-thought-out and designed for simplicity. Via T-connectors on the trunk, users can interconnect as many Segment Protectors with preinstalled terminators as they wish. If necessary, the terminator is simply removed for another device coupler to be connected. This ensures proper termination in the field and makes the process very easy to control without any additional electronics. Used in conjunction with specific Power Hubs, the Segment Protector limits energy at its outputs for intrinsic safety (Ex ic) protection in Zone 2/Div. 2. In Any Size: Field Installation Made Easy The most compact version of the Segment Protector. The status LEDs are visible from the outside. For installation sites where space is particularly limited, Pepperl+Fuchs has developed the smallest junction box on the market. But in spite of these reduced dimensions, the Segment Protector still benefits from a full range of func tions. The new design means that the LEDs are visible externally, so all functions and faults can be easily and immediately recognized. Device connections from four to ten outputs can be freely selected so you get better performance in less space. An Effective Early Warning System: The Leakage Sensor For process plants, high humidity levels can be a major risk. Humidity can attenuate communication signals or cause a temporary short circuit. In the long term, moisture can cause corrosion on terminals or electronic components. The new FieldConnex leakage sensor offers reliable protection against moisture by registering moisture ingress and immediately reporting it to plant asset management via fieldbus, quickly detecting and eliminating threats to the process flow. This technology reduces the risk of failure due to moisture to almost zero another boost to availability. 19

Commissioning and Ongoing Operation Advanced Diagnostics How Do You Secure the Safety and With Ul When the highest possible level of safety is an essential requirement, you need to do more than just monitor and inspect your fieldbus infrastructure. FieldConnex Advanced Diagnostics provides diagnostics for the fieldbus physical layer for end-to-end transparency in your process starting with the installation stage. With intelligent features that detect risks as soon as they arise. Diagnostic manager software with embedded expert system condenses the raw data and translates it into human readable clear information for activity planning Reliable Diagnostics in Realtime When the plant is running, the fieldbus infrastructure is continuously and transparently monitored in the control room via the Advanced Diagnostic Module and Diagnostic Manager, down to the level of individual field devices. Communication data is displayed and interpreted for each device and segment. Potential faults are reported immediately and corrective action can be taken before plant operation is endangered. The time that the installation team spends in the field is kept to a minimum, and unnecessary visits due to missing or insufficient information are avoided. The advantage for you: maximum safety and maximum convenience. Seamless monitoring of all field devices Long-term planning of maintenance work without recurring routine checks High level of safety for personnel and plant Higher plant availability through proactive intervention 20
