applicationinformation The College of Saint Benedict and Saint John s University welcome your application for admission and scholarships. You may choose to use the CSB/SJU Get Inspired Application or the Common Application and may apply online or by hard copy. The application for admission is also used to evaluate students for academic scholarships. Please see the Additional Information section for details about CSB/SJU scholarships. Application Options apply online at www.inspiredapplication.com CSB/SJU Get Inspired Application Consider using the CSB/SJU Get Inspired Application if you are not applying to any of the more than 400 institutions who are members of the Common Application. The Get Inspired Application is the quickest and easiest way to apply. You may also apply online at www.inspiredapplication.com. Common Application If you are applying to one or more of the other Common Application member institutions, you might find it more efficient to use the Common Application to also apply to CSB/SJU. The list of participating institutions along with the online and downloadable application is available at www.commonapp.org. The Common Application is a not-for-profit organization that serves students and member institutions by providing an admission application online and in print that students may submit to any of the more than 400 members. Membership is limited to colleges and universities that evaluate students using a holistic selection process. More information is available at www.csbsju.edu/admission/finaid/scholarships. Art, Music and Theater Scholarships The art, music and theater scholarship applications can be downloaded at www.csbsju.edu/admission/fascholarships. The application deadline is January 5. Information for First-year Students December 15 Application deadline for Trustees Scholarships. January 5 Application deadline for Art, Music and Theater Scholarships. March 15 Recommended deadline to mail the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the CSB/SJU Financial Aid Application. These forms are required to apply for grants, student employment and loans. May 1 National response date. Admitted students have a place reserved in the incoming class until this date. Because of strong interest, CSB/SJU are unable to guarantee enrollment to students who deposit after May 1. Information for Transfer Students Admission Criteria Students are considered transfer applicants if they have completed any college coursework from a post-secondary institution after graduating from high school. Students who have credits earned through Post Secondary Enrollment Option should apply as high school senior applicants. To be considered for admission, a student must have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 in CORE transferable courses and meet a level of math proficiency consistent with the standards set by CSB/SJU. A student who has not yet completed 28 semester credits will be evaluated on both high school and college performance. Frequently Asked Questions Should I use the CSB/SJU Get Inspired Application or the Common Application? It s up to you. CSB/SJU give equal consideration to both applications. The Get Inspired Application is the quickest and easiest way to apply if you are not considering other Common Application member institutions. Should I apply online or use a hard copy? Whichever you prefer. Most students choose to apply online. Which teacher should complete my evaluation? It should be from a teacher from one of your core academic courses (English, math, science, or social science). You may submit more than one. Not all selective colleges require ACT/SAT scores. Why do CSB/SJU? We have found that standardized test scores, when used in conjunction with other requirements (academic achievement and teacher evaluations), do help us predict college success. When should I apply? Our Early Action deadline for first-year students is November 15. Students applying before that date will receive their admission and scholarship decisions by December 20. Applications received after January 15 are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. How does my application affect financial aid and scholarships? CSB/SJU academic scholarships are awarded based on the information you provide in your application so make sure to include all your activities and awards and put your best foot forward. Need-based awards are based on the results of your FAFSA. Find more information about financial aid and affordability at www.csbsju.edu/admission/thinkagain.htm. Information for International Students International students generally apply for admission in the same manner as U.S. students. However, international students must also submit additional information for admission and U.S. visa purposes. A student is typically considered an international student if he or she is not a U.S. citizen and requires a U.S. visa to enter the U.S. to study. Scholarships and oncampus work awards are available to many international students. Eligibility for the scholarships and work awards will be determined after all the items on the application checklist are completed and received, including the International Student Financial Aid Application.
