2016 ACC Annual Meeting Call for Programs Guidelines COMMITTEE Every year, ACC offers its committees a chance to submit program ideas for the Annual Meeting. Committees will be responsible for organizing and may participate in their selected session(s) at the ACC Annual Meeting in San Francisco, Oct. 16-19, 2016. 1

How to Submit Your Annual Meeting Proposals Preparing your submissions 1. Review the sample submission page and Annual Meeting program submissions spreadsheet provided to prepare your submissions. 2. Begin brainstorming program ideas by reviewing the memorandum provided by ACC HQ outlining the committee s past program submissions, attendance at past program sessions, Webcasts and Legal Quick Hits, popular egroup discussion topics and more. 3. Review the pre-selected program tracks chart below and consider where your program ideas might best fit (you may indicate multiple tracks). 4. Confirm the number of programs your committee has been awarded for the 2016 Annual Meeting. Awards are based on a variety of objective and subjective factors, including past session attendance, committee size and engagement, member feedback and recent awards. 5. Plan to submit the number of program ideas required of your committee in the chart below. The plus two requirement is designed to help ACC reconcile overlapping program ideas between committees during the program selection process. 6. JOINT SUBMISSIONS: Collaborate with other committees Program Chairs to develop joint submissions that cross practice areas. Only ONE committee should submit the joint proposal ( primary committee ), designating the joint committee in the appropriate field on the submission form ( secondary committee ). The proposal will only count toward the primary committee s submission count, however, the secondary committee will enjoy all the same benefits and responsibilities as the primary committee (assist with program development, fill faculty slots, receive attribution on all Annual Meeting materials). 7. Rank your program submissions in order of the committee s preference. While rankings will not guarantee selection, they will guide the final program selection phase. Submitting your ideas Self-submission: By Jan. 4, 2016, go to the Call for Programs link at http://am.acc.com. 1. Log in to the submission portal by selecting your committee, entering the password provided and the relevant contact information. 2. Click on the Add Program Idea + button to begin. 3. Once the program information is entered, select a submission status: Save & Edit Later or Final Submit. You can update the status later, however, only programs marked Final Submit on Jan. 4, 2016 will be considered for selection. 4. Click Save Program Idea and close the box to return to the main screen and add another program idea. (Repeat steps 1-4 as necessary to enter all submissions.) 5. Once all program ideas are entered, use the arrows to rank your submissions according to your committee s priority preferences. 6. Once rankings are complete, click Finalize Ranking. You will receive an email confirmation of your finalized program submissions. - OR - ACC-assisted submission: By Dec. 18, 2015, submit a fully completed program ideas spreadsheet to your ACC liaison to have ACC process the submissions on your behalf. 2

Tips for Submitting Your Annual Meeting Proposal(s) Propose programs with creative and unique methods of presentation. Programs incorporating audio/video, hypotheticals, games or other fun learning techniques are very competitive. Consider the pre-determined program tracks and where your program idea would fit best. These were determined based on history and popularity to meet demonstrated member needs. Rank your program submissions based on your committee s order of preference for selection. Rankings do not constitute a guarantee of selection, but instead, provide ACC with guidance regarding your program preferences. Collaborate with other committees to develop programs that cross practice areas. There is a limit, for example, to the number of cybersecurity programs that can be hosted in one year. Present fully developed program submissions. Proposals that provide descriptions with specific, practical objectives and promise takeaway materials will have a significant advantage. Submissions lacking detailed descriptions will be automatically declined. Include objectives that aim to appeal to globally minded in-house counsel. Submit more advanced-level program ideas. Attendees consistently ask for more in-depth information. No more than one beginner-level program will be selected per committee. Avoid generic program proposals on a popular topic; the competition is likely to be intense. Consider the types of speakers you intend to seek for your program prior to submission. Securing faculty and attendees for extremely narrow topics can prove to be challenging. 4

Faculty may not present for more than two years consecutively. Per session, the number of non-in-house counsel should not outnumber in-house counsel without prior approval from ACC. Non-in-house faculty will be issued a day pass for the day of their speaking engagement. Panels may consist of a maximum of four (4) faculty members total. Three (3) in-house faculty members per panel will receive a complimentary registration. Additional in-house counsel faculty will receive a discounted registration. Outside counsel and/or legal service providers may appear on panels only if their organization is a sponsor of the 2016 Annual Meeting. The full list of eligible sponsors will be available beginning December 2015 at http://am.acc.com/sponsors. o Please contact Moustafa Abdel-Kader (abdel-kader@acc.com) before inviting any law firm or legal service provider representatives to verify eligibility in advance.
