Adobe Training Services Exam Guide ACE: Illustrator CC Exam Guide Adobe Training Services provides this exam guide to help prepare partners, customers, and consultants who are actively seeking accreditation as Adobe Certified Experts (ACE). This guide, while designed to describe the exam in detail and provide as much information as possible, is not meant to be the sole means of exam preparation. Adobe Training Services offers courses that provide in-depth training on the exam content. Hands-on experience with the Adobe product suite is also a critical element in preparing to pass any Adobe certification exam. ACE: Illustrator CC exam overview The ACE: Illustrator CC exam audience are individuals who have a minimum of three years as a graphic designer or illustrator, with experience in conceptual design and creation of final artwork for print and interactive output. You should be able to efficiently create 2D illustrations, text treatments, and precise vector layouts. Candidates should also be familiar with tablet input devices, Adobe Photoshop and InDesign. Exam description The exam has two parts: 60 multiple-choice questions, covering a range of topics listed below A short survey that we use to gather information about your product experience Please note that the survey must be completed to qualify for earning the certification. The certification exam has a time limit of 75 minutes, and includes a timer to mark the remaining time. Exam scoring The certification consists of achieving the minimum passing score, which is 60%, on a multiple choice test. After completing the test, candidates will be immediately provided with the official score for the exam. Scheduling exams The ACE: Illustrator CC exam is delivered through an independent testing provider, Pearson VUE. First time candidates can view the step-by-step online scheduling guide here: http://www.pearsonvue.com/reg_ guide/. Returning candidates can register for exams here: http://www.pearsonvue.com/adobe/. Note that you will be prompted to login before you may register for exams. Exam preparation The following are typical tasks that you should already be able to perform: Create rough and finished designs for logos, icons, and other artwork, including managing appearance and isolation mode Trace scanned or photographed artwork in order to use it in final artwork Create multiple comps for a given assignment Work with multiple artboards Familiar with and can navigate the Illustrator user interface and document window Create and use custom brushes

I am a graphic designer or an illustrator, with experience in conceptual design and creation of final artwork for print and interactive output. I can efficiently create 2D illustrations, text treatments, and precise vector layouts. I am familiar with tablet input devices, Adobe Photoshop and InDesign. I can complete the tasks outlined in the Exam preparation section without assistance. I have read and studied the topics listed in this exam guide. Sample questions 1. You have Adobe Illustrator installed on two different computers. You create a custom workspace on computer A and sync the settings. You d like to use the same workspace on computer B, so you sync the settings but the workspace doesn t become available. Which option would explain why this is happening? A. Workspaces cannot be synchronized using the Sync Settings options. B. You chose the Sync All Settings option and Workspaces was not selected. C. Workspace synchronization changes apply only after you restart Illustrator. D. The workspace name contained a special character that prevented syncing.

2. You draw a shape and notice it is created under another shape on your artboard. What is the reason for this? A. You are drawing with a compound path selected. B. The drawing mode is set to Inside. C. You are drawing with a clipping mask selected. D. The drawing mode is set to Behind. 3. You re creating a project in Adobe Illustrator that requires you to draw shapes for reference, but you don t want them to print in the final output. How should you make those reference shapes visible on screen while ensuring that they will not print? A. Deselect the All Printer s Marks option in the Print dialog box. B. Answer: B 6. In Adobe Illustrator, you click on the Artboard with the Type tool and type some text. You switch to the Selection tool so that you can link this text to another frame but you realize that you can t. Why would you conclude that this is not possible? A. You need to draw another frame in advance in which to link the text. B. Frames cannot be linked using the Selection tool. C. The text you created is Point Type and cannot be linked to another frame. D. Linking can only be done from one frame to the next with the Type tool.

7. You ve drawn several overlapping objects in Adobe Illustrator. You select all of these objects and choose Object > Clipping Mask > Make.
