President s Message 2011 The Changing Face of Education Using Technology to Move Forward Ten years ago, the only way IEA delivered our courses was in the classroom. That s a wonderful way to learn, and it s still the method many prefer. But time is a very expensive thing, and we all have a limited budget for that very valuable asset. IEA has responded to that problem and we now offer four ways to learn, each responding to the unique needs of over 5,000 students. Roy Little President and CEO Online, Instructor-Led In only ten years, this unique way to learn has become the most popular way to take our designation courses. All eight market-leading Workers Compensation courses, P&C designation courses like ARM and CPCU, and specialty courses in Disability and Absence Management and others are all available three times a year on our unique blended learning platform. Students have 24/7 access to course materials, private email accounts and on-demand quizzes and exams and a live, weekly lecture and discussion session with IEA s most capable and knowledgeable instructors. More than 2,000 students chose this route in 2010. Online Self Study In only three years, IEA has developed and delivered 26 online, self study courses. Claims administrators pursuing a career-enhancing designation can take all eight WCCP Workers Comp courses online and self-study. We offer 7 prelicensing courses in three states for people who require approved licensing training before taking the state exam. Disability management professionals can start a career with our Certified Professional in Disability Management course. Shorter courses are available for personal lines and introductions to property casualty and worker s compensation. professionals can register 24/7; study at home, work, or on the road; and enjoy the benefit of our Ask the Expert facility. And since all this is online and on the web, substantial savings are available. Enterprise accounts are available including access to our LMS to help manage your employees progress towards educational goals. Telelectures and Video All too often, CE and other short-term courses are same old, same old. And presentations by vendors are sometimes poorly-disguised sales pitches. IEA is responding with innovative telelectures and, soon, on-demand video. Our telelectures are one hour long and scheduled at convenient times throughout the week. With a simple conference call, we present the most current of topics with the industry s most knowledgeable instructors at affordable cost. And coming soon we will introduce on-demand video for true on-demand capability on screen. Classroom IEA offers many semester and seminar courses in the classroom. Our renowned instructors meet directly with students for weeks at a time in our designation courses and for hours or a day for our seminars and workshops. Generations of students and instructors have formed lifelong bonds in this process. If your company or association needs to provide customized or in depth personalized training, we can deliver classroom training on-site. IEA can source the instructor and deliver the class materials to your location and on your schedule.
