Each degree program must be assigned a CIP code and included in the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) Program Inventory. Degree Programs are further subdivided into baccalaureate degree, master s degree and specialist degree programs. Requirements: A baccalaureate degree program consists of 120 semester credit hours. Exceptions to the 120 hours must be approved by THECB. A master s degree program consists of at least 30 semester credit hours. A specialist degree consists of at least 60 hours beyond a bachelor s degree.
