REGENT COLLEGE, a transdenominational, evangelical graduate college in Vancouver, Canada, will have a vacancy for the office of President in August 2015. The College was founded in 1968 as an innovative graduate school of theology, with education of the laity its central focus. Above all, it seeks to cultivate intelligent, vigorous and joyful commitment to Jesus Christ, His church, and His world. Regent offers graduate degrees with an emphasis on the interdisciplinary integration of faith with scholarship, the fostering of thoughtful Christian vocation, and a vibrant witness to Christ in the church, the academy, the arts and the marketplace. Based in Vancouver, the College is engaged in global networks of theology and Christian practice through its accomplished faculty, students and alumni. Accredited by the Association of Theological Schools in the US and Canada, the College is also affiliated with the adjacent campus of the University of British Columbia. Regent has 17 full-time faculty, and more than 30 emeritus, sessional and other instructors. Each year the student body of 1200 students includes more than 30 denominations from 40 countries. Students come from many vocations, academic fields and life experiences. The successful candidate will be a scholar who has demonstrated skills in strategic leadership, fundraising, and administration. They are looking for a President of mature Christian character including outstanding interpersonal skills.

POSITION DESCRIPTION COLLEGE PRESIDENT SUMMARY The President/Chief Executive Officer of Regent College is appointed by the College s Board of Governors for a five-year term, and is eligible for a subsequent term with the agreement of the Board. The President reports and is accountable to the Board, and provides dynamic leadership to the College, its faculty, staff, and students, and to the wider Regent community of alumni, donors and supporters. The President will be committed to Regent s statement of Christian faith and its moral vision statement and ensure these are honoured in all aspects of College life. The Regent President has three roles: DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES a) As Chief Executive Officer the President is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and decision-making necessary for the effective and efficient achievement of the College s strategies and objectives, its vision, mission and culture. b) As Chief Development Officer the President provides leadership in the external relations of the College, with particular emphasis on heading the fund-raising activities of the College. c) As a member of Faculty the President provides academic leadership, supporting and directing the Faculty, teaching, lecturing and writing as appropriate, and may delegate to the Academic Dean substantial administrative responsibilities. The College is searching for a President who can lead the College through personal commitment to the Regent ethos. The President will endorse and build upon Regent s calling as a transdenominational evangelical Christian community of graduate learning, committed to the integration of faith, scholarship, vocation, the arts and the public sphere. The College expects its President to provide visionary leadership in administering and promoting Regent s academic, student, fundraising and financial activities, recognizing the creative innovation that has marked the College from its inception. Strategic insight and action concerning key issues affecting the College s future development will be a priority for the next President. Excellence is required in stewarding the human, financial and physical resources of the College, with demonstrated skills in financial management, budgeting and fund-raising. The successful candidate will be an accomplished communicator, able to convey Regent s ethos and activities, and equipped to relate and communicate effectively among the College s diverse constituencies.
While practised in making hard decisions, the President will simultaneously cultivate a Christian model of servant leadership, committed to the spiritual formation of the Regent assembly and nurturing a Christ-centred learning and caring community. The President will be effective in coordinating the skills and expertise of both Faculty and Staff, and will foster healthy working relationships throughout the College. Consistent with the high standards of scholarship among Regent s outstanding faculty members and students, the President will preferably hold a PhD degree and present a meritorious academic record of research achievement in a specialist field related to the College s academic programs. He or she will share in the intellectual life of the College and be an exemplar and spokesperson for its theological vision. The successful candidate will be of exemplary Christian character. The President will advance the College s status as a centre of learning within a global network of theological studies and outreach, with particular emphasis on sustaining relationships around the Pacific Basin. The new President will maintain and develop Regent s strong relations with the University of British Columbia, peer theological institutions, the Association of Theological Schools, and the broader Christian community of Greater Vancouver.
