About this guide About the system 04 The purpose of this user guide is to help you administer and run a demo test on Pearson Onscreen Platform. This will confirm the software has been installed and is working correctly. The user guide is written for centre staff and makes the following assumptions: You are familiar with the Microsoft Windows operating system The computer you are using meets minimum system requirements What is Pearson Onscreen Platform? It is the new onscreen testing system which is accessed by all approved centres that facilitate onscreen assessments. System requirements: Minimum System Requirements: Windows Vista SP2, 7 SP1 or greater Dual core processor Minimum 10GB Hard disk space RAM 512mb Network Adapter installed Screen Resolution of 1024x768 or more Pre-requisites:.NET Framework 4.5 Full administration rights during installation IIS express Port 8080 is open Access to the qualification management application.

In this section Pearson Onscreen Platform PIN Creation 07 This section will explain how to generate the PIN you will need to launch the Pearson Onscreen Test Platform. Step 1 Once logged into the qualification management application select the dropdown arrow at top right to reveal the menu. Select My Account. It makes the following assumptions: An Internet connection is established. You have a login for the application. The Pearson Onscreen Platform PIN will be needed by test invigilators to launch the Offline test Delivery Platform (TDP) and to manage all Onscreen tests. Step 2 On the My Account Details screen expand the Onscreen Test Platform PIN drop-down at bottom.
Pearson Onscreen Platform PIN Creation (continued) 08 Step 3 To create your Pearson Onscreen Test Platform PIN click Generate. Step 4 Your Pearson Onscreen Test Platform PIN will be displayed. If your PIN is compromised you can generate a new one by clicking Generate again. This can be done as many times as you need. * Your new PIN will be applied to the Test Player when you download your first Test Packages with your new PIN.! You only need to generate a PIN once, for all of your test package downloads.
09 Demo Test Learner Registration 3
In this section Demo Test Learner Registration 10 This section will explain how to create an order to register a demo learner in the qualifications management application. It makes the following assumptions: Demo test registrations and test bookings are not chargable. Step 1 From the list of tabs click on the Learner Management option. You have a login for the application. You have permission to create an order.! Step 2 You will be directed to the home screen for Learner Management. Click the Menu icon followed by Create and then Create Order from the left menu bar. A new dummy registration needs to be created everytime a demo test is needed. It is not possible to use the same registration more than once.

Qualification details: Title - Pop Dummy Qualificiation Product Ref - Q-005003866 QN - 100/100/100 Step 4 Type POP in the search bar and hit the enter key. You will be presented with the search result POP Dummy Qualification Select the qualification and then click Add Selected Products to Order. Step 5 You will be presented with a message saying You need to link learners to this order. Click Select Learners from the right side.
Demo Test Learner Registration (continued) 12 Step 6 To create a new learner click the Create Learners tab. Enter the main details of the demo learner. Fields marked with an asterisk are mandatory. Click on Save and Add to move the learner details to the box on the right, then select OK to continue. Step 7 You will be taken back to the overview page where a green tick will appear next to the processes which have been completed. Click Add Dates to add course start and end dates to your listed learner(s).
Demo Test Learner Registration (continued) 13 Step 8 Select the course start and end dates for each of the linked learners and click OK. For a Demo learner set the start date as today and the End date any day in the future. Step 9 You are now presented with an overview of your order. You will have green ticks showing that you have successfully linked your learners and entered course dates. Click Submit to save your order, and OK to confirm on the following screen.
14 Make Demo Test Entry 4
In this section Make Demo Test Entry 15 This section will explain how to make a demo test entry in the qualifications management application. It makes the following assumption: Follow Step 1-3 from Demo Test Learner Registration Step 4 Click on Entries and Booking(s) tab and then click on Qualifications to expand the list. You have a login for the application.! In order for a demo test to be created you need to first create a dummy learner registration as per section 3 Step 5 Search for POP Dummy Qualification and expand it by clicking the triangle at left to see the testable units available. The Learning Assessment Activity will be set as Onscreen. Select the unit by adding a tick to the box at left and click Add Selected Units to Order
Make Demo Test Entry (continued) 16 Step 8 You will now be prompted to link learners to the booking and select the time and date your learners will take the test. To add learners to the booking click Select Learners on the right side. Step 9 You are presented with a list of the demo learners registered to the POP Dummy Qualification. To link a learner to the order click Add, the learner will move to the Linked Learners box. You can use the search box to find the demo learner you registered previously. Once the demo learner shows on the right side of the screen click OK.
Make Demo Test Entry (continued) 17 Step 10 A green tick will appear next to the processes which have been completed. Click Add dates to add the test booking date, time and mode. Step 11 You can now select the date and time you want to book the test from the drop down bars. The test delivery window will be open 4 hours either side of the chosen time.
Make Demo Test Entry (continued) 18 Step 12 You now need to select the mode of the test you wish to run a demo test for. Classroom - If you are testing the POP LAN software. Offline - If you are testing the offline test delivery platform without internet access. Online - If you are testing the online delivery platform with internet access. Then click Save. Step 13 You have entered all the information needed to complete the booking. This is shown by two green ticks next to the required information. To complete the booking click Submit and then OK to confirm.
19 Manage Demo Test Entry 5
In this section Manage Demo Test Entry 20 This section will explain how to download an offline test package and launch an online test in the qualifications management application. Step 1 From the qualifications management home page click on the Learner Management option. It makes the following assumption: You have a login for the application. You have created your Pearson Onscreen Platform PIN. You have installed the latest version of the Pearson Onscreen Platform software Step 2 You will be directed to the home screen for Learner Management. Click Manage and then Manage Entry/Bookings from the menu at left. A login may be obtained from your Pearson Account Specialist.
Manage Demo Test Entry (continued) 21 Step 3 Using the search function you can find the demo test you booked for your demo learner. Or click the refresh icon at bottom right of the table to reveal all future tests. You are able to launch an Online test or download an Offline test package ready for delivery. To view the Assessment Mode and additional time click the expansion arrow at left.
Manage Demo Test Entry (continued) 22 Step 4 Launch Online Onscreen Test To Launch an Online Onscreen test select the booking using the tick box at left and click Launch Test. If installed the Onscreen test player will launch the test. Run through and complete the test to confirm all functionality is working. Download Offline Onscreen Test To Download an Offline Onscreen test select the booking using the tick box at left and click Download Test. Your Pearson Onscreen Platform PIN will be assigned to the download so only you can launch the test. A window will pop up, click Download to confirm the start of the download. It will check through four stages. Ensure each stage shows as Passed, if any fail refresh the web page and try again. The first time you download a test package it can take longer than normal.
23 Administer Offline Test 6
In this section Administer Offline Test 24 This section will explain how to administer a test using the Pearson Onscreen Offline Test Delivery Platform. Step 1 Click the Pearson Onscreen Platform icon from your desktop. It makes the following assumptions: You have downloaded the Pearson Onscreen Platform software. You have downloaded a test from the qualifications management application. Step 2 Enter your Pearson Onscreen Platform PIN you generated in section 2 and select Login. You have created your Pearson Onscreen Platform PIN.
Administer Offline Test (continued) 25 Step 3 The dashboard will display the tests that have recently been downloaded to your computer in the Available section. Find the candidate and test entry you wish to launch. You can search by a test date range if you have many candidates. Select the Declaration box to confirm that you are ready to invigilate the assessment. Then click Launch. * Note you will no longer need an Attendance Register as you are agreeing to the declaration instead. Step 4 The test will launch and lock your computer down into Kiosk mode. This means only the test will be accessible. Run through the test questions and click Finish to review the questions. Click Complete Test and the computer will come out of Kiosk mode and close down the test player.
Administer Offline Test (continued) 26 Step 5 Follow steps 1 and 2 to log back into the Offline Test Delivery Platform. If you have a internet connection you will be presented with a pop-up window (Pending actions) advising that you have responses waiting to be uploaded. If you have a strong stable connection click Yes. If your internet connection is not stable and you wish to upload later click No. If you have selected no you will need to do a manual upload by selecting Pending Upload from the menu at left and then click Upload. Step 6 By clicking on Yes a pop-up window will appearing click on Start to upload Once this has completed you will see the word Done confirming that the upload has been actioned. Confirmation can also be viewed by selecting Archived from the menu at left and checking the Status. Congratulations, you have successfully conducted a Pearson Onscreen Platform Demo Test.
