The second team challenge is the European Expedition which runs from June 29, 2015 to August 23, 2015 This is an 8 week steps- based challenge. The final team challenge is a 6 week nutrition and activity challenge that will run from October 5, 2015 to November 15, 2015. Each challenge will have in depth FAQs available before they launch. How can I find a team to join? During challenge enrollment, there are numerous options to join a team including: join an existing team, or get matched to a team. If you opt to join an existing team, you can search for a team to join by team name, team access code, team captain name or team member name. If you prefer, you can also be auto assigned to a team by the website itself during the registration process by selecting Get Matched to a Team. Please note, if you choose to get matched to a team, it will be randomly selected. You may be matched to a team with individuals that you do not know or with individuals from another company. You can also select to become a team captain, creating an open team (allowing anyone to join) or the system to assign team members. This will be a great way to meet people throughout the organisation while focusing on maintaining or improving your overall health and wellbeing. What s the difference between finding a team and getting matched to a team? If you do not want to go through the process of searching for a team as detailed above, you can get matched to a team, which simply means that the website will automatically find a team for you, and randomly assign you to that team. Please note, if you choose to get matched to a team it is at random. You may be matched to a team with individuals that you do not know, or from another company. Can I join a team from another company or can someone from another company join my team? Yes. If you set your team as Open during the registration process, anyone will be able to search for your team or be matched to your team. How do I invite team members from other companies? You can invite anyone to be on your team by entering in their email address during the registration process. You can also visit the My Team page of the challenge, scroll to the Invite People button and enter in the email address of the person you wish to be on your team. What can other companies see about my team or my profile? Participants on Get Up & Thrive. will be able to view your profile page which, if you have uploaded a profile picture, will be visible. They will also be able to see your total steps, and fitness goals if you select Public viewing they are set to public. Your profile can also be set to Private, in which case your profile will not be visible. I am trying to join a friend's team. Why doesn't the team name appear when I search for it? When searching for a team name, make sure you have the team name spelled correctly and if you are unsure of its spelling, consider typing a few keywords. If you still cannot locate the team, it may be that the team is full or the team captain created the team as a closed team, which requires you to obtain a team code from the captain in order to join that team. I got an invitation to join a team but I am already on a team and don't want to switch teams. What can I do? If you receive an invitation to join a team and you are already on a team or are not interested in joining that particular team, you do not have to respond to the invitation. Invitations to join a team are sent out by the captain and those who respond to the invitation first are the first to join the team. The invitation does not reserve a spot for you on the team. How many people can be on a team, and why are there limits if any? Teams must be comprised of between 5 to 11 members. These team size limits were chosen for a number of reasons including but not limited to best practice information regarding cordial competition, social networking and support and behavioral change science. If you are on a team of less than 5 members your team will not show up in the team standings. 2
Team Challenges... cont d. Can I be on more than one team? No. You can only be part of one team during the course of the challenge. However, you can switch teams during the registration process until the challenge begins. Can I switch teams and if so, how? Yes, you can switch teams during the registration process up until the challenge begins. To switch teams, you visit the My Team page, and click the button to Switch Team within the team information section on the right hand side of the page. Once you click on the link, a pop up will give you an option to create a team, or join an existing team (similar to the challenge enrollment process). If you click on Join an existing team., you will need the new team s access code or can search for open teams my name. Then click Switch Teams and you are on the new team of your choice. What's the difference between an open and closed team? An open team allows any participant to join the team or permits the website to auto assign members to your team. The closed team is by invitation only. I am the team captain, and I invited 20 people to join my team. How will the 11 team members be chosen? When inviting employees to join your team, the 10 positions (11 including yourself) will be filled in the order by which those you invited, complete the registration process and choose to join your team. If you do not include the email addresses of all the individuals you want to join your team during your registration process as team captain, make sure to send the team code to those you invite after completing your team captain registration process. I created a team but none of the people I invited are on my team - what happened? In all likelihood, when you created your team during registration you forgot to do one of the following: 1. Enter the email address for each individual you wanted to participate on your team (remember no more than 10 additional team members). 2. Create your team as an open team and it has already been filled as anyone can join an open team. How do I make sure only the people I want on my team get on my team? If you know who you want on your team, you would opt to close your team. This way only the people you want to be on your team would be able to join your team. You will need to invite each person or provide them with your team access code. What is the team access code and how do I use it? When a team captain creates a team, they receive a team access code. The team captain can share this access code with their colleagues to allow them to find the team. You can enter the team access code during the challenge enrollment process to find the applicable team, and join the team. On the My Team page your team access code will be displayed right below the team captain name and team name within the team information box on the right side of the page. How do I load a team picture to the profile? To load a team picture you will need to: Click on the "Challenges" tab. Click on "My Team" next to the name of your active challenge. Under your team photo, click on "Upload Photo" on the right side of the screen Click on "Choose File" to select your photo, and click "Upload" to finalize. Please make sure the picture you are trying to upload is in JPG, GIF or PNG format and is less than 2MB. If your photo fits this description and you are still unable to upload it, you may also try resizing your photo (in most cases this will work). I am a team captain but would like someone else to take over the role. What can I do? As a team captain you can make another team member the captain. To do so: Make sure the person you select is willing to take on the responsibilities of a team captain. Click on the Challenges tab. Click on My Team next to the name of your active challenge 3
