Philadelphia/Delaware Valley Chapter Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association Scholarship Fund As an employee of a Sponsoring Member company of the Philadelphia/Delaware Valley Chapter, PMTA you and your family members may be eligible for this exceptional program. More details regarding eligibility are available in the scholarship application. Scholarship application forms are now available to any Philadelphia/Delaware Valley Chapter Member-Company employees, their spouses, children and grandchildren. The forms are available through your employer or may be downloaded from the PMTA web site, www.pmta.org. The Philadelphia/Delaware Valley Chapter is pleased to announce that $16,000 in scholarships was awarded for 2015. Introduction In April of 2004, the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Delaware Valley Chapter of the Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association voted to start a scholarship fund for family members of employees of companies who are members, in good standing, of the chapter. A Scholarship Committee was formed to establish this scholarship fund. For calendar year 2015, the Committee has authorized awarding a minimum of 15 scholarships to individuals meeting the eligibility criteria and guidelines described below. The award per individual is limited to $1000. Existing participants and new applicants must apply each year. Applications are welcomed from high school students in their senior year, existing scholarship fund participants, college students and those individuals presently employed by member comparues. Mission The mission of the Philadelphia Delaware Valley Chapter scholarship fund is to advance the educational opportunities of family members of those individuals, employed by companies, who are members in good standing, of the Philadelphia/Delaware Valley Chapter of the Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association. Eligibility Scholarships are available to the following students and individuals. ~ Those who are family members of existing employees of companies, who are members of the Philadelphia/Delaware Valley Chapter in good standing. Family members are defined as spouses, children and grandchildren of those employees. >- Non-students who are presently employed by member companies. ~ Preference will be shown to those applicants who intend to pursue trucking industry related studies. Example of these would be college courses or trade school and vocational training focused on trucking, logistics, driver training, the repair and maintenance of commercial vehicles and other industry related activities. However, applications for non-industry related studies are welcome and willreceive careful review. ~ An applicant should be able to demonstrate that within the current restrictions of his present course of study he is making a personal effort to earn part of the cost of his education. ~ Current scholarship recipients, who are reapplying, must be students in good standing with minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 (on a scale of 4) or the letter grade equivalent. Guidelines Below is a list of guidelines that the Philadelphia Delaware Valley chapter applicants need to follow. ~ Applications from either existing scholarship fund participants or new applicants will be accepted between November 15th, 2015 and February 15th, 2016 and the successful recipients of the scholarship will be notified by May 15th, 2016. 2

> Applicants will be asked to furnish transcripts and employment history. > New applicants are required to write and submit an essay of between 300 and 500 words detailing their career goals, extracurricular activities, and why that applicant should receive the scholarship. New applicants should demonstrate how their proposed course of studies relates to the trucking industry. Existing scholarship participants might discuss how the courses or training received thus far have contributed to the achievement of their career goals and their understanding of the trucking industry. > Checks will be made payable to the institution of choice.
