What is BI? Business intelligence (BI) is an umbrella term that includes the applications, infrastructure and tools, and best practices that enable access to and analysis of information to improve and optimise decisions and performance OR put simply: BI allows us to access data that s important to us and use it to make decisions Without good BI how can we be sure we re making good decisions? The simple answer, we can t! Good BI is therefore critical but very hard to achieve; why is that? 3
