One of the most daunting aspects of switching from your bank to a credit union, or even to another bank, is the logistics of changing your accounts all that account information, your logins, direct deposits and auto bill pay setup. Online banking has made it so simple to connect our various accounts, that disconnecting them can seem like untangling a spider web. At Stanford FCU, we try to make the process as simple as possible. And, to help get you started, we ve put together this free Checking Account Switch Kit with five easy steps to simplify the process, and a form you ll need to close your existing account. 3
Step 1 Open your Stanford FCU Checking Account Choose the checking account that best fits your needs Open your checking account online, by phoning our Call Center or visiting any of our branches Step 2 Move your direct deposit to your new Stanford FCU Checking Account To move your payroll direct deposit, contact your Human Resources department for details. You will need the following information: Stanford FCU s ABA Routing Transit #: 321177722 Stanford FCU s Address: P.O. Box 10690, Palo Alto CA 94303-0843 Stanford FCU s Phone Number: (650) 723-2509 Your Account Number: Your Checking Account number is the 10-digit number beginning with 900 or the nine digit number beginning with 700 listed at the bottom of your Stanford FCU checks. Stanford University and Stanford Hospital & Clinics employees can enroll for direct deposit online: Stanford University: axess.stanford.edu Stanford Hospital & Clinics and Lucile Packard Children s Hospital Stanford: econnect.stanfordmed.org/lawson/portal If you have other sources of direct deposit, such as Social Security, visit Stanford Hospital & Clinics and Lucile Packard Children s Hospital Stanford: econnect.stanfordmed.org/lawson/ portal or call (800) 772-1213 to change Social Security deposits by phone. 4
Step 3 Redirect your automatic payments Move automatic payments, such as loans and recurring bills, to your new Stanford FCU Checking Account by providing the biller with Stanford FCU s ABA routing number 321177722 and your Checking Account number. In most cases, you can change your automatic payments by logging on to your account on the biller s website or by calling them. Step 4 Access your new Checking Account anywhere, anytime. It s easy! Online Banking You ll have immediate access to CUOnline after you open your account. Mobile Banking Download the Stanford FCU app from your app store and register. You will need the following to register: Checking Account number (provided to you by the New Account Representative or found on your monthly statement) Last 6 digits of your Social Security Number Zip code Online Bill Pay Sign up for Bill Pay online by logging on to CUOnline. estatements No more paper or waiting for snail mail. Request estatements when you open your account or register on CUOnline. 5
Step 5 Stop using your old Checking Account Once your direct deposit begins, immediately stop using your old account and allow enough time for any outstanding checks, automatic payments and debit card transactions to clear. Destroy any unused checks and debit cards. Confirm all of your checks have cleared. Close your old Checking Account by completing and delivering the attached form to the financial institution where you have your account. 6
