Reimbursement for Compensated Liabilities - contractual language by unit: Somerville Municipal Employees Association (SMEA) - Unit A Sick leave accrued while on workers' compensation cannot be used for sick leave buyback purposes or for the supplementation of workers compensation benefits. Upon retirement from employment or upon death of an employee eligible for retirement, any employee covered by this Agreement shall receive reimbursement for each day of unused accumulated sick leave, up to a maximum of two hundred (200) days at the rate of :twenty-five (25%) percent of daily base pay at time of retirement, per day. Retirement shall mean retirement of any form pursuant to state and local retirement legislation. Fire Association of Somerville (FAS) - Fire Alarm Upon retirement from employment, any employee covered by this agreement shall receive reimbursement for unused accumulated sick leave up to a maximum of 200 days at the rate of 25% of daily base. Service Employees International Union (SEIU) - Local 888 (E-911 Call Takers I Dispatchers) Upon death or retirement pursuant to Mass. Gen. Laws Chapter 32, Employees may buy back unused sick leave at 25% of the dollar value, provided that the amount paid to an Employee under this provision shall not exceed $2,000.00.
Somerville Police Superior Officers Association (SPSOA) Unused accrued sick days will carryover and accumulate from year to year without limit on the number of total days accrued. Employees who retire shall be entitled to buyback 35% of their total accumulated unused, accrued sick time at their salary rate in effect at the time of retirement. National Conference of Firemen and Oilers (NCFO) - Local 3 (School Custodians) Upon retirement from employment or upon the death of an employee eligible for retirement an employee covered by this Agreement shall receive reimbursement for each day of unused accumulated sick leave up to a maximum of two hundred (200) days at a rate of $13.50 per day. Retirement shall mean retirement of any form pursuant to state or local retirement legislation.
STA PARAPROFESSIONALS: Upon retirement, a Paraprofessional may buy back up to one hundred thirty-three (133) days of accrued sick leave at thirty ($30) dollars per day. Notice by October 1 of impending retirement at the end of a contract year will result in payment in July. Otherwise, such Paraprofessional will be paid in the fiscal year subsequent to the fiscal year in which such employee retires. AFSCME SECRETARIES: Upon retirement an employee may buy back up to one hundred thirty-three (133) days of accrued sick leave at thirty dollars ($30) per day. Notice by October 1 st of impending retirement at the end of the school year will result in payment in July; otherwise the employee will be paid during the fiscal year subsequent to that fiscal year in which the employee retires. This sick leave buy-back benefit also shall be payable to an employee with ten (10) or more years of service in the School Department who dies while still actively employed. In such case, the employee's sick leave buy-back shall be paid to his/her designated beneficiary, spouse or estate, in that order. AFSCME CAFETERIA: Effective September 1, 2012, upon retirement, an employee may buy back up to nine hundred ninety-seven and one-half (997%) hours of accrued sick leave at thirty dollars ($30) for each seven and one-half (7%) hours. Notice by October 1 of impending retirement at the end of the school year will result in payment in July; otherwise the employee will be paid during the fiscal year subsequent to the fiscal year in which the employee retires. UAW COMMUNITY SCHOOLS PROGRAM: Effective September 1, 2004, upon retirement an employee who has completed ten (10) years of service in the Somerville Community Schools Program may buy back up to twenty-four (24) days of accrued sick leave at the rate of thirty dollars ($30) per day. Notice by October 1 s l of impending retirement at the end of the school year will result in payment in July; otherwise, the employee will be paid during the fiscal year subsequent to that fiscal year in which the employee retires. SOMERVILLE ADMINISTRATORS ASSOCIATION: Upon retirement an Administrator may buy back up to one hundred thirty-three (133) days of accrued sick leave at thirty dollars ($30) per day. An Administrator
who submits an irrevocable letter of resignation for the purpose of retirement to the Superintendent by August 1 that he/she intends to retire after the end of the then current work year (i.e., the following June 30) will be able to receive such payment on or about such time of retirement, as early as the following July, provided that the Administrator works for his/her entire work year and severs his/her employment no later than August 31 immediately following the end of that work year. Otherwise, such Administrator may be paid during the fiscal year subsequent to the fiscal year in which he/she retires. This sick leave redemption benefit also shall be payable upon an Administrator's death while still actively employed. In the case of an Administrator's death, his/her sick leave redemption shall be payable to his/her designated beneficiary, spouse or estate, in that order. STA UNIT A (TEACHERS): Beginning with the 2013-2014 work year, upon retirement, a bargaining unit member may buy back up to one hundred forty (140) days of accrued sick leave at thirty ($30) dollars per day. Notice by October 1 of impending retirement at the end of the school year will result in payment the following July; otherwise, such bargaining unit member will be paid during the fiscal year subsequent to that fiscal year in which the member retires. STA UNIT D (ADULT EDUCATORS): Upon retirement, a full-time employee may buy back up to one hundred (100) days of accrued sick leave at thirty Dollars ($30) per day. Notice by October 1 of impending retirement at the end of the school year will result in payment The following July; otherwise, such employee will be paid during the fiscal year subsequent to that fiscal year in which the employee retires. UAW COMMUNITY SCHOOLS PROGRAM ADMINISTRATORS: Upon resignation or retirement, a member may buy back up to one hundred (100) days of accrued sick leave at thirty dollars ($30) per day.
