MULTICULTURAL CONTENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AT A GLANCE Language Partner s Multilingual Content Management System Meridium is multilingual content management system designed to fast track the process of multilingual Web site development from the traditional static Web page approach and provides the essential tools to track and update the language content, reduce the complexity of handling multilingual text and reduce the overall cost of development. WHY USE MERIDIUM? Building multilingual Web sites attracts large amount of labour in translating and re-building Web pages for multiple language versions of the Web site. This is made even more difficult in tracking the impact to the language pages from changes in the English source text. Meridium automates the process of developing and updating multilingual Web pages and reduce development time and labour cost.

DESCRIPTION Meridium combines the management of offline and online publications in one cohesive environment offering better versioning control, security, document management, design support, ease of information dissemination and ease of preparation of multilingual publications on the Web. Meridium gives you the power to create content within any section of the Web site. This includes editing existing content, adding new sections, images, links and text. Changes to the Web content are reflected on the Web site immediately. Meridium is browser-based which means the website can be accessed anywhere. Simply type in the URL and enter your username and password. All content changes will go through approval system, allowing higher decision makers to determine when the information will go online. At the heart of Meridium is a WYSIWYG content editor which is aimed at business users with Microsoft Word - style document editing and does not require any knowledge of HTML (Web) skills and http or ftp protocols. The editor is optional and more technically proficient users can edit HTML directly, fine-tuning the code for their needs. The system is self-explanatory and requires little or no training (although personal training and user manuals are available). Meridium comes as an open source product so our client can insert new functionality or customise existing features to suit their needs. Meridium can also allow large organisational Web sites to be completely driven using one integrated publishing system or the aggregation of individual smaller publishing system managed by different departments allowing their own sub-branding and publishing regime. Of course, all Language Partner products have full multilingual support and allow ease of management of multiple language versions of the website. The product comes with a dynamic translation console which allows in house translators or external translators to enter their translations and it will automatically be updated in the content database and on the Web. This removes the need to deal with multilingual fonts and different document formats

UNIQUE FEATURES Browser-based authoring with rapid update to live website WYSIWYG Content Editing Environment Multilingual Web Site Support User friendly, simple template driven format Ability to add, edit, or delete content (including text, images and links) Ability to add java applets or other embeddable extras. TECHNOLOGIES Meridium comes in version for two popular platforms: 1. For Microsoft Platform, we have a version built using Microsoft ASP technologies and a version built using Macromedia s Cold Fusion technologies 2. For Unix and Linux Platform, we have a PHP built and a JSP built The presentation layer is based on HTML, so users, editors, and administrators can access the system from a standard web browser. This means all contribution, editing, and administration can be performed using a web browser over an intranet, extranet, or the Internet. Content entered into the system is stored within a relational database (Microsoft SQL Server 7.0), and the application was developed using Java servlets, facilitating its eventual porting to other platforms. Being Java-based, Meridium is open and extensible.
