Financial Technology Forum Committee The Financial Technology Forum is one of the Institute's newest forums. It meets four times a year and it is heavily involved in the CISI Annual Technology Debate. The Financial Technology Forum aims to play a key role in the continuous development of thought leadership and knowledge sharing in our industry on how to best leverage technology in the best interest of the securities and investment markets and the clients that it protects and services." Brian McNulty MCSI, CEO, DBFS Chairman: Markus Krebsz, Chartered MCSI Author, Consultant & Subject Matter expert Markus has two decades experience in global financial markets and frequently holds lectures on Risk Management & Banking at GCU London. He has been acting as credit rating expert to the World Bank, is an advisor to the European Commission and currently engaged in talks with the IMF focussing on developing nations exchanges. Most recently, he conducted forensic investigations of an unauthorised trading incident. In early 2012, he built an operational performance and credit scoring system for the World Bank and a CRA data portal pilot for the EC. Until late 2011 he was leading the Rapid Risk Solutions team of a major UK banking group, after having established and managed the firm s performance analytics team overseeing a SF bond portfolio totalling USD105bn. Not only a passionate author, Markus is also reviewer/editor of six CISI workbooks and is a long-standing committee member of both, its Risk and Financial Technology Forums.
Deputy Chairman: Mark Seaman, Chartered FCSI Director, Mark Seaman Consultants Mark is an Independent Management Consultant with thirty years experience of investment administration, fund and wealth management and regulation. He graduated from Cambridge University with an MA in Natural Sciences. Prior to setting up his own specialist funds consultancy, Mark spent six years as a Lieutenant in the Executive branch of the Royal Navy. This was followed by three years as a computer programmer and project manager before he joined Schroders to automate their manual unit trust operations. He subsequently became Head of Administration and set up a number of third party administration clients. As a consultant Mark has worked with over 40 well known clients across the asset management sectors to select and implement administration services and systems in Europe and handle regulatory change. Mark likes to spend his spare time cycling and kayaking. Deputy Chairman: Martin Watkins, Chartered FCSI, FBCS, FIod Director, Ernst & Young With more than 20 years experience in financial markets technology as a practitioner, consultant and supplier, Martin has been involved with a number of domestic and global market initiatives while located in London, New York, Paris and Brussels. He is currently Director for Market Infrastructure at Ernst & Young LLP responsible for expanding the practice in the UK and across EMEIA. He was previously Global Sourcing Director at Euroclear SA/NV in Brussels and held senior management and operational roles at Euroclear UK & Ireland (CRESTCo) settling 2Tn of Equities, Bonds and MMIs on a daily basis. Prior to joining Euroclear, Martin was a member of the Executive Management Team and Division Head for Clearing at AtosEuronext, where he was responsible for all LCH.Clearnet SA technology and a team of 100 technology and market professionals clearing 1.5Tn cash equity and derivatives transactions daily. He spent 5 years at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, where he built a trading, clearing and settlement practice. Before entering financial markets, Martin set up an IBM agency and spent five years working at the Norwegian government-owned Defence manufacturer Kongsberg Våpenfabrikken as UK Representative of the Computer Technology Group (R&D).
Martin is a Board member of CISI, Founding Chairman of the European Regulation Interest Group and a Membership Committee member. In addition to being a Chartered FCSI, Martin is Fellow of the IoD; Fellow of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT; Liveryman at the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists, Freeman at the Worshipful Company of International Bankers and a member of both SIMA and ISITC Europe. Formerly, he was Deputy Chairman of the Securities Industry Software Association. Special Advisor to the committee: Brian McNulty MCSI CEO, DBFS Brian McNulty is Co-Founder and CEO of DBFS, a financial consultancy providing advisory, delivery and resourcing services within the financial markets. Brian has joined the ERIG to offer a view on how technology can contribute towards preparing for and subsequently delivering the significant stream of regulatory change programmes. For the last 10years, Brian has previously held executive roles in consultancy, technology and change management predominantly within fund services. Prior to that Brian was a Senior Trader in Commodities and Equity Derivatives at Rand Merchant Bank after several years as a Senior Technical Analyst with several asset managers. He holds an Honours Mathematics Degree from the University of Glasgow, a Masters in Information Technology from Strathclyde. Christophe Petetin ACSI Data Strategist, Deutsche Bank HCL Co-Innovation Lab Christophe had a number of roles in hedge funds and banking (Prop trading, Market making and structuring) and is now focused on IT projects including Deutsche Bank, Standard Bank and startups. Christophe specialises in trading/risk systems, bank process re-engineering and payments taxonomy. Christophe has also won awards for Best Growth Product and Best Offshore Product at the Professional Advisor Structured Product Awards.
Andrew Brown ACSI Market Risk Middle Office, J.P. Morgan Andrew has over 15 years experience in a number of roles in banking and IT. He has been involved with IT projects of widely different scales. Keeping abreast of technology and both learning about and passing on knowledge of successes, problems and pitfalls remains a keen interest of his. Julia George, Chartered FCSI Director, Julia George Associates Julia's career has spanned both the IT and business sides of the industry and has included tenures at AMS, Girobank, Ernst & Young, StorageTek and, more recently, her own firm, Julia George Associates. Key business areas she has been involved with have included: securities clearing, settlements and custody; wealth management; life and pensions and MiFID. Throughout her career, Julia has focused on the business value of IT. She has developed and evolved a Benefits-Driven Management ( BDM ) approach to underpin all assignments. Jitesh Halai Managing Consultant, Avanade UK Jitesh started his IT career at CrestCo (now EuroClear), the UK Settlements engine some 15 years ago having learnt the basics of investment banking at the EBRD. His specialism is testing and quality assurance practiced in the trading and settlements arena with institutions such as Pershing, Credit Suisse, CLS FX Settlement and Barclays Capital. He is currently leading the Avanade UK Testing Practice which involves quality assurance and test strategy work with some of UK s largest companies. Avanade UK is a joint venture between Accenture and Avanade. Jitesh holds a Honours Mathematics degree from Queen Mary, University of London. Outside of work he likes to help local charities and is a keen racquet sports player.
Matthew Ladbury Executive Director, Operations Technology-Margin, Goldman Sachs Asset Management International Mathew is responsible for global line management of software development teams within the investment banking sector, involving project and portfolio management, and technical and functional advisory of financial software development projects. He has particular experience of regulatory trade processing, including trade and transaction reporting, in addition to equity middle office trade processing.
